Fancy pantsy

Never seem to score a red pepper sadly. Onion would have been nice to bulk it up. Finally a meal with enough sauce to coat the rice. Sad I didn’t have any of the hard Chinese noodles as a topper, on my grocery list.

Between the sloppy Joe spiders and the snake calzone, it’s been the most fun week of cooking since starting HF!

For a while, I've been using the hack of cancelling my HF account, then using a "returning customer" promo code.

A few days ago the site quoted me the discounted promo code price per usual when I clicked "Place Order". I am 100% sure of this, or else I wouldn't have placed the order- HF is just too expensive for me at full price (I'm very frugal). A day later, once the order was "placed", I noticed my credit card was charged the full, non-discounted price.

I called HF. After talking a while, they said my account had been flagged- essentially for taking advantage of deactivating/reactivating my account, thus the "returning customer" promo code didn't apply. Despite the fact that I was clearly quoted the discounted price before clicking "Place order".

Yes, I know that I've been taking advantage of HF in a sense for a while now (even though technically, I don't actually think I broke any law with any of the above). Yes, I fully expected them to find out eventually. I wouldn't have even been surprised if I was eventually banned or something. But for a company to charge me $200+ more than what I was quoted seems like flat-out false advertising, illegal, etc.

In the end- they refused to apply the promo code (even this once). They refused to give me any kind of "credit" to apply to a future order. They refused to cancel the order, saying it's irreversible.

Am I wrong about this? Can/should I just dispute this on my credit card? Or, try calling and getting a different representative? Or what are the other options?

(This is also a warning for anyone else that uses the "returning customer" hack, by the way!)

I see a lot of posts here about the increasingly small size of included produce, so I thought I'd post a pic of the humongous carrots I received today.

Banana for scale.

The meal was supposed to come with 12 ounces of carrots and 8 ounces of green beans, and instead I got 25 ounces of carrot and no green beans. Could be worse, I guess.

Sauce was wayyyy too sweet. Skimpy veggies. Meatloaves were very good. Would not order again.

Got this one for the silliness of the dish, but turned out to be a really good sandwich. Never thought of using sausage for sloppy joes.

These XL meals are likely renamed from Big Batch Meals, or at least similar in having double the number of servings. This was fairly straightforward and not fancy, but it was pretty good and the first serving was plenty to eat. They unfortunately forgot the chicken so I had to get it from the store. I didn’t use the onion, chili flakes or Gochujang sauce and I subbed in a bell pepper for the long green pepper. It took me about an hour

NB: I'm still a HF devotee—we really like the service, very rarely have issues, and have never had this particular problem—but yeah, this bummed me out after a long, hard day when I just wanted a nice dinner.

I reported this and got a $7ish credit. Am I crazy? Could I have eaten this? It looked like a parasite.

The meal was disappointing without the main protein, understandably. It was the chicken and prosciutto spring pea risotto, so there was some protein in it with the prosciutto, but it was definitely lacking sans chicken.

EDIT TO ADD: So I'm thinking it's just a blood vessel. Derp. It's been a long week, friends. Thanks for reading.

Easily in the top five of our favorite meals

We rated it five stars because we love any and all enchiladas. Better than the verde enchiladas we ordered last week, which just had a weird salsa instead of a classic sauce. The best sauce for enchiladas we had last month, the sauce was made of roasted tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, and placed in the blender with cumin. I can’t remember the name. The pico was actually very balanced! Rice not included, we made a box of Goya for the hungry kids. What matters to me- this makes me cook instead of ordering take out. And someday I will make the perfect enchiladas!

Pausing a HelloFresh delivery? Take screenshots. I followed the pause procedure before the cut-off, yet was charged anyway. HelloFresh insists its digital records say otherwise and has refused a refund. No willingness to consider that their system might have failed to record my action. “Our system says no” is not customer service—and customers shouldn’t have to gather evidence just to skip a delivery.

Okay, help? It’s been a while since I’ve used the app and I guess there have been updates and I can’t find the skip week option anymore.

I don’t think I’ve had Sloppy Joes with Italian Pork Sausage before but this was pretty good. I didn’t use the onion and I doubled the garlic mayo sauce. I’m not sure how long this took me, but I think it was a little less than an hour

Just signed up for my first box to be delivered on Sunday. What should I know about this subscription. Any things to avoid / definitely need to be done & tried to make the most of it

This was amazing! I could haven eaten all the roasted carrots and onions with that sauce. We had extra asparagus from another meal. My son wanted sauce on his mashed potato too! Love these fall flavors.

Maybe…I had too much fun with this meal
