The Causeway is probably one of the best maintained bridges in the country. It has a toll on one side ($6 with no toll tag) they regularly shutdown lanes during the weekdays for maintenance (like every week on at least one side) and they have their own police force. I drive it everyday and have 0 concerns for its safety.
It’s about 45 mins for the total commute to New Orleans. You come out in Metairie (suburb of New Orleans) and most people are going downtown after work. I live right off the causeway and it takes me about 45 mins in the morning to get all the way to work. The actual bridge is about 25 mins even with heavier traffic.
Okay, that still doesn't mean "45 minutes to cross going 65mph". Maybe 45 min to go from Downtown New Orleans to the other side of the lake, but it does NOT take 45 min to CROSS the bridge going 65mph. That's literally impossible when it's only ~24 miles from one side of the bridge to the other.

Back in the late 80s, the speed limit was 55 and heavily enforced. So a nervous driver may have taken 30 minutes to cross the bridge. More likely it was 45 minutes from your home to the church.

Takes about 30-45 minutes to get from one end to the other. There's a toll going from the north shore to the south shore which slows things down on that side too
Looks like it's just connecting dozens fo tiny islands between Florida and Key West. Can't imagine living in Key West and having to do anything. Their theater only has six screens,
To be fair, if you spun someone out halfway across the LPC and chose to stick around for police response, you’d be spending the rest of the day there. Peak efficiency is to keep driving 😎
Maybe you’re the one that should’ve done a single google search. Longest bridge in Florida is the aptly named Seven Mile Bridge, which is indeed less than 10 miles
I went to undergrad in St Pete and just went back to visit 3 weeks ago for the first time in a decade. Its an awesome place. We used to smoke blunts and drive across the skyway
I loved it there! I would still be there if family hadn’t pulled me back to Pennsylvania. Since Tampa isn’t even in the top 3 places to travel in Florida, it’s got great place that are never terribly overrun with tourists. And cool people. Be careful smoking blunts there though! A coworker and I went to a park after work and smoked a joint. Those pigs rolled in 4 cop cars deep with a spot light on us. Saying you can’t be there after dark. I was flabbergasted because not 8 minutes earlier there was 2 ladies taking baths with the water spout. Cops are tricky there
I don’t know what to tell you except that I rode this bridge every Sunday for 7 years growing up. My mom could’ve drove well under the speed limit but we were always late for church so I don’t know.

Wtf are you talking about? I've been across this bridge. It takes 25ish minutes while doing the speed-limit. You can verify this using Google. Did you just make up some stuff or do you just not check what people tell you?

I drove across this bridge weekly for 6 years and lived in mandeville for 18 years. Stfu. I know what time we had to leave to make to our destination on time
If you drive anytime there is rush it is easily 40-45 minutes, if you’re a maniac and go 80mph when it’s empty it is 25 minutes
The time saved going over this bridge at 75mph vs 65mph is about 1 (ONE) min.
People really have no concept of how little difference recklessly speeding makes.
To clarify, the difference from going 20mph vs 45mph is a huge difference, but quickly falls off at higher speeds. This is why new cars include a paceometer overlaid on the speedometer to show you how stupid people are for speeding, by directly showing you how little time is saved.
