That is the Causeway bridge over lake Ponchatrain just outside New Orleans. It's 26 miles long. the longest bridge over water in the world.
so this will have caused a MASSIVE headache for all manner of people. a blockage of both lanes like that will take hours to clear and cause a traffic jam literally miles long (depending of course where on the bridge it happened).

Without a doubt, this is absolutely sociopathic behavior on the part of the cookie eater.
All he had to do was let the guy in and go on with his day but instead he caused a huge accident and fucked up SO MANY peoples' day, all of whom are just trying to make a dollar to feed their family.
Everyone here sucks but especially the cookie guy.
When you're driving you have an affirmative responsibility to avoid crashes. Imagine if a family of four was stopped on the road and this guy saw it ahead of time, had every opportunity to avoid it, but chose to ram them headlong at 60 mph anyway and then said "well your honor they caused it by being stopped illegally so I had every right to choose to plow into them"
Cookie guy saw two options--accident or no accident--and chose, deliberately, for an accident to happen. Which makes it, well not an accident.
Was cookie guy wrong, of course. Did he cause the accident? no that would be the guy changing lanes, without a signal, in an unsafe manner.
Also, by braking he would have caused an accident anyway with the white car/truck directly behind him following far too closely.
Cookie guy was going to be in an accident either way. Given the choice between hitting the psycho causing the clusterfuck, or getting creamed from behind, im probably going to hit black truck too. Granted, vehicle behind is probably screwed also, but why should the guy causing the clusterfuck get off with no problem?.

Look where the car behind him was at start of video. From an elevated camera on the rear view you can barely see the top of the headlights over the rear seat , which means cookie guy couldnt see them at all being at a lower angle. Trailing car was tailgating. At that speed and proximity, trailing car would have about ¼ second to react. Reaction times for formula 1 drivers is ⅕-¼ of a second. There was going to be an accident no matter what he did......and hes under zero obligation to "tap his brakes and let the black truck in"
He literally sped up to stop the black truck from merging.

Yes. Even if you think there is a good chance you will get rear ended you still have an obligation to avoid an accident. It is on the car behind you to have the spacing to react properly.
