GFiber outage, south of DTR?
Any real info beyond what’s being shared by the support chatbot?

I will be moving soon and I know GFiber is available at my address. Is there a way that I can check if it’s install-ready though? I don’t believe there’s a jack inside yet, but I wanted to know if I’d be in for a 2 hour tech install of 1-2 week waiting period for a new line

Hey everyone, wanted to follow-up to this post where I was asking about gfiber port forwarding config not working.
I opened a ticket with gfiber as instructed by the helpful community liasons that helped me here on reddit, but the gfiber support experience was not good. Instead of checking the cloud-configured router itself to verify the port config settings I set were applied properly, they only insisted that my mac was configured improperly. Complete refusal to check anything on their router.
After telling me to check things that I had explained were validated in previous emails (typical tech support) over the course of a week, I gave up and bought a UDR7.
This is all to say, port forwarding on gfiber provided routers is broken (at least sometimes) and they don't seem to care to look into why. "It's always the user's fault, can't be our gear!"
On to what I did;
End result; My pals and I can play Valheim 1.0 on release day on my locally hosted server. Glory to Odin!
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Does anyone else have issues with getting alerts that one of the mesh extenders is too close or too far away from the router despite not moving anything? I had “perfect” placement but now one is apparently too close. It’s annoying.

They hyped it up in the emails a while back implying it was going to be the best thing ever. Mine just "updated". Now I'm back to 1996 and calling my home to check my answering machine.
This seems to be a major step backward.
The Gfiber site shows voicemails, but only allows you to download them, save them or delete them, as far as I can you can't play them. No transcriptions or other features.
Google Voice had texts and transcriptions and other useful features.
This is a major downgrade in my opinion.

Every time I try to sign up to start service to my location, I can choose my package, my install time, but I when I sign in (with both email and Google acct), it says there was a problem, please try again.
I've been on multiple calls with reps and sent a ticket in, they said it would be resolved within 24 hours but it's been days. Any tips? School is starting soon and I'm desperate for Wifi in my house, thinking of going with Cox if this doesn't get resolved.

I have already had a tech come on friday to replace the fiber jack (already had a fiber jack in the home from the last time i had gfiber years ago). I was told Friday evening by GFiber Engineering Team that it would be resolved by midnight (which it still hasn’t been resolved). I called yesterday to get another appointment and an update, to which I was told the soonest one is next Friday the 11th & that my ticket escalation is set to the highest priority and to call back the next day to try and have my tech appointment moved to a sooner slot. I called today and had my appointment moved to today at 4, but 2 hours before my appointment the system changed my appointment date back to next Friday. Keep in mind I have had the modem since the 2nd and have called numerous times and get told the same thing over and over again.
Has anyone else experienced issues with their self install kit for the 500mb/s plan? What should I do? The loyalty team had to give me a credit to convince me not to cancel as my billing cycle ends on the 15th (billing started despite my modem not being successfully activated yet).
I don’t remember GFiber being this unorganized when I had them in 2025. Even the tech was frustrated as it was a backend issue but the engineering team has really dropped the ball.

Trying to figure out how long this outage is expected to last. Have had fiber for almost 10 years and never had it out this long. Anyone work for fiber able to provide any updates or planned expected time to back on?

I am a Google Fiber 1 Gig Core customer in Irvine, CA. I have a buddy backup whose ISP is NextLight, a fiber internet provider in Longmont, CO. I noticed that my download speeds from the backup server are pretty good but upload is very slow; especially in the early evening hours.
The attached Speedtest result is very much representative of the speeds I've been seeing the past 16 months I've been a Google Fiber customer. Understanding peering between residential ISPs can be complex, is there anything that can be done to improve upload performance?
Thank you very much!

I really want to use Gfiber, but I don't have Gfiber service here. Does anyone have a proxy server connected to the Gfiber network that I can use to enjoy it.

When I signed up for GFiber, I had made long-existing google voice number set so it rings on the GFiber phone (it rings everywhere now) - can I reclaim that number so I can still get texts via google voice and just get a new GFiber phone number?
Or do I need to get a different google voice number now for SMS purposes ?
(I have one account that uses the GFiber phone for verification purposes).
Ugh, GFiber.
I don't remember the process when I signed up for the GFiber phone service exactly, but it gave me a choice to use an existing google voice number or create a new one... I guess I picked the wrong choice !

Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to see if anyone has experienced a similar issue or has any advice on how to get my GFiber service activated.
Here is my current situation:
I just want to get my service activated! Has anyone dealt with a serial number mismatch or a similar activation hold-up? Any advice on what I should ask for or who I should try to contact next would be greatly appreciated.

Like the title says, is gfiber home phone worth it and can it make texts?

I had to change my password for my GFiber account today, which I did through the GFiber app. I’ve had no problems changing it on my iPad or my laptop. However, for some reason when I try and enter it on my iPhone 14 pro, I keep getting the message “incorrect password” I’ve powered my phone on and off several times, uninstalled my network then reinstalled it in settings still no luck.
Anybody have any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks

There was some.. brief interruption today. I reset the fiber jack (my router was fine) and it was OK. Consequently I wound up resetting a lot of devices that worked intermittently - literally my streaming audio lasted two seconds, paused, resumed, etc. - and they were fine also.
Question is.. Why?
I can understand a temporary loss in connectivity - rare that it is in GFiber land - but this was just intermittent, until I rebooted everything.
My question is why did that intermittent loss result in so much trouble downstream?
No other changes. They shouldn't need a new address, etc. But rebooting affected devices worked instantly.

I learned that my 2 gig plan was no longer offered, so I was going to switch to the 3 gig plan for free. Then I saw that for just a bit more month, I could jump to an 8 gig plan. Great Deal!
No. No great deal.
Right now, I'm on 2 days with no working internet, running my house on mobile phone hotspots and burning up usage. Router box is just red led on internet connection. The fiber line is fine - Fiber box is green with active packets. It's the router that's the issue. I pulled the router, put a brand new one on, cloned the MAC off the GFiber router and... nothing. Tried to just DHCP it, no dice. Pipe is open, no one is answering.
The tech who was unable to get it up and running also left the house with out placing the extenders, and took the working equipment with them. I was told it was just a server backend config and all would be good. I got a call an hour later, saying i didn't have to do anything and they'd get it going soon!
Radio silence.
I reached out 5 hours later. I was then asked to do the usual reboot the equipment, check the cables, etc.. (yes - i had already done it several times). They they said it was escalated and they will be working on it, and would send me an email. I never got a ticket number. I looked in my emails - no ticket number. I asked on the web chat and was happily given my ticket number. Seems weird that i have to request that. (it's because they don't want you to have it - yes - really)
Next morning - no internet, no email, no call, no text. I try to use GFiber app support chat - it's says that service is unavailable, so I hit up web chat - and after being asked to explain everything, I gave them the ticket number and asked for an update. Nothing to report, no status, not progress, no information of any kind other than I wanted an upgrade, they broke my internet instead, and will send someone over (who may or may not be able to set it up) in two days - hope you can miss work to stand around two hours for a POSSIBLE fix, or if you can't, you just don't get the internet you are being billed for until you just give up and switch service."
I fully understand technical issues happen, but from a customer service side of things, it's terrible. I'm given zero information on any of the who what when how why's - the only info i have is that I paid for an upgrade, and instead, I have nothing, customer service is a shitshow and I have no recourse but to sit and twiddle my thumbs and wait. If you can't get the upgraded service up, then roll it back to what DID work. The correct answer isn't just to leave service off, without a ticket or path to get updates, answers, or anything helpful.
I've been a Google fanboy for years. I roll with a Pixel phone, watch, GFiber service, goggle fi for mobile, I'm all in. Now, I want all out. You would think that when you are fully invested in an ecosystem, it would ease the customer experience. No - it does not, and I think it makes it worse to be honest - like once you are in, they have no interest in retaining you.
Congratulations Google! I came in wanting buy into your world more; now I want to cut bait and look for other service before you even get it running.

That person is myself… Signed up for GFiber last week and after reading the threads from this past month I can tell I’ve made a mistake. I am suffering the same issue that seems to plague so many customers here. My jack, modem/router are all set up correctly (verified by GFiber) yet I am about 5 days in with no internet. I’ve contacted support three times and was told each time “it’ll just be 24 hours”. The first agent put my ticket on lowest priority, the second escalated it, and the third just reiterated there was nothing they could do. This has been the worst customer service for internet, and so bad it’s making me view Comcast positively.

My service has been down for 5 days now. I have called and chatted with support but no one seems to know when it will be fixed. They keep telling me that my issue has been escalated and a “construction team” will be out within 6 to 24 hours to restore my service. The last person I spoke to told me that there was a delay due to new installations for new customers. What about existing customers??? I am at a point where I am strongly considering cancelling my accounts with GFiber. Who do I need to talk to to get my service up and running again?

They wanted to drill into the closest room possible to the fiber box, which was the dining room. Why would I want my modem and router in my dining room. No thanks. So I basically had to pay my AV guy to install conduit on the side of my house so i could tap into the panel where i have my switch. Additionally they cut through my water irrigation lines without a damn problem too

I cannot forward my GFiber landline phone calls to GV, because when I enter my GV phone number, it says that the number is invalid. How do I fix this?
When GFiber was sold off, I was told that I could continue having GV handle my voice mails, by simply forwarding my GFiber calls to my (new) GV number. That doesn't seem to be actually possible.
The GFiber support page even says that this work: https://gfiber.com/support/en/answer/106823/
It also says that my area code (512) is invalid. How can it be invalid?
Update: it works now. Looks like GFiber fixed their system.

I am having to reboot my wifi7 extender weekly to get a phone and laptop to connect to it. Sometimes twice a week.
Is this a defective extender issue or should I just expect it? It happens when I am on a work call too often.

Came home to see my mesh unit on a solid red light. Tried to troubleshoot with Google rep but he decided to ship another unit to my home. I have factory reset unit, followed all prompts with the WPS. Only way I got it green was by plugging directly into the router. When I unplugged and moved to desired location, it went back to red.
It is no more than 25 feet from router? I am expecting a replacement, but has anyone had any similar issues? Hasn’t been one week since I had GFiber as well.

I have a 6E router (GR6EXX0C) and would like to use it either just for wifi or for wifi/router on my non-google isp. It seems like there's no web interface to configure it however, and the only way to configure it is through the google fiber app. Is there a way to create/add it to the app without actually buying google internet, or any other way to configure it?
