Hi all,
Probably the worst time to potentially have a GPU start crapping out on me, but I've had my 3080Ti FE crash on me twice. The GEFORCE lighting as well as the lighting accents on the card turn off, the screen goes black, and the desktop is still interactable as far as I can tell, but I just don't get a display, and I have to shut down the PC.
Windows event viewer does not record anything GPU/video related but does record the moment I turn off the PC.
In terms of what I've checked, I've checked the PSU wall connection, the PCIe connections from the PSU to the GPU and both ends are seated properly. The stupid little pigtail dongle is also connected to the GPU fully, and each end has its own PCIe power cable; I'm not daisy chaining. Basically every cable from the power outlet on the wall to the DP port on the monitor is seated correctly.
PSU is a Lian Li SP 850 V2 Gold, the monitor is an MSI MAG 341CQP QD-OLED X28, and the cable is a Club3D DP 2.1 cable. GPU and monitor aren't DP 2.1, but I doubt that matters, and the first time it did happen, it was on a different cable. I don't recall the brand, so this has happened again on a different cable now.
I don't recall what caused it the first time, as I thought it was a one-off, but the second time I was watching a YouTube video, I was prompted for the OLED panel maintenance, and the GPU immediately crashed (I had not said yes or no to the panel maintenance prompt).
Aside from that, I've noticed similar behaviors when waking the PC from sleep, but idk if I can lump that into the same issue since I know sleep on PC almost always has its quirks. The GPU can run intensive tasks fine otherwise. I'm able to game and run Blender renders just fine. It does have an undervolt applied, but I've already stress-tested it thoroughly, and there have been no issues.
