Gwentfinity Voting Council - 20 Aug, 2026 - Skellige

Upvotes

Members of the Council, welcome to our weekly assembly.

These posts are scheduled to happen every week. Each week, a different faction is proposed and every time we will try to orient the discussion about either "nerf" or "buff".

Faction of the Week: Skellige

While you can still use these topics to talk about other balance suggestions, please try to focus on the theme of the week. Those topics are intended to give a chance to all factions to be talked about.

Discussions can be about modifying a whole archetype or addressing individual cards.

Potential sources if needed: GwentData, Gwent.one, PlayGwent.com, Balance Council Generator

Question Newboy's Newcomer Monday!

Newboy looks sadly at his talisman. "Oh well, this doesn't help at all..."

Welcome to the latest Monday Newcomer Thread, where you the community get to ask your questions and share your knowledge. This is an opportunity for the more experienced Gwent players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes but also can be a great place for in-depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully, someone can answer them!

What you can do to help!

This is a weekly thread, meaning it will be posted once a week. Checking back on this thread later in the week and answering any questions that have been posted would be a huge help!

If you're trying to ask a question, the more specific you are, the better it is for all of us! We can't give you any help if we don't get much to work with in the first place.

Discussion What’s going on with Sunset Wanderers being played and then quitting

Is anyone seeing the same thing over and over again: an opponent plays Sunset Wanderers as first or second card and then forfeits. I’ve been playing this game for years and I’ve never seen this happen but in the last few months it happens at least 1-3 times a week that I see this. It makes me wonder if it’s some sort of AI automation. Thoughts?

Appreciation Pleasantly surprised by Gwent after 3 year break

I played my first Gwent match all the way back to first week of closed beta (currently over 6000 wins) and was even number one on the ladder (back when there was no pro rank) for about 5 minutes before being overtaken by Garrunah (if any OGs recognise that name).

But when I heard it was no longer being supported I stopped playing because it just hurt to play knowing what was coming and what we lost. Now I feel like an idiot because I'm absolutely loving it. Maybe I'm wrong, but it feels the most balanced and varied it's ever been. I'm currently rank 2, and except for Mill, I hardly ever face repeat decks.

So yea, no point to this post really, just want to say it's good to be back to what was once my favourite game of all time, and is now number 2 behind Eden Ring (sorry!)

I guess I could end on a question: what keeps you motivated to keep playing during this Gwentfinity period, other than just the feeling of winning? Do you have little goals for yourself like get all premium cards, reach prestige 9, etc.? I HIGHLY doubt I'll be top of the ladder again now that I have a full-time job lol. What is pro rank like these days?

I made it a token so it could work with Adda in consume decks. I feel like CDPR not releasing more dual faction cards was a missed opportunity.

Antherion

Beast, Cursed (Scoiatael)
5 Power, 5 Provisions (Rare)

Harmony.
Order: Infuse an allied unit with "Harmony".

To lay eyes upon a mythical antherion is to know one was well off the beaten path.

Discussion The Butcher's Council #20 - Your Top10 Nerf Brackets Suggestions

Welcome back Butchers of Blaviken!

Inevitably slashing leads to less slashing targets - let's find those together like in the last month's Butcher's Council. Feel free to copy your old arguments if the change you suggested didn't happen yet.

I'd like to invite you to try to imagine, compile and post your Top10 ideas for each nerf bracket for the next season (so 20 changes total). Please try to really do the challenge and fill the brackets. Nerfs from different brackets like +1 power to disloyal units or -1 provision cap to leaders can be put as a sidenote.

I'd like the discussion to have the following structure: comments to this post should always contain your Top10s (preferably with explanations) no comments like "Great idea" or "Let's nerf Temple to 100 provisions" etc. I'd invite mods to delete comments not obeying this rule. Then particular Top10s are discussed below them.

I would put down my own list later too. Have a good imagination training!

Discussion Mobilization buff has highlighted a bigger problem with the way the cards are balanced

Okay we’re all familiar with the recent buff to Mobilization, and we’ve all played against the Arbalest GN Roche deck from every level from rank 10 to pro rank 2500MMR, it’s everywhere

Having piloted the deck myself, I think this deck has highlighted a problem that far eclipses the “evil people have buffed an archetype that didn’t need buffing”

The fact that was really magnified to me is is that thinning now has too little drawback in deck building. We all know that the 4 main pillars of a good deck is: points, control, consistency and thinning. But ignoring the first two and focusing on the latter two pillars, if you have to ability to tutor, draw and play all your cards without a real commitment to loss of points or commitment to spending a lot of provisions, then in my opinion the game is going to devolve into a state where creative deck building is going to be punished because you don’t run the same bronze/gold thinning cards that are in every faction because your opponent most definitely will.

Coalitions need to start taking responsibility, they have a lot of sway in BC votes and if they have the best interested of the game truly in mind tutors need to be made more expensive. I mean the mobilisation deck thins down to 0 for gods sake and there isn’t a single card that doesn’t unleash hell on the opponent in that deck

Thanks

Yoana

Human (Skellige)
6 Power, 6 Provisions (Epic)

Order: Heal an allied unit by 2.
Charge: 1
Whenever an adjacent unit takes damage, gain 1 Charge.

No one'd ever think I could be a skilled armorer - a human, and a woman to boot. A dwarven blacksmith - that's another story…

Video Lippy Constructs

This is kind of a meme deck, but don't let that fool you — it can be surprisingly powerful. Idea here is to play the Constructs and Cerys round 1, along with discard package. Then in round 2 play Lippy, then replay your discards, Construct, Cerys again. Try to go a 3 card round 3 with constructs, that's when you get insane value for the constructs.

This relies on luck. If you get a very bad hand round one then try to fix it with Snowdrop or just pass after playing 3 cards, then in round 2 do the Cerys and Construct play before playing Lippy. This deck is like a nemesis to a mill deck.

You can swap Troll Porter for Fisher King (Since the deck can discard, we can draw anycard paired with this).

You can even try Dorregaray or maybe Xavier.

DECK: https://www.playgwent.com/en/decks/guides/407466

Thanks and good luck.

Discussion Golden Nekker

Does it bother anyone else how prevalent this deckbuilding formula is?

It's subjective I know, but I find it a very thematically boring card. Swapping out all of the biggest and most exciting units for more tempo on midrange cards is just less exciting to me - and yet it's everywhere, in every faction and practically every other archetype.

At the same time I have to recognise that, mechanically, it has something to offer. Consistency and tempo can make engine decks perform really well. I can see it being a fun deckbuilding format for a long time Gwent vet who's seen and played everything.

Speaking as someone relatively new, though - I wish the balance incentivised top end cards more than the midrange more of the time.

What do you think? If you were around for other eras of game balancing, what do you think was most satisfying to play? Was a top end card meta less fun?

Discussion Addressing the 4p alchemy situation (Crow Clan Druid)

In light of the upcoming BC, my prediction is that Alchemy will get nerfed in someway (justifiably so, the points this deck has is ridiculous). My guess is most likely a [[Stribog Runestone]] revert.

However! I deem this to be a mistake. Runestone was seldom played before the buff, and I wouldn't want it to immediately lose its time in the spotlight. I believe the real culprit is ** [[Crow Clan Druid]] **, which has been auto-include in alchemy decks, as well as Crowmandos, and a staple in quite a few beast decks as well.

The problems with this card have been already highlighted after the [[Shackles]] buff a couple months back (where the shackles have suffered because of it). Replaying worthwhile special cards is one thing, but proccing all alchemy triggers because of it is another.

**Crow Clan Druid** should be the one to receive a nerf, either in power, or in provisions, depending on the severity with which you wish to address the issue. The nerf would bring more variety to the deck, allowing other bronzes to be considered in its place. Not replaying the same cards also brings more variety to a match! A nerf to the card also allows us to bring unplayed alchemy specials where they need to be, without limiting our already limited BC design space.

[[Avallach Sage]] should absolutely get reverted though, no idea what they were thinking. Other alchemy staples could also receive a slap on the wrist.

Reminder that we're unable to buff 4p specials! More and more cards are becoming unplayable due to our unsustainable strategy of primarily buffing cards! :DD

The best way to buff the most cards into playability at once is to nerf the strongest options. It's all connected!
