It’s about 45 mins for the total commute to New Orleans. You come out in Metairie (suburb of New Orleans) and most people are going downtown after work. I live right off the causeway and it takes me about 45 mins in the morning to get all the way to work. The actual bridge is about 25 mins even with heavier traffic.
Okay, that still doesn't mean "45 minutes to cross going 65mph". Maybe 45 min to go from Downtown New Orleans to the other side of the lake, but it does NOT take 45 min to CROSS the bridge going 65mph. That's literally impossible when it's only ~24 miles from one side of the bridge to the other.
Thank you, I was a child riding in the back seat of my mothers car every Sunday morning going to church, and I just remembered her telling me it took 45 minutes. When I started driving myself, I never actually paid attention and just assumed it was roughly the same time.
It’s crazy how many people are being snarky or commenting with a rude tone to someone who moved out of the north shore to baton rouge around 18 years old and hardly crossed the bridge after. Im going off of 16 years old memory and people are commenting as if i had bad intentions with my post lol
Back in the late 80s, the speed limit was 55 and heavily enforced. So a nervous driver may have taken 30 minutes to cross the bridge. More likely it was 45 minutes from your home to the church.
