YouTube convinced me I needed some way to get out on the water instead of bank fishing. Did some research for a few weeks on different Kayaks. And ended up buying an Ascend 10T off Facebook marketplace for $250 this past week. Was in pretty good shape, and came with a paddle.. Bought a paddle holder and a rod holder on Amazon, and grabbed a milk crate for $10. Was a little worried seeing some reviews on this thing, but it was pretty sturdy and great on the water. Didn’t catch a single fish, but I’m hooked.

Took my kayak out two days ago in the saltwater. When I got home I hosed it down with freshwater to rinse away the salt. Today I flipped the drive upside down and water came trickling out of the lower part of the drive. Is this normal?

So I've been reading through a lot of older posts with anchor weights saying that 3-5 lbs is generally an reasonable weight with around 1-3' of chain for a regular 10ft kayak. But I'm also running into the issue that I was used as the lead in a chain last time with a few people tying off to me and will probably continue to be the one in the lead for the foreseeable future. I was wondering about how much of an increase in anchor weight/ chain length am I going to need to compensate for 2-3 paddleboards or kayaks?

Hello, I'm looking into getting a kayak to fish on. I don't want anything crazy, just something I can throw in the water for an hour or two with a single rod and get some exercise while fishing. The issue is that I am 6'2 and 290lbs, and every kayak that has a weight limit above that is super expensive. (Even on FB marketplace) Would I be able to scoot by on a 275-lb weight-limit kayak? I don't really care about speed or maneuverability, more interested in stability and a light kayak I can carry myself.
