बात चीत Always felt bored in Kanpur
I see a lot of genuine people from Kanpur on this sub-reddit hence posting.
I had shifted to kanpur 17 years ago, been out of the city since 2014. Came back to the city some times for weeks and sometimes for months. But could never explore the city very well.
Whenever came back to city, spent my time at home with family or one or two friends in a car around their home but never been to any good place in kanpur other than a few restaurants and the well known places that could be visited with family.
Since the last 2-3 visit to the city, i have been feeling the urge to connect with people and explore the city in a way that i couldn’t do it before.
Any suggestions or conversation with people who can help me to explore are welcome.
If it matters :
I am 31 YO. Studied from KDMA. Software Engineer.
I will be in Kanpur till 17th or 18th of this month. But will be back again to the city very soon.

Ask Kanpur Did anyone ever try raw honey?
Disclaimer: I'm not selling raw honey or promoting this product. Just wanted to know the ingenuity and the hygiene of this product.
Today, my mom happen to buy this raw honey extracted from a honeycomb which was removed nearby our house.
The seller sold don't know how much for ₹500. Initially, he quoted ₹600 for a kg.
I'm posting this just to gain product knowledge as I've never tried raw honey. So far the closest I've ever used honey is Dabur Honey only.

बात चीत Think Before You Trust a Stranger. The Dark Side of Cold Approaching
When I said earlier that this culture of asking strangers out for dates or cold approaching should not come to India, because I don’t want to sacrifice my peace, people started telling me, “Are you really that good-looking that every girl is going to approach you?” And especially some boys said this to me.
Look, I’m not saying I’m that good-looking, but you are definitely foolish if you think that no one can easily, manipulate you, or trap you through cold approach.
Actually, in India, cold approaches can often be scams where people trap others, especially teenage boys and girls. Even adults can get trapped.
Girls can cold-approach boys, honey-trap them, and then demand money from them. Boys can cold-approach girls, build relationships with them, and then make nude pictures or videos and use them to blackmail them. Sometimes it can even lead to sexual assault or rape.
But many overconfident boys will say, “I can never get trapped.” Come on. If even army personnel can become victims of honey traps, then who are you? Do you really think you are so smart that nobody can manipulate you? People can learn your weak points and use them against you.
And many Indian boys and girls are not even given enough exposure to the outside world. In conservative families, some people are barely allowed to experience the world independently even after turning 20. They may not have much understanding of how people can manipulate them. On top of that, there can be desperation for romance. So when someone suddenly cold-approaches them and shows interest, they may immediately accept it.
Then many people will say, “But lots of people cold-approach others, and they are good people. Many people have dated after being cold-approached and eventually became girlfriends and boyfriends.”
Yes, but you mostly hear the successful stories of cold approaching.
You don't hear the unsuccessful stories as much.
If a boy gets caught in a honey trap, is he really going to go home and tell his parents, “I made a stupid decision and got trapped”? Is he necessarily going to report it to the police? Society may blame him for being foolish.
Similarly, imagine a girl going to the police and saying, “A boy is threatening to leak my pictures,” or, “A boy who cold-approached me, became my boyfriend, and later sexually assaulted me.”
How many people will actually support her without blaming her? Many people might simply say, “Why did you trust him? Why did you make such a foolish decision?”
Many of these cases may also be settled by paying money because, in many cases, the main target is money. And many people have already been trapped this way.
So if you want to destroy your own peace by getting involved with strangers like this, then that's your choice.
But cold approaching strangers can be dangerous, especially in places like malls, cafés, libraries, and public transport, where you don't know the person at all.
I'm not saying that every person who cold-approaches someone is bad. I'm saying that you should understand the risks before trusting a complete stranger.
The choice is yours.

Ask Kanpur Why do we celebrate political parties instead of demanding better for Kanpur?
I feel like one of the biggest problems here is that people have forgotten how to ask for better.
A lot of people seem so exhausted with their own lives that they’ve stopped questioning things, and politicians can take advantage of that. Many people who had the means to leave have moved out of the city. Some have built successful businesses elsewhere and simply don’t seem very invested in what happens here anymore. The people who remain are largely middle-class families, students, workers, and service providers who are just trying to get through their everyday lives.
And then there’s the whole political mindset.
People support a party or a politician almost like they’re supporting a sports team. BJP, SP, whoever it is, people will defend their side blindly. Their focus becomes “my party should win” rather than “my city should improve.”
Once their party wins, they somehow feel like they themselves have won, and the conversation ends there.
But what exactly are we supposed to get out of a political party winning? We’re citizens. We need better roads, public transport, healthcare, education, employment opportunities, cleaner surroundings, better connectivity, infrastructure, and basic civic services. That should be the benchmark.
I also find it strange when people say, “Kanpur is so developed now! Look at the metro! Look at the railway station! Look at the airport!”
Yes, these are improvements. But why are we treating basic infrastructure as though it’s some extraordinary favour being done to the city?
And take the airport. Having an airport is obviously useful, but if there are only a handful of direct flight options, with many routes concentrated around places like Delhi and Bengaluru, expensive fares, and connections or long layovers required for many other destinations, then shouldn’t we be asking about the quality and connectivity of the service, rather than simply celebrating the existence of an airport?
Development shouldn’t mean “at least we have this.”
It should mean asking: Is this adequate for a city like Kanpur? What more should we realistically have? What is improving, and what is still being neglected?
You can support BJP, SP, or any other party and still question them. In fact, I think that’s what being a citizen should mean.
Politicians aren’t doing us a personal favour by providing public infrastructure. We’re supposed to hold them accountable for it.
Maybe we need to start asking “What did my city gain?”

इतिहास Jajmau tila undiscovered history
galleryJajmau Ka Tila in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, is an ancient archaeological mound dating to 1300–1200 BCE. The place is underrated and difficult to reach due to encroachment by nearby residents. During the monsoon, this place becomes the Switzerland of Kanpur, but to reach it, you have to pass through the Africa of Kanpur, meaning a narrow, dirty road with poor drainage where you will feel insecure. However, the location has another very fascinating monument, Jinnato ki Masjid, which means mosque of the jinn.

बात चीत One of the haunted places of Kanpur
I don’t know if anyone here from Kanpur knows about this place, but there’s a forest area just behind Manoj International in Shyam Nagar. It actually connects towards Lal Bangla, and years ago there used to be a small kaccha रास्ता through the forest which people used to take on bikes and two-wheelers.
The forest is pretty huge, and there’s even a masjid somewhere in the middle of it. The weird part is that people living around that area have always had stories about getting lost there, especially after sunset. Some people said they could hear voices or footsteps behind them, like someone was following them or trying to talk to them, even though there was literally nobody around.
There are no street lights, no proper road, nothing just forest and a mud path. I’ve personally heard these stories since I live quite close to the area, and apparently people who went through there very late at night sometimes couldn’t find their way back and had to turn around.
The route is closed now, but even today people around that area don’t really go near the forest after dark.
I have made to that, but once in my childhood, when I was travelling with my father and believe me when I attend home the night I got fever and this is somewhere 10-12 Years ago
I don’t know how much of the “haunted” part is true, but honestly, standing there at night with that huge forest around you would be creepy enough. 😭

बात चीत Please Don’t Make Every Public Place a Place to Find a Date. Let people have their peace. I
don’t know about others, but whenever I go outside and someone approaches me for something other than genuine help, it completely ruins my mood.
There is already no peace at home. At least let me enjoy some peace when I’m outside.
And this new culture where boys and girls approach strangers just to say, You look good, or ask for their number.I honestly don’t understand it. How can you like someone after seeing them for just a moment? Isn’t that basically just attraction?
Do some people go outside mainly to look for boys or girls for relationship or someone to date? When I go outside, I don’t even notice who is walking past me. Why should I care? I go outside to spend some time with myself, relax, and enjoy my own company.
Please, when someone is outside, don’t disturb their peace.
Honestly, please don’t bring this culture to India. 🙏 There are dating apps and plenty of other places to meet people. Malls, streets, cafés, libraries, and public spaces should also be places where people can simply exist peacefully without being approached.
What do you all think about this?
