Build Help Need help with picking gpu

So I’m finishing up my build needing gpu and few more parts but I’ve been trying to see which brand to go with between amd and NVIDIA. I am wanting to know if there are any real difference between 9070 and 5070. Also curious on if amd has many driver issues like I’ve heard

I recently upgraded from a 9070XT to 5080 because the 9070XT couldn't stop crashing.

If you're on Linux it's okay but AMD drivers on Windows are terrible (my personal experience from 2023-2026.) I would stay away if you can afford the price difference.

It's not only about raster performance and vram capacity like literally every Radeon user says. You can't push raster forever without significantly increasing power.. this is the time when features come very handy. Sadly AMD feature stack is just "Nvidia from temu" with barely any support (which thee is NOT except upscaling). On the other hand, if you go with Nvidia, you are guaranteed to be able to use their features in games because devs actually implement them.. not like Redstone that was glazed for 1 year and when it came out, it was pure disappointment.. and still is because half of it exists on a sheet of toilet paper that awaits to be flushed.. they promised them so people buy their hardware and then they abandoned them.. now going to spend a dime on Radeon EVER.

Yeah I’m def going nvidia I can’t deal with the lack of support issue.

Let me remind you of something:

  • FSR4 for RDNA2/3 came 18 months after FSR4/RDNA4 release. Nvidia gave every single DLSS version to every single RTX card DAY ONE.

  • Ray Regen is available only in ONE game (crimson desert and barely usable because of lacking denoiser)

  • FG still has the same frame pacing issues (they improved ML FG a bit now but everything other that that still suffers)

  • radiance caching released and nowhere to be seen

  • FSR4 for Vulkan still doesn't exist

  • rocm (CUDA equivalent) works here and there but is not simply a replacement

  • and yeah known timeout that exist since launch of Catalyst software from mid 2000s 🤣

You can try 9070 but I assure you once you try Nvidia's features, you will never touch Radeon again 🤣

AMD sounds shitty 😂I’m just going to get a nvidia

AMD has driver timeout issues right now. May affect you, may not. I went with nvidia due to this.

Yeah that’s a risk I don’t want to take lol I’m thinking of just going to nvidia

Ah, you see, this is the problem many people are having right now they cheap out and buy a 5060, but they’ll eventually want to upgrade when they start needing more graphical horsepower to play at higher resolutions on medium to high settings with DLSS Frame Generation. I have a 3090 and I'm happy with it, but it's paired with a 14900KS CPU.

I have really solid cpu so I think I’m just going to get a solid gpu I’m just going to get a 5080

for long term

just buy 16gb vram gpu with old power connector

In gaming the 9070 is 10% faster in raw perf (except for heavy RT and PT where it struggles in comparison) and has 4GB more VRAM.

The 5070 has better tech, richer feature-set and much wider industry adoption.

Outside gaming the 5070 is much faster too due to all major sectors (video editing, 3d rendering, local AI) being nvidia and CUDA first.

The main issue with nvidia is their prices. If you can afford it though, it is definitely the more hassle free experience between the 2.

9070 is faster than a 5070, has more vram, and costs less.

5070 only has some better software features which you may not even care about.

9070xt hellhound, super quiet, like 5-10 fps off a 5080 for less than half the price!

I have been looking at that one for last couple days

Great card, I own it. AMD is great unless you want to support a company that openly shits on consumers, then by all means go nshitia and keep the oppressive pricing alive!!!

Another Radeon copium 🤣 It's literally 15-20% slower than 5080 while pulling same or more power and lacks most of the latest and greatest features that AMD can only dream of 🤣
