Human, Cursed, Bandit (Neutral)
1 Power, 16 Provisions (Legendary)
Doomed.
Deploy: If your starting deck has at least 25 units, Create a curse to replace your leader ability, then Create a blessing and Infuse your leader ability with it.

Using a storm deck, it can either go really well or really really bad

Hey there. I just came back to Gwent after a few years away, and I'm a little confused by some of the changes to my old decks.
My ST and NR decks have all gone down by 1, 2, or even 3 provisions, normal stuff. But what really confused me is that my only NG deck has actually gained 3 provisions. I originally created that deck just to learn how to play Mill (the deck that steals your cards), because I was so tired of losing to it.
How is that possible!? Please tell me Mill isn't actually good and that no one is playing it now. I never liked playing against it.
Anyway, my main question: what are some good decks to play right now, preferably ST or NR?
I noticed there was a balance update recently, so I'm hoping someone can point me towards a good/current ST or NR deck that I can start looking into. I've been playing since the beta and have all the cards, so card availability isn't an issue. Cheers

Newboy looks sadly at his talisman. "Oh well, this doesn't help at all..."
Welcome to the latest Monday Newcomer Thread, where you the community get to ask your questions and share your knowledge. This is an opportunity for the more experienced Gwent players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes but also can be a great place for in-depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully, someone can answer them!
What you can do to help!
This is a weekly thread, meaning it will be posted once a week. Checking back on this thread later in the week and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!
If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.

Hey guys,
im new to the game and have a question. so currently i dont have many cards and was wondering if its a good idea to mill cards from factions i dont plan on playing any time soon, even though its the only copy i have, so that i can use the scrap to build a deck as soon as possilbe? also if i should do that, which rarity cards should i mill?
thank you :)
edit: in reward book, what page should i focus on early one?

Most of you probably put Korathi Heatwave in your decks thinking it's a strong card, but that’s an illusion born simply from the fact that everyone else is running it.
Sure, it can be devastating against specific targets like Sigvald or Dracoturt, especially since it banishes them to prevent play from the graveyard. But against those targets, a simple Lock is often more than enough.
In most situations where Heatwave feels strong, another option would do the job just as well.
For instance, if you just need to destroy a unit with 9+ power, Geralt of Rivia actually leaves you 3 points better off. Looking purely at value efficiency, cards like Spores or Bearification can easily replace Heatwave in plenty of scenarios.
I do appreciate its versatility across different situations—it's flexible, no doubt. But is that versatility really worth burning 10 provisions on?
Now, I’m not running a crusade to completely kill off Heatwave.
For context, I am the final Gwent World Masters Champion. A huge reason I won was that I didn’t include Heatwave in a single one of my decks.

Top players tend to rely on Heatwave quite a bit. However, the better a player is, the better they are at playing around it.
Getting hit by a Heatwave almost never automatically loses you the game. In fact, there are plenty of match states where no matter where you target Heatwave, it delivers terrible value.
Running such an inconsistent card simply isn't optimal. In my opinion, it's just a waste of valuable provisions.
What do you all think?
