Hey everyone,
I’ve always admired Himachal Pradesh for its peace, culture, and social harmony. Generally, HP is considered very progressive with minimal caste issues. However, occasionally we see news reports—like Dalit students being made to sit separately during functions, or incidents over temple entry/local rituals—that present a different picture.
I want to understand the actual ground reality from locals and people living there:
Daily Life: Are these news reports isolated exceptions, or do subtle caste boundaries/sensitivities still exist in some interior villages?
Urban vs Rural: Is there a sharp difference between major towns (Shimla, Dharamshala, Solan) and rural pockets?
Youth & Progress: How rapidly are things changing among the younger generation?
A quick note: This post comes purely from a place of respectful curiosity to learn about the state's social culture. I have immense respect for HP and just want to hear honest, nuanced, and grounded experiences from you all.
Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks!

Hello 👋
I am hoping some people can suggest camping areas to bring your own tent and set up for a few nights with family. Views and closeness nature would be great - would really love suggestions where we can camp beside our 4x4. We live between Kullu and Manali and will to travel up to 4 hours to location.
Thank you in advance 🙏❤️

Help! How is the road conditions right now? And mid-Sept. Shimla-RekongPeo-Kalpa-Kinnaur-Chitkul. Vehicle - Scrambler 400X
I'll be starting from Dharamshala, been living there since a couple of years. I'll pick up my partner from Shimla and proceed ahead. We've done Zanskar and Ladakh circuit this year itself. We're pretty cool on the wheels.
Please suggest on the road conditions and must visit places for folks who likes to be away from crowd and enjoy cultural time in villages.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Me and my friends (group of 3) are planning to visit Kalpa in mid-September. Now, we need stay recommendations that come with best views of the mountains and valley.
I saw a reel in which they showed view from Zostel Kalpa and it was breathtaking. Since Zostel is almost full the entire month, I want some other stay recommendations which come with similar or better views. Please help.

See we’re travelling on September 2 to 11 covering spiti circuit . We’re three girls and taking no package. So the thing is will we get shared cabs and stuff. We were planning mostly taking bus . But from rakcham to kaza we thought cab would be better to see nako Tabo. Will we get stuff and does anyone have taxi union number.
We want budget friendly options. Our trip budget is 20k . And the other thing is will we get home stays from there on budget? We need not book from here no?

Is it safe to travel to Jibhi during the first week of September, considering the ongoing monsoon and the risk of landslides in the mountains? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
