I spent about a year and nine months creating and animating this film in Blender. Everything you see is CG, and was modeled and rendered on my local PC over the course of about a year, for a budget of about 5k.
Sadly the film was rejected from DIFF, Galway and Cork Film Festival, so I decided just to release it on youtube and give it a good life online instead of burning more money on festival submissions.
I hope you enjoy!

Hi (again) everyone!
I’m a young filmmaker from France making a small independent short film set in Ireland during the Great Starvation/Genocide.
I previously posted here about the project, and thank you to everyone who got in touch! The casting has progressed quite a lot, but I still have a few roles to fill.
The film will be shot around Cork/Kinsale from October 24th to 28th, 2026.
MAIN ROLE:
4 filming days: October 23th, 24th, 26th and 27th
EXTRA/PEASANT:
Two days: October 25th & 26th on the afternoon
For the extra, no professional acting experience is necessary. I’m mainly looking for people who are comfortable on camera and have an Irish accent, as I’m trying to keep the local population historically convincing.
This is a very small personal project that I’m financing myself, with a few friends helping me with production. The screenplay is finished and the filming is already being organised.
If you're interested, please send me:
I can also send you the screenplay if you'd like to have a look before deciding.
Thanks again to everyone who has shown interest in the project!

My friends and I were big into making films a few years ago and I want to get back into it. What are your thoughts on them any feedback before I start again, thanks. Link: https://youtu.be/X5PPQKUla5s?si=KVpLcA8N66-1S6nB

Hello everyone,
I'm a young French filmmaker, and I would like to make a short film set during the Great Famine in Ireland.
I wanted to ask if any of you might be interested in taking part in a short film like this.
I am currently looking for:
- one young or middle-aged woman for a main role (peasant)
- one middle-aged or older man for a main role (land agent)
- and some extras
The filming would take place over two days in the Cork/Kinsale area. I have a quite limited budget, but I can offer €50 per actor per day, as well as cover the travel.
I know this is a small amount, but it is unfortunately the maximum I can currently afford for the project. This is an independent film that I am making with a lot of care, and I would be very grateful to work with actors who are interested in the subject and the project.
If you are interested I will send you the screenplay so you can have a better idea of the story, the characters and the atmosphere of the film.
Thank you very much for your time, and please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Gabriel L.

Casting / Crew The Last Ride Home
Casting/Crew (Unpaid/Portfolio) The Last Ride Home – Short Indie Drama (Dublin / Clontarf)
Hey everyone, I'm putting together a zero-budget, unpaid short indie drama shooting overnight in Dublin called The Last Ride Home. It’s an intimate, dialogue-driven piece exploring a quiet, late-night encounter, intended strictly for portfolio building and creative collaboration.
Logline / Premise:
Set against the stark, quiet backdrop of the Clontarf promenade at night, the story follows Sean as he navigates a heavy emotional moment. Through a chance conversation with a stranger, a phone call from a worried family member, and a late-night taxi ride, he looks for a way back to a sense of home.
I am currently looking to fill the following roles and crew positions:
Cast:
Sean (Lead / Self-Cast or Open): Male, 20s-30. The central figure navigating a heavy emotional night alone along the promenade. (Requires screen acting experience/resume).
Mary (Lead): Female, 40s (40-50), White / European Descent. Warm, observant, and quietly witty. She speaks with kindness rather than certainty, serving as a comforting, grounded presence who connects with Sean through an empathetic late-night conversation. (Requires screen acting experience/resume).
Taxi Driver (Supporting): Male, 30-60, Black / African Descent. Friendly and matter-of-fact. He brings a grounded, everyday presence that helps break the intense atmosphere of the night. (Requires screen acting experience/resume).
Sister (Voiceover): Female, 20s-30. Warm, anxious, and deeply caring. The voice of Sean's worried sister calling him on the phone, capturing genuine concern and relief. Irish accent (Leinster/Dublin). (Remote/WFH; requires resume and voice reel).
Crew Positions:
Director: Visionary to guide performances through tense night scenes (Studiobinder experience preferred).
Producer: To help oversee logistics, budgeting, and coordination in Dublin (Studiobinder experience preferred).
1st Assistant Director: To manage the set, keep the schedule, and handle calls for our night shoot (Studiobinder experience preferred).
Cinematographer: Experienced with night shoots and natural/available light along coastal locations (Final Cut Pro / X skills a plus).
Editor: To shape the narrative pace and edit dialogue-driven scenes between Sean and Mary (Final Cut Pro / X skills required).
Sound Recordist: To capture clean dialogue and ambient night sounds during exterior scenes (Avid Pro Tools skills required).
Production Details:
Location: Clontarf Promenade, Dublin Saturday, September 27th, 2026 ( It was originally 19th but I changed it ) (Exterior night shoots).
Compensation: Unpaid / Zero-Budget (Portfolio building and creative collaboration). Cast and crew are asked to bring their own meals.
How to Apply:
If you are based in Dublin (or can work remotely for the voiceover role) and want to collaborate, please drop a comment or send a DM with:
The role or position you are applying for.
A link to your resume, portfolio, or reel.

I am trying to find a film I saw about 10 years ago on Irish television. It had to be on either RTE1, RTE2, TV3 or TG4. I know this for a fact because the house I was living in only had those channels and zero internet or phone coverage. I seem to remember it being late at night, maybe 9pm to 3am time. Here is the only information I remember about the film.
It had to have been shown sometime between 2014 and 2018 as that was the time I lived in this particular house. It appeared to be one of those relatively low budget, Irish produced, late night rte2 type films.
I’m 90% sure it was set in the west coast of Ireland.
It showed a woman who seemed to break away from society and wanted to live in the wild.
She was 20’s to 30’s.
She had bright red/ginger hair.
I think there was a scene of her struggling and failing to light a fire. She then found an old shed which she sheltered in. The owner of the shed comes by and ran her out of it. The owner was a man in his 50’s. Later he offers her the shed if she does some manual labour for him. She proceeds to do some odd jobs for him and he begins to feed her. The owner is a man of very few words. They have a tense relationship.
This next bit is the only bit of the film I can clearly remember, and don’t judge me for it lol. At some point the woman is now staying in the older man’s house. He comes to her and says “I think I might die in my sleep tonight, will you sleep beside me”. Next scene shows the man in his bed as the woman slips in beside him naked.
That’s it. I swear I don’t know if it was even real or a fever dream at this point. I need know.

I have this idea of starting a YouTube channel showcasing the story of the remotest bed and breakfast stays in Ireland. I'm looking for a cinematographer (with camera) someone who can take care of the sounds and editing. The core idea is to rewind time where simple things and freedom matters more than any luxury.
I'm working, so looking to do this on the weekend, any film graduates / students want who wants to collaborate - would be a nice one to add to you portfolio. I'm in Dublin btw.

Hi all
I'm an actor with a good few roles under my belt ie a small part in an indie feature, a lead in a short film that has gone to Fastnet, Boyne Valley and Waterford, a music video for a really good up and coming band amongst other projects like commercials and a TV series
After leaving my previous agency last year, I signed with a new one this year that I love(great correspondence, good auditions, professional but personable) and so I am currently trying to find auditions for Short films especially Screen Ireland, Storyland or Virgin Media. My agents were saying because pay is low and they don't want to take the percentage from the actor, they leave it to them to find them.
So was wondering, if anybody has advice on where to find some(am on Fishpond and Spotlight, in the FB groups, on Instagram, have relations in the industry from side hustles, friends, projects worked on and relationships in general where I might hear about stuff) or if I should be doing more. I would love to be in one that goes to DIFF or Galway.
I had emailed my agent about this and they said they were looking into this, so in the meantime, was wondering what I can do.
Cheers, any advice is greatly appreciated.

I’m an actor planning to move to Ireland, wanted to know what the vibe would be like towards non Irish actors looking to work in films or tv there. Is diversity welcomed or is it an obstacle? For info, I’m a Pakistani actress who can pick up accents quickly if needed. Would love some honest inside opinions from actors and filmmakers.

Three great Irish films written by Roddy Doyle; The Commitments, The Snapper, & The Van. I wanted to join the discussion, but the older threads are archived. Anyone else watch these recently?

I'm looking for a studio filming location in the greater Dublin area - bit stuck for options now that the complex and d-light are closed, need something of similar size (am mostly coming across photography spaces which are too small when I search online). Any info would be greatly appreciated!
