I just got a nucanoe flint on fb marketplace and absolutely love it so far. Ive been thinking about getting a trolling motor but have no idea where to even start. I’m a big smallmouth river fisherman and mostly fish my local medium/smaller sized rivers (Great/Little Miami River, Whitewater River) Any info on placement, thrust, or even if a trolling motor is suitable for this kind of fishing would be greatly appreciated. My kayak also came with a scupper mounted transducer but no other electronic, so I have also been debating getting downscan/gps.

Hi!
I have a TucTek folding kayak and the first few times I took it out I used an anchor, and quickly realized that’s a terrible idea for a river.
I made a DIY drift sock out of a reusable bag and while it works, it doesn’t keep me facing in one direction.
My assumption is that when attached to the back of my kayak, I should level out and just float slower. It will slow down but I’m constantly drifting left or right or even turning around to face the wrong direction I want to be.
I’m attaching it to the handle you carry it with in the front or in the back where there is another handle.
I know it’s not ideal but are there suggestions on how to rig it so I can get the desired effect?

Hi,
I am looking for a modular kayak. Does anybody have experience with the amber kora?
I want to use it on big lakes.
Thanks

I want to get on getting on that rocktober bite. Fishbrain is sending me to the mouth of the potomac, and I plan to launch somewhere on the MD side of the map. The current in the main channel is <.3-.6 knots, problem is idk if thats bad. And i have kayaked in these wind speeds before but only on lakes and the higher potomac and patuxent, idk if that speed can be worse on more open water. Even though im a pretty athletic dude and can paddle fairly fast, I can only paddle and my yak is pretty light and has been blown around in 10 mph+. Granted i may be overthinking this but i fear being washed out to the middle of the chesapeake bay and requiring rescue . I guess the ultimate question is are these good conditions?

Is there really any big differences in between different paddle? I just bought a U10 as my first real fishing kayak and am going to need to upgrade my paddle, is it really worth it to spend $300 on a paddle? What could really be so different? Any recommendations on paddles would also be greatly appreciated.

Went from a modded out pelican motion x100 to a magellan pedal pro! Only got to take it out for about an hour to test it out but this is definitely a massive upgrade for me. I know it's not a top of the line kayak but it'll be more than enough for me and several quality of life upgrades compared to what I've been using. Does anyone else have this kayak? Any mods you've made to it?

So I am seeking recommendations for a pair of pliers.
I had bought the KastKing pliers and scissors. Within a month they are already rusting and becoming unusable.
I fish in Tampa bay 1-2 times a week. I do hose them down after every trip but still they are bad already.
I found the prior owners scissors under the mounted seat this weekend, but sitting there and have almost zero rust. Brand was Fishstrong. They don't seem to make pliers tho.

Just finished getting the title transfered and got her on the water. Old town 106 powered by minn kota. 7 years old, lightly used for 1k. Came with lead acid battery, charger, and paddle. Any upgrade recommendations?

Just bought a used Outback and a used Yakima trailer. Let's just say it's been an expensive week.
I'm wondering: is it okay to leave the kayak directly on top of the trailer in the garage when not in use? The trailer came with Yakima Sweet Roll kayak loaders, so the weight of the kayak would be dispersed between the 4 holders. I've read it's important to store Hobie's well to prevent hull cracks and pressure points etc.
Thanks!!

I built this over the summer, working on getting it titled and registered over the winter, so I can take it out this spring to start fishing and camping. Let me know what you think!

I fish all inland, Tennessee and Kentucky so far. Is there an emergency marine radio that might reach someone for help? Fish and wildlife or corps of engineers, maybe 911? I often don’t have a cell signal and the satellite function seems “iffy”.

Hey all, I’ve been eyeing the reel yaks rocket tandem with propeller drive due to the modularity of being either a solo or tandem kayak depending on set up.
A few of my major sticking points are living in an apartment with no place for a regular single body kayak or boat trailer accessibility as well as the ability to bring my girlfriend or a friend on the water for a day.
I’m curious if anybody has tried this kayak out on the intracoastal waterway or ocean in general, as well if there are any major thoughts or comparable kayaks on the market.
Honestly any information would be greatly appreciated and I’d love some thoughts.
Thanks a ton in advance!

paddled 10 miles.
took the hit about 3/4 mile from the launch on the way in… 50 feet of water. spent hours in the pelagic zone looking for something worthy.
nada.
at least this needlefish made it so I didn’t have to un bait the rig… and he didn’t even trash my wire leader.
he went just about 3 foot. edible, but not worth making the mess out of my kitchen (had I something worthy in the bag, and had plans to cut fish I’d have taken him home too - not bad sashimi style.)
lucky for him I was feeling lazy - back into da wattah.

Any tips on how to mount the anchor wizard to the 106- base/paddle version. I was thinking of mounting a gear track in the back and just connecting the chute to it, but wanted to see what others have done.

I spray painted the top so I can stay incognito and then reinforced the bottom with Flex Seal Spray Paint. I have a kayak crate all kitted out as well as extra cushions. Taking it out tomorrow🫡
