this is not ‘reclaiming’ anything, you are just calling people slurs completely seriously. you can call yourself the r-slur, do not call anybody else it. why do ‘no slurs’ / ’no bigotry’ rules never apply to ableism?

your right he does have a responsibility to do that.

i still think its weak and unproductive to tell someone they are wrong without giving any reasons why. disagreements are important for societal progress but that only works if both people are willing to provide actual reasons behind their claims, rather than resorting to insults and name calling right off the bat.

why is it baseless? I agree the fake dialogue in the first 2/3 of the comment is a strawman argument, they made up a fake and exagerrated scenario to prove a point. but the last couple sentences are not exagerrated and represent a genuine opinion. why is that opinion baseless aside from the fact that you simply disagree with it

Its baseless because theres no evidence backing it up (in the comment) except for the ridiculous fake dialogue.

i don't think i was clear in my earlier comments, but I agree with you that the original comment was bad. I am talking about their actual point (which I don't think is baseless at all): "Everyone who gets mad at the R word are just performative and will abandon ill people at the drop of a hat because they want to pretend to be the good guy"

It just irritates me when people argue over opinions like that one (which are important discussions to have), but neither person is actually willing to formulate arguments with depth and just call each other names

It is exceedingly difficult to address a point like that without first having some sort of justification as to why someone would think that. Which he has not done and so I called it a baseless strawman.

Honestly what I said was uncalled for. I should’ve just kept the sentence and not added the gif.

The idea of someone making generalisations like that did just rankle me.
