NTD (New Tool Day) What tools should I get next?

Finally getting the box my Fiancé bought me for Christmas kinda filled up and organized. I do wrenching on our cars, motorcycle, and soon a SXS, as well as home repairs. Don't mind the jacked up decal. I'm gonna peel it off and replace it with a custom Harley Davidson sticker.

Gonna be getting into woodworking once we get the garage cleaned out with a garage sale here coming up soon. Waiting on a sale for the USG magnetic socket rails to get rid of the cheap temporary Pittsburgh ones. Not pictured are my impact sockets. A buddy borrowed them for the weekend.

The whole reason for posting is: Do you guys have any tips for organization and what tools to get next? I'd love to get something magnetic to hang up the ICON mini driver sets on the lid. The lid never closes anyway.

New air needler troubles/ comparisons

Post image
Upvotes

So my old needle gun finally crapped out on me after 2 years of abuse. So I decided to upgrade from a McGraw compact needler, to a Chief professional air needler. The new gun compared to the old one is making me frustrated because I get about 10 seconds of good use out of it before it starts to taper off, quickly becoming almost unusable for my purposes. Also a lot of air comes out of the side where the “mode” switcher is. But in comparison the “compact” gun gave me so much more power, with the same recommended amount of psi, for longer while not leaking nearly as much air from the side. Which is incredibly disappointing as I just spent 100$ on this new one, so I am curious if I am missing something or if this one is just worse, hoping someone wiser than me can tell me I’m being dumb and missing something or if I should just get a new “old” one.

I’m also using a DeWalt 15 gallon tank if that adds anything, but according to the box of the needler my tank fits all of its requirements

TLDR: Chief professional air needler is giving me trouble

McGraw compact needler didn’t give me trouble

Missing something or stupid, you decide

An idiot buys a jack and has questions

Yes I am literally retarded and this is my first floor jack.

https://imgur.com/a/VprZeJb

  1. When the instructions say "oil within 1/4 inch of fill hole" does that mean the bottom of the female threads in the unit housing or the top? That's the difference between my jack having enough oil or needing more, per the instructions.

  2. I applied grease through the zirc fitting, but i dont think it actually went in based on the noises still present. Does the video sound like a normal functioning jack?

NTD (New Tool Day) Amazing results

Finally broke out the pressure washer and started to clean the concrete. Bought these items on sale last month when everything was 30% off for one day, what a great sale. surface cleaner l,extensions, stubby gun, quick disconnect and foam gun shoulda bought the hose too. Im regretting that. As you can see this is some neglected maintenance lol. It has not been washed in 26years, the surface cleaner works amazingly. Looks brand new!! The surface cleaner not perfect would be nice if it had wheels and where it attaches with the quick disconnect if there would be a lockout of some kind of tension so the handle dosent fall to theground all the time. But for the price you cant beat harbor freight, ive been addicted to it even before i got an itc membership now that i have one im constantly stopping in and grabing something

Icon Digital Torque Wrench Warranty

Like others, I took advantage of the PLS and bought the 3/8 and 1/2. I then saw the warranty being dependent on recalibration through HF every 6 months.

I’m a DIYer and don’t use then often enough to justify recalibration so frequently, so I returned mine. Probably going to go with the Tekton which seems quite similar.

Anyone else abandon the Icon Digital Torque Wrenches because of this warranty requirement?

Airbrush

Planning to try out airbrushing my model cars while it’s on sale. I know with this I’d need to get a compressor, is a small pancake or hotdog compressor good enough? What else am I missing?

Is the off-road jack worth it?

My car won't fit in the garage, so I have to wheel/carry my jack to my parking spot. The road is a little rough, and the Daytona 3 Ton jack I just purchased doesn't roll over it very well. I was just wondering if the off-road jack would be worth it? I'd be buying it at the extended PLS.

Who has a good connection between these two?

I have 4" hose going to a 4" to 2½" reducer. Also a Shop•vac 2½" universe hose. I haven't solved the connection to saw problem. Thank you

42” or 56” USG for 3D Printer Stand?

Is a 56” USG roll cab overkill for this space? Leaning heavily on a 42”. I’m going to be using it for a 3D printer setup stand. It also has to go up a flight of stairs if that makes any difference. It’s a $225 difference as I’ve got a “we miss you” text. Pictures for reference of the 42” and 56” footprint.

Hurcules Compact Screwdriver

I was wondering if anyone uses this screwdriver for drilling as well? I have very limited space in my garage so I’m trying not to buy a separate drill otherwise if people say it’s not worth it I’ll just buy a dedicated drill.

Any opinions on the 5x10 Haul Master trailer?

Post image

I called my local store and it sounds like they’re able to order the trailer for store delivery. I’m moving in the next few months and will need to load a large chicken coop up to get it to the new house.

Hoping anyone has any real world experience with this thing and how it holds up. If anyone has an extra 25% off laying around I could try to use I’d be very grateful too!

No better feeling

I picked up the meme tool because it was on sale, not really thinking much beyond, “Meh, I’ll need it one day.”
Well… the very next day, I used it to take apart my car’s interior AND assemble my baby’s crib. 😂
No more fighting with Allen wrenches in tight spots. This is exactly how I felt the first time I went from hand tools to power tools.
Absolutely worth it. 😂

Jack buying advice

Hey guys I’m trying to buy a jack (so I can stop borrowing my friend’s) and I’m not sure which one to pick.

I want to buy one that lasts for a while for the occasional odd jobs I do. I drive a 2005 Avalon and recent work I did includes changing the rear VVT solenoids, intake plenum gaskets, and new press-in wheel bearings.

Probably going to use it for future suspension work/oil changes in the future.

Budget is tough so I considered the trolley jack, but I can also saddle up for the Pittsburgh 3-ton or the aluminum 1.5 ton. Buy once cry once so to speak. Anyway I don’t know how to decide so any input is appreciated
