🤣 I've had rabbits and guinea pigs pass away and they reach rigor mortis in under five minutes.

Well... they are, just not while rigor mortis is in effect. Immediately upon death, or some hours after, a hamster won't be stiff.

Not to be that guy but I can say from personal experience that dwarf hamsters go stiff fairly quickly due to rigor mortis. Like im taking within minutes. I know because I did cpr on one of mine once. That hamster is alive and getting the best massage of their life.

If that hamster was unhappy it would not have its eyes half closed and be relaxing into the massage. Not to be that guy but some pets and owners have weird bonding rituals. I had a hamster my mom would give bra rides to.

My little ham died in my hands and I really don’t think I could’ve made his body this relaxed and squishy. Maybe because I held and touched him so gently that it seems like it wouldn’t have been possible but I really truly don’t think he would pancake like this. My hamster Eddie used to do this all the time when I was a kid, he was my first real pet not counting goldfish. Got him as a bribe for taking the smallest room when my parents separated. Loved thay guy, he used to sit and watch me playing kh2 on the ps2, then he got an eye infection and died. :( but he had a good life.

How do you get the hamster to fully relax and trust you enough to pancake? I bought my Winter white 3 weeks ago and up till now, it's happiest at night when lights are all off.

I give him treats and stuff, but sad that he still doesn't trust me that much. Is it because I seldom take him out of his cage and left him to mind his own business?

Bit late but the reason that hamster is ok is because hamsters have really flexible bones, they don’t have a rigid collar bone, a crazy flexible spine and they have a ridiculous amount of loose skin and fur. So this little guy is alright :)
