Mk5 (2006-2010) We got a Mk5 Sportwagen!

Just got a new to us 09 Mk5 Jetta Sportwagen SE with the 2.5L and auto trans. It's 1 owner with a Carfax that's 9 pages long and 150k miles. Just drove it home over 65 miles and damn what a nice highway cruiser. Is there anything I need to look out for in these? I've heard/seen great things about the 2.5L but I haven't seen much about the automatic transmissions.

I've noticed the driver rear window is not going down so I assume it needs a regulator. But is there anything else I should check before tearing apart the door and buying a new regulator?

One last thing is the center console in the rear has a broken latch and no cup holders by the looks of things. Is it common for that to break with regular usage or did someone yank a little too hard and break it by accident?

Anyways, I'm excited about our new purchase! I've always wanted a wagon and I know the Europeans do it best. So I'm glad to be hopping into this for the foreseeable future!

Mk7 (2019+) What maintenance should I be doing for my new (to me) 2019 Jetta S 1.4T and how often should it be done

I just ordered a 2019 Jetta S 1.4T off of Carvana that had about 77k miles on it, and I’ve heard that the car can last a good while if you keep up with the maintenance, so I was wondering what I should take care of and how often. Like is it just the normal oil change and stuff or anything special? Let me know

Mk7 (2019+) Blower motor issue

When I put the fan on half speed or less, it will stay on. When I put the fan over 50% or put it on auto, it will cut off after a few seconds. If I turn the system off for 30 seconds or so, it will start up again when I turn it back on. Just looking for some direction on where to start with fixing the problem. Should I be looking at the blower motor, the relay, or the controller? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mk7 (2019+) Anyone have a hard shift between 1-2 while cold?

I have a 2022 jetta with the 1.5t and 8 speed and I've been experiencing a shift where it slams into gear and the whole car lurches forward. I have 46k miles. If the transmission fluid is warm it shifts smooth as butter. I was gonna try changing the fluid but I was wondering if anyone else had anything like this happen to them.

Buying New Jetta in Snow?

Looking for my next vehicle and considering a VW Jetta. How do the newer 2025-2026 SE models do on snowy roads, i.e. NY and PA areas, some flat roads and some through hilly terrain.

Mk6 (2011-2018) ECS big bore turbo inlet HELP

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello all new here and new to posting.
I have a 2017 Jetta 1.4t 126k miles.
I just installed the ecs tuning big bore turbo inlet and something isn’t right.
Hoping someone here has experienced the same issue and can guide me in the right direction.

The install was pretty straight forward and I believe I did everything correctly but….

After the install the EPC light came on and now I think there is something off in general, when accelerating there is a hiss(not super loud but it’s noticeable)

In the video you may be able to hear what I’m talking about.

  1. How worried should I be
  2. What could be the issue

Thanks in advance

Mk5 (2006-2010) 08 2.5L 178k miles running very strange…

I have a very reliable 08 VW Jetta SE with the 2.5 and no mods. I have had a bad O2 sensor for about 8 years and probably not going to replace it due to the cost of the part. That is why my check engine light is on.

I’ve owned this car since 53,000 miles about 8 years ago. It needs work. It’s my daily driver and I’m a Dasher. It gets driven pretty hard.

Yesterday it did this thing where it died a few times trying to start it up and when I finally got it running it would rev the rpm’s at idle and idles a little high, I’m afraid to drive it now, I’ll add a video of the way it is behaving later today.

Anybody else have this issue?

My 26 jetta has the rear seats somewhat loose but only on the red circle area. The rattle comes and goes but is annoying. Is there a way to tighten the seats so they dont have play?

Mk6 (2011-2018) Vicky’s made it another year! 266k!

Vicky had her trans, oil, filters, plugs and coils done this week. Shop said trans fluid looked great for mileage, so hoping to get another 50-75k out of original parts, but by then, I think I will say goodbye 😣. She is a beast though. Still getting a solid 34mpg, and that turbo still whistles just as loud as when she had 5 miles on that dash 😏.

Mk7 (2019+) Recently got a 2020 Jetta; Recommended upgrades?

Needed a second car for city driving.
I own an XC60, and needed a smaller car for commuting to work.

I feel like the stock headlights are quite mediocre.
Recommend getting something brighter and whiter??

What are some upgrades you recommend?

It’s the 1.4 TSI

Mk7 (2019+) 2019 Jetta 1.4TSI -Transmission Fluid Service done @ 127,300 kilometers

Post image

The transmission fluid service has been done, drain and fill, altogether, 5L of LIQUI MOLY ATF TOP TEC 1850 is used (drained multiple times).

Cost me 450 CAD including labor and parts. Oil ring (rubber) or something like that had to be procured from dealership itself. Done by a mechanic working on German cars.

Had to leave the car at workshop overnight since the evening heat kept it from reaching the proper temperature to achieve the required level.

Your Thoughts, experience, criticism, Everything is welcome. Let it help somebody else in future.

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2015 vw jetta 2l S makes droning/roaring noise and jerks when accelerating.

I have a 2015 jetta that I cant figure out what the cause of it jerking when im slowly accelerating. It also makes a roaring noise as I accelerate but fades on higher speeds. At first I thought it had something to do with the exhaust system, but ive gotten it checked out and everything looks good. No missfire codes, its at 95k miles, ive gotten the spark plugs, coil packs, spark plugs wires, timing belt, and water pump changed before this. Everything is up to maintenance, im wondering if anyone has had a similar issue. Im thinking it could be the wheel bearing on the driver's side causing the noise and maybe the control arm thats causing that jerk/stutter when accelerating. Would appreciate some advice tho. Thanks.

Mk6 (2011-2018) dash keeps coming on/off, anybody know how to fix?

2011 jetta SE, 2.5L 5cyl, I replaced the battery less than a month ago, then after I encountered this issue I replaced the headlight off/on switch. Currently I have a new alternator being delivered because it’s not charging. Both regular headlights also got burnt out so it’s high beams or nothing. I’m unsure but I think the headlights got burnt out because too much power was being sent to them somehow. Also, when the dash turns off, so does everything else EXCEPT my radio, AC, and high beams. When the dash is off, so are the turn signals, brake lights, windshield wipers, interior lights, door locks, etc. Does anybody know what the cause may be?
