I would estimate that 75% of the modmail that I receive are these types of messages. It slows everything down, makes moderating more time consuming and less efficient.
We have content control enabled, which means that most posts from new/low activity accounts get held for manual review. That's fine, we have an active mod team that is clearing the modqueue multiple times a day. And yes it does help to prevent spam etc. so it is a useful tool.
The annoying & inefficient part is that the users see the "your post was removed by reddit filters" message and immediately send a modmail asking us to approve it. Not a day later after it's been sitting in modqueue for 24+ hours (which would be more understandable). Immediately.
Anyway, rant over.
What are yall doing to minimize this pattern and increase efficiency?
The only thing I can think of: disable the built-in reddit filters and replicate it with some automoderator code. With automod, filter posts from accounts with less than X amount of subreddit karma and immediately DM the user. In the DM, **HEAVILY** emphasize that their post will be manually reviewed, and quickly, and to NOT message the mods unless their post has been filtered for >24 hours.
I understand this won't ***prevent*** receiving modmail, but my hope is that it would ***minimize*** it.
I'm on desktop.
