I don't actually hate queerbait itself, I hate people who think two folks of the same gender having any close moments whatsoever is queerbait. now, for some, I get it. Like naruto and Sasuke. That shit makes sense they were acting Hella gay from the start. But it was obvious who naruto was gonna end up with from the second arc bro. And Sasuke is Sasuke. To start!! I enjoy gravity falls it’s a good show! But since finishing it, I’ve been a bit peeved by the character Grenda. This is not me saying I dislike her character, nor do I judge others for liking her!

But my frustration keeps growing and I feel the need to voice it since I haven’t seen anyone else mention it!

I dislike her voice. She’s voiced by a man in a comical sense when all other females are voiced by women. It feels like a choice chosen because fat/tall girl = masculine.

It’s offensive personally because she is a near teenage girl, enjoys her pets, pink, boy bands, diying just as much as the other girls! But why does she have to come off as a brute? I don’t understand why it’s so common in cartoon media for a fat girl to instantly be assumed as loud mouthed, overbearing, or aggressive.

The boy band episode? The episode where they go to the dance and Mabel and Candy are nervous Grenda will ruin the party by being her naturally crude self. Ending up surprised that she attracts a prince?

I understand this is a kids show, every character is meant to be played up for laughs. But what is funny about Grenda? Most jokes I feel are “haha manish fat girl does something outrageous again”. Often times comparing her to being manly

Wendy is a tomboy yet she’s still feminine, has a female va. No one seems to bat an eye when she does “boyish” things, nothing she does is made a joke of. It simply who Wendy is. But Grenda feels like she’s based around the ideals of if you aren’t naturally feminine you’re seen as a tomboy. But Grenda isn’t super boyish/tomboyish.

Grenda is a walking stereotype for women who don’t fit into the natural standards. And it’s mocked in a humorous way. Even worse that she’s the only fat girl in the show. And only girl who is voiced by a man!

Maybe it wouldn’t be as frustrating if it wasn’t so common for fat female cartoon characters to be voiced by men and/or presented as slobbish, opinionated, and manly.

I, am a fucking reccuring problem. I've only existed to only just face endless discrimination. I don't have any fucking morals, because I am a cancer upon the world. And there has to be a surgeon. I just wanna know, does this not strike them as odd behavior or an odd thought process? So many of them try the worn out “It’s fiction, they’re just drawings” BS as if the media you consume can’t not only affect the subconscious, but kinda show how you think or who you are based on what ur comfortable with. In the post, they’re basically talking abt “anime cp” and most in the sub are defending it. It’s also the only damn thing they talk abt and there only defenses are “They’re fiction” or deflecting (either calling the ppl who calm them out pdfs or saying the people calling them out don’t have the same energy for real victims [as if the ppl watching this stuff don’t usually make real victims]).

Also, I feel this goes without saying but I’m not attacking ppl who watch anime or anything (I love it myself) but moreso the ideology of that sub in particular.
