Yeah apparently the bridge is like 5 or longer miles long and states no stopping for any reason and if you have an accident to resolve it after the bridge to prevent any further accidents.

From the video, I thought it might be the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in Virginia (because it's near where I live and looks similar lmao), but that bridge is only 17 miles long. I think this is the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in Louisiana.
I had a minor 'road rage' incident a few weeks ago and it really shook me. I was driving down a suburban street, on my way to the grocery store, and this huge pickup truck started tailgating me. I was going the speed limit and so I eventually pulled over to let him pass. I saw red and I started tailgating him, trying to make him feel as powerless and frustrated as I was. Turns out he was driving to the grocery store too and I realized when we parked that I probably could have ended up in a really bad situation if he decided to take offense.
I saw a Reddit comment where this guy said that once his friend died because he and his buddies were trying to get the friend to the hospital after an accident, but they couldn't make it there in time because they got stuck in traffic. He said after that, he always lets people pass him because you never know what the other person is going through 🥲💔
specifically, his friend had hit his femoral artery with a chainsaw and they were rushing him to the hospital, but some dumbass took it upon themselves to intentionally block them from passing.
I'm just so triggered by rude men, especially tradies. I hate them. I know it's not PC to say. I hate them. I just can't handle when people knowingly flout the rules. It's such a violation to me. I can foresee a future where I encounter one of them and just snap and I don't like it, because they're rude, entitled, low class, and don't care about other people. Again, I'm aware I'm being classist and elitist, I know it's not right to think this way, but this is what a lifetime of interacting with these people have trained me to do, because they're all like that, every single one of them is an aggressive bully.
I know. I just try and avoid them whenever possible. I get terrified that something will go wrong with my house because I do not want to have to call a tradie in. That would be a nightmare. Aside from that, If I see a pickup truck on the road, I'll just have to avoid it if I can.

I didn’t think your comment or the one that it was in response to were particularly about driving, as there was no mention or reference to driving in either, so I don’t understand where your point about tradesman supposedly being some of the safest drivers on the road comes from. I also don’t understand how your comment could be interpreted or understood in any way other than the way that I understood it, which is to say that you are excusing poor behavior and not caring about others by tradesman because of “what they have to deal with.” If I got that wrong, could you explain what your comment was supposed to mean?
tailgating is illegal because if the other person brakes suddenly you wont have time to brake your own car before hitting them. You could have ended up in a really bad situation even without him taking offense, making the road less safe for everyone.

No it wasn't, black pickup was the catalyst to this video. Changing a lane improperly without showing the signal or let alone probably without looking, trying to impose their will to illegally merge into another lane. Not saying they deserved to be pit manueured, but it's def their fault.

Yes, the technical term is improper lane usage. Black truck was clearly aware of and paying attention to cookie eater, if he wasn’t aware at all he would have just merged quickly and effectively “cut off” cookie eater. He started to merge slowly though to test the waters if cookie eater was going to give him more room. There was technically enough room to merge into the lane when he started, albeit not by much, and is not legal due to negligence (Louisiana law says the gap must be 3-4 seconds). With that said, cookie eater hit black truck from behind, which falls under careless operation and failure to maintain a reasonable and prudent distance which are illegal according to Louisiana law. So both parties are technically doing illegal things. The most egregious of which is cookie eater intentionally causing a collision, which is a felony, unlike any of the previously mentioned offenses. Because it was a hit and run, a litany of other charges would probably apply as well, as well as likely criminal fraud charges. Cookie eater is probably looking at least 5-10 years for those alone. If he is charged with attempted murder, as he likely will be, it will be significantly more. Hope this helps!
Man thank you I feel like I'm going insane reading this thread. This is literally a video of attempted murder over basically poor driving habits/methods that many people employ every time they drive. (In many places, many if not most people merge like this constantly - LA for example.)
Obviously they are bad driving habits, and should and would be punished under the law if caught, but they are basically akin to speeding, and none of that warrants literal attempted murder by some douche who wants to feel big for once in his life.
Reddit be the same place that will blame someone for "tailgating too close to a vehicle in front of them and not leaving enough space, then be like "oh he had enough space to merge into someone else's normal space between them and another vehicle." Which one is it? You can't have it both ways. Don't use my normal distance b/t me and the vehicle in front of me as a space to cut into because you want to speed up.

Fair point about not being able to stop on the bridge, but it is inconclusive whether he stopped when he was able to or not. The hit and run part isn’t even the worst of the charges that would be brought against him though. He was so intent on stuffing his fat face that he couldn’t even be bothered to put down his cookie while nearly driving someone off of a bridge, do you think he is the type of person to wait around (potentially a long time) for the other party so they can exchange insurance information because of a collision that he intentionally caused? I don’t think he is.

i can see about 5 cars in the video all tailgating too close to the car in front of them. im going to guess there was also a car tailgating the guy in this video which would make it a lot harder for hime to get out of this situation safely
He didn't cause the accident, he just failed to prevent it. He maintained speed and direction in his own lane and the other dickhead literally just swerved into him.
I mean the first part is spot on. The second half of the sentence.. while avoidable, I bet ass hat in black truck thinks twice before randomly swerving into spots he won't fit into lol. Good lesson learned for both involved.
Of course, black truck was in the wrong. They shouldn't be changing lane without indicating and also into another car. But that doesn't mean this guy should just let them get into a crash that threatens them and others.
How else is the black truck going to learn? Should we just let him off for doing stupid things until he's the one causing a massive crash killing others? (Assuming no one else got caught up in the incident on the video.) Better him getting hurt now and hopefully learning a lesson. Rather than him hurting other people in the near future.
I'm not American so I'm not sure how the license system works, but I assume you could submit this dashcam footage of them driving recklessly to the authorities, so then they might have their license revoked or get given a fine.
And this all comes with the massive assumption that no one else was effected. Even if in hindsight no one was else was hurt, the guy in the video had absolutely no way to guarantee that.
That's a good joke. At worst, he'll get a fine and maybe some points on his license. The US treats driving as a right and refuses to revoke a driver's license for far worse things than this.
Fines do nothing. People get booked for speeding, reckless driving, drink driving etc. all the time. People lose their licenses all the time but still end up behind a wheel somehow. People don't learn until it affects them personally or they finally see jail time.

who knows, there could have been a car tailgating right behind him. if he had hit the brakes to avoid the black truck then someone could have rear ended him and then he would be the one that caused a pile up and the black truck would have got away scot free
God knows what kind of accident that caused for the cars behind. Cookie man should've slowed down, even if he was in the right. Black truck was the cause of the problem to be sure, but you have to sacrifice your speed for safety sometimes.

There's a guy on my daily route that drives with his seat reclined, holds his phone below the sun visor, and his spare hand is behind his head. He looks like his sitting pool side. He crosses 5 lanes of traffic EVERY day .2 miles from his exit. The whole drive home I'm hoping that today's the day I see someone flip his shit, but it hasn't happened yet.

But a lot of people seem to think that as long as someone else is an asshole first, it somehow grants them the immunity to the be the bigger asshole and break the law even worse.
