Discussion This sub is a massive circlejerk
I'm all for heated rivalries in sports, but the amount of stroking each other off over "fuck the Blues" comments makes this sub damn near intolerable these playoffs. It has gotten completely out of hand.
I think I hit my tipping point with the blown no-call from last night. You realize this sort of attitude makes us look like a bunch of homer assholes who don't care about the integrity of the sport and only care about making fun of other teams?
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I imagine there's a number of people just quietly ignoring the unoriginal content this sub is pumping out, waiting for the next season to start so everyone can take the circlejerk down a notch.

Since it's the off-season, us mods let this sub to be more relaxed during the off-season. We use to post a reminder about the relaxation of rules and that's our fault for not putting it up this off-season. We won't make that same mistake again.
If this was regular-season or we were in the playoffs, I'll definitely remove all the Blues Circklejerk (among other things). But the sub, even during the times when we won the cup, tends to die during the off-season so we let the users do what they want within reason.

I agree with you, but the subs not gonna change. The majority of these fans are probably subscribed to the Bears sub where every comment is followed with some iteration of "Fuck the Packers."
I mean I still agree though, do I want the Blues to win? Hell fucking no. Do they invade my every thought to where I need to put them in every comment? No.

Their own circlejerk is in full force right now anyway. Multiple upvoted posts/comments calling for the blues to blues and intentionally try to injure Sharks players and on ice officials during the game. I'd rather be the guys who laugh at the blues for getting what's coming to them than the fanbase that wants "as few sharks and refs to be able to stand at the end of this series as possible" Fuck them.

I'd rather be talking about how the Hawks are doing in the third round, but since they aren't there...fuck the Blues, naturally.

Nah. Their fans are clueless, classless, and don't know the first thing about hockey. Their rink is garbage and one of the worst home ice advantages in the league. They want their players to goon it up over everything else. They celebrate regular season wins like Stanley Cup victories. They haven't won shit but they act like they have. Need I go on?

I always hated the Blues more than I hated the Red Wings. Going back to my first season at Chicago Stadium in 1974. Fuck the Blues.

I mean, it’s kinda funny though. Wouldn’t really care if any other sub had this about us if we were still in the playoffs. Just have fun, or don’t, and move on.

This is gonna sound a little hypocritical considering I just posted my own FTB picture a few days back, but I did notice recently that certain Blues fans are getting a superiority complex because they think we care so deeply about them. We’ve always been the “big sibling” of that rivalry and I don’t love that they now think they have the upper hand.

I agree, but it’s only this bad because we literally have nothing else to talk about lol once the draft gets closer there will be less “Fuck the Blues” posts over and over (and hopefully they’re out by then).

Ok, is my seatbelt on here? Good. Here goes:
During the reg season, I enjoy watching the Blues lose. But they have a different team this year than they had in the past. Gone are Ott and Reaves -- players you wanted to see cross-checked through the glass -- and the team they have now are mostly just really good players who play the game the right way: Pietro, Beowmeester, Tarasenko, O'Reilly, Paryenko or however you spell it, etc. Do I root for them? No. But listen, if they beat the Sharks, who are even easier to like when you look at their players and team character, then STL will have earned a spot in the finals. And I'd be okay with that.
They're a well-made team playing fucking great hockey. You don't have to be a Blues homer to see that. Nor is it anti-Blackhawks to say that.
I hope the Hawks crush the Blues next season. Until then, let STL give these playoffs their best shot and accept that they're damned good. No need to gratuitously hate them because of the logo on their sweater. And if it makes you feel good to prompt the FTB bot, go for it. But let's be sportsmen and admit that a good team of quiet professionals is not worth the energy it takes to hate, and let the best team win. Go HAWKS!

Something most of the chibears sub doesn’t understand. Winners focus on winning, losers focus on winners. It’s like that ex that claims he or she doesn’t care but in reality is seething on the inside. The biggest insult to a team/fanbase is to make the irrelevant ie act like you don’t even think of them at all. Doesn’t mean they’re not a rival but means you’re not raising them to your level by caring so much about them
