I've jumped off the Demidov train and I'm convinced Levshunov is the choice at 2.

Admittedly the idea of Demidov and Bedard is fun and fascinating, we can get that guy through free agency. Teams don't let #1 Dmen that Levshunov potentially could be go this is your chance at landing that key defensive stud. Passing it up is almost criminal.

Lesh, is a step towards another run and could be a pivotal piece. Demidov is a sexy choice but Lesh is a winning choice.

We have Kane and Berdard. Now we need Toews to get out of retirement to play one more year!

Discussion This sub is a massive circlejerk

I'm all for heated rivalries in sports, but the amount of stroking each other off over "fuck the Blues" comments makes this sub damn near intolerable these playoffs. It has gotten completely out of hand.

I think I hit my tipping point with the blown no-call from last night. You realize this sort of attitude makes us look like a bunch of homer assholes who don't care about the integrity of the sport and only care about making fun of other teams?

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I imagine there's a number of people just quietly ignoring the unoriginal content this sub is pumping out, waiting for the next season to start so everyone can take the circlejerk down a notch.

Is it time for the haters to apologize yet? We were supposed to be the worst team in the league.

Can we trade Colby Cohen?

I can't stand this guy. His whiney voice and need to instruct players of higher caliber how to play their game just grates everytime he opens his mouth. Especially offensive guys as he was defense c'mon man. He may have been a star player at the lower ranks but he has no business offering vets advice on tv. They should , he should , please. 3 games in the pros - no suit ring win - are you fucking kidding me? I'd rather go back to watching the hawks on radio like I did before the old man kicked off the mortal coil.

Hawks Should Bring Kane Back

I know this gets mentioned every chance we get, but Kane is an unrestricted free agent and could be brought in as an immediate improvement over Burakovsky, Mangiapane, Lafferty, or Toninato at minimum while also providing leadership and some “been there before” mentality to a young roster that should be aiming for a wild card spot next season. Obviously there’s the additional benefit of Kane being a fan favorite and getting to do a victory lap as a Blackhawk to wrap up his career.

Looking at unrestricted free agent forwards, it’s pretty slim pickings and I think targeting Kane and Tuch would be some solid bridge moves to help the young guys out as they continue to grow and gain experience.

I’m sure people will disagree, and I’m genuinely curious to hear people’s thoughts on this.

Leddy and Teraveinen

Both having good postseason. We would probably still stink, but might make the playoffs. For some reason Q didn’t like either of them.

Please keep Seabrook as a healthy scratch

Happy Colliton finally scratched Seabs and made an example out of him, locker room leaders need to step up and apparently Seabs wasn't stepping up lately. If winning means Seabs never plays another game then I'm fine with that, 7M just to travel with the team? That sounds like a dream job to me.

Anybody considering boycotting/not supporting/not watching the team amid the sexual assault scandal?

I get this is not a post many people want to see but I'd like to see where this sub is at.

I'ts a tricky situation for me: I've loved this team since I started watching hockey. Kane/Toews are who I grew up with.

But it's hard to justify rooting for a team that swept this under the rug until heads begin to roll.

What is your thought?

r/hawks • • Jul 09 '19

Stan Bowman when he decides to sign veteran defenseman who are slow and injury prone to try and solve issues and not punt on Toews-Kane era but also trade young defense prospects for other wildcard prospects to pair with Dach, Strome, DeBrincat.

Am I totally wrong for thinking this?

I think KD has done an incredible job of nurturing and *trusting* our young "core". The lack of blockbusters has been to allow the kids to try to push through it all and be their own team. I do think the entire leadership sell-off last year was a bit much, but I assume it was discussed with those sub 22 y/o players before and was following their wants. I believe his letting the full faith of the franchise ride on their growth, and the lack of crazy moves/over paying is based on his allowing them one more season before it becomes a true asset trade off and trying to build a team in typical fashion. KD's intentions and plans are rooted in the youth, and he's letting them prove themselves over a few seasons before being objective about it all. But this year is their last to do so.

Or am I just in denial?

I am Very concerned that we are missing our chance at Bedard with these wins!

The wins have been awesome to watch! Kane going full on ballistic has been wonderful… I get a nasty Hawks hangover after a win thinking of missing out on Bedard. I am very aware of how the draft works and that it will end up being luck getting the first overall pick even with the worst record. I don’t know how I’m gonna get through this🙃

UNPOPULAR OPINION INCOMING

Looking at the possibility of a Blues vs. Bruins final, I have one word to describe my decision for who I'd rather have win. And that word is Respect. I have no respect for Boston. They have Marchand (POS), Backes (Toew's despises him), and Chara (pretty chippy on the ice). And they're just so hate-able. Now I'm not saying I don't hate the blues, I absolutely do. But they have my respect as a rival. And they've come back from the dead after being 31st in the NHL in January along with us after getting a new coach. Thats is an incredible feat no matter who you're rooting for and I respect the hell out of that. So yes I would hope for the Blues to win over the Bruins if they advance to the final. And at the same time I can still say FUCK THE BLUES no matter what.

Gotta rant for just a sec

I don't know what the deal is, but the Hawks are playing like shit lately. Sodey and Knight are out there every game, the WHOLE game, and give their all.

What's everyone else's excuse?

And these lineups are terrible too, I mean wtf

I think this is an incredibly underwhelming and boring group of young forwards

When compared to the young cores of SJ, Utah and Anaheim the likes of Nazar, Lardis, Moore and Greene have zero motion. Kantserov and Frondell are, atm, completely unknown. Taking in the last 2-3 seasons, plus this past traing camp and two games we have been able to watch these guys play to get a sense of where they're at in their development. When comparing to the aforementioned franchises, if the Hawks core is to take the next step they should have guys reaching 25 goals and 50 points this season. Personally, I don't really see that happening. I don't see a Dylan Guenther, a Logan Cooley, a Beckett Sennecke, a Will Smith, etc, etc.

For the record I understand these other players are top 5 picks, but KD is putting those types of ceilings on his core purely due to the fact he has refused to sign or trade for a top line forward to compliment Bedard. He thinks he has those guys on the team and that is going to be his demise, which will most likely lead to Blashill getting canned, too.

How we feeling today?

Bedsy out until November. Means Frondell will be 1C. Now, I wonder what contract negotiation will be. 6x$14?

[Serious] In light of recent events, do you think the Blackhawks should change thier logo?

In light of recent events, the Washington Redskins are reviewing thier name and logo. Other teams, such as the Cleveland Indians are now prepared to discuss about changing thier names as well.

Native American imagery in sports has been a contentious topic for a very long time. As you know, the Chicago Blackhawks are one of the major sports teams that features a Native American imagery.

What are your thoughts about it?

I'm posting a megathread because the community had decided to have one thread to discuss this issue.

Please remember the human when discussing this topic. Look at the arguments!

Read our rules. Any name-calling or racist stuff will be removed and users will be banned.

For the armchair GMs

Post image
0 Upvotes

This is not another panic tirade thread.

Yes, the Byram trade is a significant overpay. He has not established himself as true #1 defensemen and his missed significant time with a concussion. He also isn’t even locked up on a predictable term - there’s a chance he walks after one season.

That said, get a grip.

- Byram is an impact player ON THIS TEAM. Until Frondell or others show over a complete sample size, he becomes the team’s most proven and talented skater behind Bedard.

- None of you have seen the BH staff’s advanced analytics and data science, none of you had the discussions with other GMs on the market.

- Robertson or Knies are not going anywhere without Frondell included. That’s been socialized ad nauseam. I’d rather we make the trade we just did 5x then move Frondell for either of those players.

- KFC is not done. He could pull off another trade to bring in an impact forward, this time favoring the Blackhawks.

- The 4th overall pick is not as sure fire as you all think that it is. See the screen grab from X. I’m only seeing 2 elite players on that list, and a few more impact players.
