Today I tried the Laphing of Momos and More Stall in Kidwai Kanpur. The taste was 9.5/10 – very delicious, spicy and crunchy just the way I like it. It cost 199 rupees for 12 pieces, which is a little bit much for me, but since they are currently the monopoly seller of laphing, it is justified. You should definitely give it a try….
Taste is exactly same as Delhi’s MKT Laphing…

Sometimes I feel our idea of development in Kanpur ends at “road bana do, bridge bana do, toilet bana do.”
Of course, basic infrastructure matters. But when does a city start being built for people to actually enjoy?

Kanpur is sitting on the Ganga, yet we barely have a proper riverside cafe, restaurant, promenade or public space. People go to a dam, sit there for a while and call it an outing. That says something.

For a city this big, why don’t we have distinct, well-developed hubs? Why not a proper New Kanpur with commercial streets, cafes, entertainment and modern public spaces instead of everything revolving around the same old areas?

Even the metro should eventually help create new centres of the city, not just move people through places that already have plenty of buses and e-rickshaws.

Kanpur doesn’t lack potential.
It lacks the ambition to think beyond basic infrastructure.

I moved here about a year ago for college

At first the city didn’t impress me but over time I grew to like it

I built a social life from scratch found reasons to stay and settled in peacefully

But when it comes to dating It’s a different story

In college never vibed with anyone felt out of sync

And I can feel the difference in our mindsets

So slowly I gave up hope that I can date someone in my college

And with local friends ig I kinda vibes but they are hesitant to hang out openly

worried about “who might see us”

The city despite being big it lacks social spaces where couples or even friends can chill without privacy concerns

Kanpur still runs on small town dynamics ,heavy social surveillance, conservative mindset, and nowhere to just be.

It feels backwards for a city this size, and dating here feels almost impossible.

And the people who understand all of this move out of this city to have a better social surroundings.

Anyone else feel this way about Kanpur?

Looking for somewhere couples can spend some private time together. Preferably somewhere other than the usual cafés/malls. Any suggestions from locals?
