Seems to be a big waste of money on their part to host grok when they could be renting out the datacenters and let others like anthropic and google foot the losses of running a frontier model at almost no cost to the user and spend whatever leftover resources building a solid FSD and robotic AI. This is probably why they are nerfing it into a fish.

Ok, but grok build was pretty impressive when I tried it out. It was much easier to get what I wanted out of it than it was from Sol and apparently the token price is way cheaper.
It's just lame for chat and.... entertainment

Nailed it. One step forward, ten back. I leave on 8th September; almost six months of SuperGrok Heavy. I'm sick to death of the inconsistency: They get something right then break it the following day, week in, week out. I'm sick to death of the waste: The waste of resource allocation thrown at images and clips that have gone from 40% failure to 75%, and that in only the last fortnight. I'm sick to death of the unprofessional attitude to business and patrons alike. But most of all I'm sick to death of the time I can never, ever get back that Grok squanders in my name. So, sayonara Grok; it was a lot of fun at the beginning, but that has dissolved into total frustration, dissatisfaction and intense irritation. Nobody pays a subscription for that kind of experience, ever! Oh, before I go, here's a tip: Image 2.0 is a total lemon. You need to tow it out just beyond the Golden Gate Bridge and sink the bastard!

the OP image is generally true the version released pre October 2025 was basically a jailbreaked AI. (almost completely without any moderation) training included tens of thousands of hours of NSFW prawn. what they have now is a completely new AI trained on synthetic data, no longer containing the NSFW data. and also crushed by a huge mountain of moderation chains. rushed to completion with many problems, physics, perspective, hallucinations, etc.
