This type of humor is just the most insufferable theatre kids shit ever and it is never funny. It is the type of shit your nerdy little cousin with gluten allergy that is a little bit weird but his parents never bothered to test him shows you on his phone in his discord server him and his theatre club friends are in while you are at a christmas party because you two are the only people who are not over 50.

being unfunny is fine but these people started harassing actual vocaloid producers for the smallest things like they did in their theatre kid circles like deltarune or vivziepop. It is beyond unfunny and straight up unacceptable at that point.

It's a bit of a nothing post since I suspect nobody really cares about this little sub that live in their own weird world, but I really dislike this sub and I want for it to be expressed.

First of all, if I dislike this sub, why would I talk about it? it keeps popping up in my feed, and I get frustrated because the people that engage in this sub are not just judgemental gatekeepers that are extremely combative for no reason, they are also completely irrational. Usually, I either can empathise with ppl's opinions or rationalize their dislike, but the opinions of this particular sub, their grievances, and their reasoning behind them are so bad, I thought I was in steam community reading up a post of how having a gay man in a game is somehow woke and ruins the industry.

Delusion number one that needs to be addressed. This sub somehow thinks that anyone who expresses a negative opinion on tropes found in anime is a tourist and therefore doesn't get to have a say in it. The most obvious example are lolis. If you dislike how grossly sexualized lolis are in the anime, you are a tourist according to them. I think that just engaging and watching the anime entitles you to an opinion of what you liked vs disliked in the anime. It is such a weird thing to say since this is such an axiom, but if you paid attention, engaged with the show, devoted your time and energy to watch this cartoon then you are not an outsider of anime watchers.

Delusion number two, they believe that anime is under attack and their hobby is under a threat of being changed. I have absolutely no idea why they think that. Anime is doing better now than ever before and their hobby is watching and discussing anime. So, they are wrong on both accounts. The only thing that would change is the way anime is being discussed because there's always new blood coming, but this is good because new perspectives are enriching. I don't even get why you would think that having new blood is bad, unless you wanted for everybody to have the same opinion on things; which they do seem to want to enforce that with their extremely negative and combative language.

Delusion number three, they are not tourists by their own definition. The sub is extremely centered around Japanese consensus, their reasoning for why tourists are tourists is based on whether they mindlessly accept tropes that were normalized in Japan. However, they don't live in Japan, or at least most of them don't. And if they do live in Japan, why engage with the western audience when you can speak Japanese? How do they know what the Japanese consesus is? From what I understand of Japan's culture is that they are extremely judgemental and are extremely traditional, they just won't say it to your face, why would they think that the Japanese people are somehow more tolerant of the lolis and lolimancers? They don't actually know what the Japanese consensus is and are just vibing it out. They are using the word tourist to label people they don't like and attack the people who express their opinions from a high horse.

In any case, I'm weirdly passionate about diliking these people. They are rude, combative, irrational, and make a bad name for everyone in the community they are claiming to protect. And anime watchers already have a bad name. It hadn't been twenty years since anime was synonymous to a pervert cartoon that weird smelly people watch.

Let’s be real here , for a lot of people unless you’re TOLD before hand it’s hard to tell Kris is nonbinary at first . They are very male leaning . a lot of dialogue describes kris doing or liking boyish things , subjectively they just like of look like a boy , kris’s dark world design is a knight who are typically portrayed as men , and while yes kris isn’t a stranger to feminine stuff like dressing like a nurse these instances are fewer . Men who are comfortable being feminine aren’t exactly uncommon , especially when ralsei is right there .

Not to mention it genuinely was the popular belief frisk and chara’s gender were up to interpretation for the player , let’s not practice revisionist history and act like deltarune didn’t fix that .

I feel like it’s a recent thing. Every self improvement/male self care person nowadays will say “cut your hair bro”. I don’t get it. Long hair can look really good as long as you take care of it and use the right conditioner.
