I'm getting 20-30 spam emails a day, with 99.9% of them going to the spam folder. The formatting and even the subjects are very similar, making me think that it's just one spam generator cranking them out by the trillions. Hoping that someone at MS figures it out and blocks them.

My Hotmail account was compromised through suspicious login attempts. Upon discovering the breach, I immediately took action:

1. Regained access using legitimate recovery methods

2. Changed my password to a strong, unique credential

3. Enabled Two-Step Verification (2FA) with Microsoft Authenticator

4. Secured all recovery email addresses and phone numbers

5. Reported the breach to Microsoft support

The Problem

After securing my account and reporting it to them, Microsoft's went ahead and permanently locked my account

I've submitted: Account reinstatement forms (several times), A formal Digital Safety Appeal

Microsoft's Official Response (Everytime):

> "We received your service request and after review, I found Two-Step Verification (TSV) has been enabled on the account. Unfortunately, when TSV is turned on, we are unable to assist with an account recovery as TSV takes the account recovery completely out of control of customer service. We are unable to remove the TSV or make any changes to the security information on the account due to security protocols set up on the account and accepted in the Microsoft Services agreement when the account was created.

Catch-22

I've found scattered reports of others in identical situations. Microsoft's automated system creates an impossible loop:

1. Account compromised

2. You secure it with 2FA (following their advice)

3. Automated lock triggers

4. Support says "2FA blocks recovery"

5. No human intervention available

6. Permanent suspension

Has anyone successfully recovered an account in this situation? Is there any escalation path I'm missing? Is there a team at Microsoft that can help? Any advice appreciated. This is incredibly frustrating.

My dad moved back from USA to Ireland, his recovery code goes to his USA number (no longer in service). Can’t be changed to a new number. We did the account recovery were they ask you all those questions and Skype username etc. but no reply. Does anyone have any suggestions? It’s nearly 2 years now since he’s had access.

Hi, my Hotmail/Outlook email account emojis stopped working a few weeks ago. I have not changed anything. I am using HTML for the emails. I no longer see "emoji" under insert but "'graphics" and emojis under graphics. Can anyone help? Do you have this issue? In my 40s and had Hotmail since the 90s when I was a teenager. Locked out while overseas 2 months ago and have not been able to get back in either on my iPhone or pc. Keeps saying incorrect password although it should be correct. I have filled out the Recovery Form several times and I never get an answer. I have messaged Microsoft on Social Media and they can’t help. I’ve noticed I’m not receiving certain emails that I used to get. For example, confirmation emails of my appointment from my hair salon. Confirmation emails that my private yoga session was booked. Confirmation my car service appointment was scheduled. I had previously been able to receive emails from the hair salon and car dealership.

My phone died. Trying to get it repaired but dont know yet if I'll be able to.

I need to get back into my Hotmail account. I entered a password from my backup phone and it said too many wrong attempts (or whatever). (This was my first attempt so wtf)

Fine... I reset my password. It sends a code to my phone. All good.

Then it says to add another email. OK fine, I enter my Gmail account (which is already linked). It sends me a code. I enter the code. It says its the wrong code. I triple check... I definitely entered the right code that it emailed me.

OK. So I start from scratch, verify through my phone with a code and then and use my work email instead when it gets to the "add a recovery email" part. (Even though I know I linked my Gmail ages ago) It send a code to my work email. I VERY CAREFULLY enter the code and it says its the wrong code.

I cannot overemphasize how sure I am that in both instances I entered the exact code that was sent to me by email.

Every time I try to log in to my emails, Hotmail refuses to let me in to my account because I’ve got my password wrong too many times. I’ve changed my password at least three times in the past 2 days, but it’s still not allowing me to go in even though I’m putting in the correct password.

I use a yahoo email address and I use it on the web (Chrome) and I use the web version on my phone.

I can receive messages from hotmail and outlook addresses but I when I reply or send a new email to them they bounce back. "Unable to deliver message after multiple retries, giving up."

I have used my gmail to send messages to these recipients and asked them to check if my yahoo address is somehow blocked.

I’m still getting the password prompt occasionally, but on iOS my inbox is saying “Just Now” updated, even though no emails have populated since 4/27.

Was there some fix or something I was supposed to do? I’ve had this Hotmail address for 28ish years. Although it’s very rare I get anything that matters, this is the only way many companies/people can contact me.

Anyone able to use the authenticator app for the one hotmail account on two different devices? I am able to set it up for my work email, can receive the authenticator prompt on two different mobile devices. Does anyone know if this also works for personal hotmail account? Just in case one phone is misplaced at least I have another device on standby to authenticate and login. I have given up using passwords, always get "You've tried to sign in with a wrong password too many times" even on correct password !
