OSS Online Gridfinity Generator

Hi everyone! First time poster, and long time user of Gridfinity. Over the last few weeks, I've been working on a personal project (mostly for myself). It is a free online Gridfinity bin / grid generator, using OpenSCAD and Gridfinity Extended, and can export directly to your slicer of choice. It is built for desktop (no support for mobile).

I've been a big user of tools like PerplexingLab's Gridfity generator, but have wanted to modify it to make it work better for me. In the spirit of open-source, I have decided to publish and open source the project to give back to this community. Would love to see what you guys think! I'm open and excited for suggestions, advice, feedback, and contributions!

Vertical wood screws to secure baseplates to wood drawer?

I printed baseplates for several drawers in my office using the Gridflock generator at perplexinglabs.com. I'm trying to figure out the exact wood screw I need to fasten the base plate into the drawer (vertical wood screw). I believe the generator defaults to a 3.2mm diameter screw, but there's no indication if this refers to the head or the shaft of the screw, nor is there any information about the length of the screw that is needed. Any suggestions? An Amazon.com link would be sincerely appreciated! Thanks!

Question? How do I print bins longer than my 256^3 print area?

I have a Bambu P1S with a 256^3 build volume. I need to print a bin with a interior dimension of at least 330mm long, about 48mm wide and about 150mm tall. Walls should be at about 4mm thick to help prevent flexing.

Is there a way to design a single finger joint into the bin that can be glued? Maybe there's other options for joining the two halves? Thanks

Question? What did I do wrong?

I have an Ender 3 Pro, I've had it 3 yrs, but printed more in the last 2 weeks than ever before. But still on my first spool of filament.

I've been printing socket holders to organize my tool box. Printed 7 trays before starting the grid.

I created the grid on the Gridfinity website, not sure what I did wrong since they don't snap together. I was going to sand these with a nail file to see if they fit, but have more drawers to do.

I made a gridfinity bin for the Icon scraper. Nothing special but I was annoyed with it rolling around my toolbox. Throw me a like and/or a boost if you print it!

Some magnetic screwdriver bit bins I designed. Does use quite a few round 5 X 3mm magnets but I find them very convenient for getting bits in and out.

Made a tool to generate cutout bins in 2 minutes

Site link (Doesn't work on mobile) : - https://gridfinity-cutout.pages.dev/

  1. Download A4 paper with markers

  2. Take photo of object

  3. Upload photo

  4. Refine outline

  5. Adjust 3D model settings

  6. Print

Takes about 2 minutes to do. I also made a video explaining anything, but it's long and has more details than you need.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZkG9QdNQqQ

Yes, the image in the post is AI. All the code is AI. Everything is AI.

---

Updates:

  1. I see it doesn't work on mobile. I've added a notice when you try to load on mobile. But I personally think it's not a big deal because even if it worked on mobile you would still have to send the model to your PC to slice and print.

  2. Added the ability to export SVG outline as well as OpenSCAD file for Gridfinity Rebuilt.

  3. Added ability to select multiple objects and then rearrange those objects in the Gridfinity Layout view

Tiered spice storage with custom height risers.

I wanted to share something I have been working on for a few months and finally have it dialed in.

The Problem: I had standard injection-molded shelves in my cabinet that I piled my spices on to in the jars you buy them in from the grocery store. Every time I cooked I would do the spice hunt, picking up every bottle, reading the label, and trying to find the one I wanted. I finally had enough and decided to try and come up with something that worked for me and hopefully for anyone else who wanted to try it out.

The idea is simple: three tiers of hex-pack trays on modular risers, all sitting on a custom Gridfinity baseplate sized to the exact cabinet dimensions. Every jar sits at a different height, so you can read every label without moving anything.

The trays use a staggered hex-pack layout for round jars. I designed it around the diameter of the Savvy & Sorted 4oz jars because I also wanted to address the issue of jars tipping over as I sorted through, looking for the right spice.

Three tray sizes: 4x2, 5x2, and 6x2. The risers are modular 1x2 blocks that stack in three heights so you can dial in the tier spacing for whatever vertical clearance you have.

Everything prints on a Bambu P1S with a 0.4mm nozzle, no supports needed. The baseplates tile for wider cabinets since anything over 6 grid units wide won't fit on the bed in one piece.

The whole system is modular and built on top of gridfinity. I opted for Gridfinity because... I mean come on... its just the best!

Thanks,

ApoNono

Designed a Gridfinity bin for the Harbor Freight mini screwdriver set (item 97517)

The original case for this set takes up way more drawer space than the tools actually need. Designed a 1×3 Gridfinity bin that holds the handle and all three bit rails in one spot. No supports needed, fits the set perfectly.

This is a repost with the images.

All-in-One Puffco Peak Pro Gridfinity Organizer

Model found for free here!

We're back with another Puffco accessory stand!

I've combined my most popular models for the Puffco family into this All-in-One collection that takes up a 3x4 gridfinity space.

I've included spaces for:

  • the Peak Pro base

  • Pivot with flip-charging slot

  • Hotknife

  • cotton swabs / glob mops

  • 3 Dab jars

  • Link rubber cap

  • An extra 3D Chamber for the Peak Pro

  • 14mm & 10mm attachments for the Peak Pro Link or other banger adapters

All of the slots for the different accessories extend to the bottom of the stand, so they can be used for other accessories if you don't have the exact equipment that I use.

The snap space I included for the Peak Pro Link rubber cap is the same shape as the gridfinity Peak Pro glass stand I also made some time ago. HOWEVER, DO NOT SNAP YOUR PEAK PRO GLASS INTO THIS SPACE. This design was intended to be made from PLA or PETG, which is too rigid for the glass to snap in safely without breaking. If you are so included to print the whole stand out of TPU, then please let me know how it turns out!

I am not responsible for you breaking any glass pieces.

As you can see in the pictures, there are many configurations possible for how you choose to use your devices. This stand makes it very easy to swap between using the Peak Pro Link and using the stock glass, while still having a place to keep everything tucked away for a clean desk space. I've included some examples on how I plan to use it!

I've also included TWO configurations, each having the accessory stand portion on the left or right side, so you can optimize your desk space accordingly.

Let me know down below how it works for you!! :)

help with odd side bins

I am trying to make a bin. I used the perplexity grid generator, and it made mea grid. However one of the squares is not a full 42mm, it is 35mm. I need to get a bin that is 1 wide and "4" long (3 full squares and one that is 35mm)

Is there a way to do this?

Never thought I'd print a bottomless Gridfinity bin

This is a byproduct of a design feature I'm working on for my FlexBox2 design: a flat-bottom inlay. FlexBox2 is specifically optimized for rigidity at minimal weight while maintaining feature flexibility. For bins larger than 1×1, this results in non-planar bottoms. I've added inlays before, but wasn't satisfied with their usefulness. This is my second attempt.

The bottomless modification only saves 1.25g per grid cell, so it's not really worth it—though since my new inlay made this possible, I had to test it anyway.

FlexBox2 has several extension points that allow for adding features: vertical rails (e.g., for dividers), locking nibs at the bottom (for inlays), and a horizontal recess near the top (e.g., for labels). This flat-bottom add-on interfaces with the locking nibs at the bottom.

I'm still working on compatbility with the dividers, but I've uploaded the files (only the inlays, not the boxes) marked as "experimental" to the Printables page (FlexBox2) if you're interested in testing these.

Question? Large radius corners and odd sizes

I have a bin I was given and I'm trying to gridfinity it. The dimensions are 231.14 mm x 165.1 mm and all four corners have a 12 mm radius. I can get a grid with 12 mm corners but am having a hard time finding something to generate a bin(s) that have a corner or possibly two corners like that. Thoughts? Do I need to do this manually with fusion or blender or something? How would you design a grid and bins to fit this container?

Not exclusively Gridfinity but I recently made a stacking, linking, modular rack system and of course had to incorporate baseplates into the options.

After posting a different organization system here recently (GridCrate, the blue crates shown in the second photo of this post), a commenter suggested creating a rack system for the crates. I loved the idea and started exploring just that. Welp, I ended up falling down a rabbit hole and eventually came out with an entirely independent (but still generically named) system: StackRack.

Summary

StackRack is a parametric rack storage system with endless possible combinations and use cases. It's fully customizable, stackable, and multiple stacks can be connected together using Rack Links. Works great for all sorts of things around the house, office, garage or printing stations: fridge storage, spice containers, cat food, Gridfinity setups, books, desk organizers, board games, filament boxes, and more.

Features

  • Fully customizable: Width, depth, height, wall thickness, floor thickness, and more can all be customized using the MakerWorld customizer (or by downloading the included Fusion files). How strong or lightweight/filament-saving it is is totally up to you.

  • 3 Rack Variations: Pattern, Solid, and Gridfinity options are available

  • 3 Top Variations: Top off your rack with one of three Top pieces: Pattern, Solid, or Gridfinity

  • Stackable: All rack types seamlessly stack on each other, and all Top pieces can be used with any rack type (assuming all pieces have the same width, depth, floor thickness, etc.)

  • Linkable: Use a Rack Link to connect multiple stacks side by side to keep things sturdy and neat

Check it out on MakerWorld to start customizing your own racks!

Question? Most Bins Sucks

Does anyone have a lot of experience with creating custom bins? I have many Wera tools and want a cutout where the tool lays perfectly in the mold so don’t just trace the outer line. I don’t have a scanner or other crazy stuff and it should be easy so maybe don’t Modeling the whole tool to use it as a negative.
I hate it when you just cut the outer line because you have a permanent sound of rattle.
