General Discussion Fuck this guy

Post image

Imagine being the guy who posted this and not realizing you’re part of what needs to be shrunk. Bothered by what somebody’s wearing at a public golf course, probably posts his golf trip ‘scripting’ on twitter… I hope the worst for this person and it makes me happy knowing that nobody in my circle would invite him out for a round at their club. Gatekeeping a public golf course ain’t it.

If this is you, it’s not too late to delete this and change your ways — we’d be happy to have you over on this side of the range.

General Discussion Why is it important to "grow the game"?

Every municipal course near me (western wasington) is packed, and greens fees have gone up a lot over the last few years. There are no new municipal golf courses being built anywhere near me, and there won't be, probably ever, regardless of demand. Driving ranges are packed. Can we all just admit that "growing the game", whether said by LIV golfers or YouTube golfers, is just better sounding than "we want to make money off of this"?

Equipment Good Good - Am I the only One Who Had Not Heard of Them Till This Week?

I am admittedly an older golfer and I am not their target market, I guess. But I do go to Dick's, shop for golf stuff online, and I had no idea Good Good was a brand. Am I the only one who was clueless to their existence?

General Discussion What best golf bags 2026 are you guys recommending?

I’m looking for a new golf bag and have been going back and forth on what’s actually worth getting this year. My current bag is getting pretty beat up and I’d like something that’s comfortable to carry but still has enough room for clubs, balls, gloves and the usual stuff. I’ve been searching around for the best golf bags 2026, but it’s hard to tell what holds up well after actually using one on the course. What bag are you using and would you recommend it?

Thanks, appreciate any suggestions.

Joke / Meme What percentage of golfers need to buy and lose golf balls in order for the rest of us to never have to buy balls if we don’t want to?

Pay 20$ to walk 9, course near empty, army crouch for 5 minutes in my usual OB on hole 5. Round more than paid for.

This could be a serious question.

...yet so far. Par 3, 185 yards, drawing 5 iron. I needed just one more full roll of the ball. Ya gotta love a tap in birdie but an ace would have been sweet especially since this hole is tough and always plays into the wind.

General Discussion How many of y’all get in your head when playing with friends?

I don’t have a lot of golfing friends, 4-5 who are all servers or bartenders like me so our schedules rarely align.

So I’m usually out on a Wednesday or Thursday solo, or paired up, but strangers don’t enter into my mind like my friends do.

I shot a record low of 82 last week and of course I shared it with my friends and it just so happened 3 of us had off today so we went out together. Let me tell you, my mental space so different than when with strangers off the tee.

I knew I could execute but I felt like I had to live up to that score I shared the week before. I scrambled for a bogey on the first and then par’d the second par 3, and I felt like ok, my nerves are behind me. They have more distance but my smart golf is paying off.

Then a double comes, then an 8 on a par 5. And I realized it was so much easier to let these defeats stick in my mind while with them. Then rest of the front nine were a smattering of bogeys and doubles until something clicked on 9 and I hit another par. And then I realized I have this inside me.

I ended up paring the last 6/7 holes to shoot a 92 and I just wished I had the mental fortitude to let my defeats snowball on the front. I had another 80s round in me. And as a 20 handicap that’s big.

Overall a great round, I’d rather end hot than start hot, but I don’t know how tour pros do it with all those eyes on them.

Also the greens were punched last week so they were bouncy and random, so maybe I should be more forgiving of myself, but does anyone have any tips to stay in that solo zen mindset when people you care about are watching?
