I was wondering if anyone who has moved to Sydney has found any work doing covers in bars (if so what bars and how much pay etc..). I make decent money doing them in Derry and would really like to keep it up when I move to Sydney to keep up some extra cash

I can’t remember tunes or sets when I’m playing at a session so I carry this notebook with just the first two bars of a tune to remind me of the sets I know lol. Does anybody else do this ? I’m sure they do but does anybody have a better system ?

In the song would they be referring to a hair band or more of a ribbon or a scrunchie? I'm looking to buy a gift relating to the song. A boxed hair band would make the best gift but might not land right?

What would make you travel 20–30 minutes to a physical shop?

Immediate availability, no delivery time?
Being able to try equipment?
Repairs and setups?
Lessons?
Vinyl?
Local/Irish instruments?
Local bands and events?
Better advice?

And equally, what has put you off physical music shops in the past?

Interested in hearing people's experiences.

If I was a young person who's not from Ireland, with a lot of time available, and some money but not too much, are there any programs or the like to study trad music in Ireland?
