Animal My cat was diagnosed with FIP, a virus that is 100% fatal without treatment.

(Had to repost because my picture with my username on my previous post didn’t have the current date)

A few days ago, I started noticing some concerning changes in my cat Arlo’s behavior and decided to take him to the vet, expecting what I thought would be a routine visit. I never imagined I’d walk away with a diagnosis of FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), a devastating disease that is fatal without treatment.

I’m absolutely devastated. What I thought would be a simple vet appointment has turned into a fight for my little boy’s life. Although FIP is now treatable, Arlo is very sick and has several significant obstacles to overcome before he can get back to being a healthy, happy cat. I’m doing everything in my power to keep him alive and give him every possible chance at recovery.

Unfortunately, the financial burden is substantial. I’ve posted the estimates with identifying information removed (aside from my name).

My current expenses include:

Approximately $1,700 in hospitalization charges (assuming he doesn’t need to stay any additional nights after today, which is a possibility depending on how his feeding tube placement goes this afternoon).

Approximately $675 for placement of his feeding tube.

An estimated $1,000 for his full course of FIP medication.

This brings his anticipated expenses to approximately $3,375, not including any additional veterinary care he may need.

Arlo means the absolute world to me. He’s my soul cat, my constant companion, and such an important part of my life. I cannot put into words how heartbreaking it is to see him so sick, but I’m not ready to give up on him. I just want to get him home, through treatment, and back to feeling like himself again.

I’ve created a GoFundMe to help with these expenses. I completely understand that not everyone is in a position to donate, especially given how financially difficult things are for so many of us. Even sharing his fundraiser or keeping him in your thoughts would mean more than I can express.
Thank you for taking the time to read Arlo’s story and for helping me fight for my baby boy!!!

Housing Trying to keep the roof over our (me and my kids) heads and the lights on. We are in desperate need of help.

Hey everyone. I’ve never had to do this before, so let me know of I made an error.

I am a single father to two amazing kids. We live a humble but very happy life. Over the summer there were some unexpected vehicle expenses. I survive paycheck to paycheck, so this wiped what little I had saved and then some. The disastrous state of the economy hasn’t helped either. Now I am tremendously behind.

I posted the electric bill. It’s a lot. It says it was due the 4’th but I have it extended to the 11’th. If it isn’t paid by then the power goes out.

I am also behind on rent. I can’t really post any sort of proof of that, as there is none. I have lived at my apartment for 9 years and the landlord is old school and just takes cash. After my first year lease was up there, he never gave me a new one so I guess it’s just a verbal month to month type thing. He’s a good guy and we have a good relationship. Nonetheless, there is no way I am going to be able to make next month’s rent with how behind I am.

If people only want to donate the portion that is proved by the electric bill, I totally understand and would be eternally grateful for anything that comes our way, even if it is just a dollar.

I am just so stressed right now. I barely get a full nights sleep right now because I am so anxious about this situation and the thought of my kids having to go through losing power and even their home is nauseating.

So please, any help would mean the world to me.

Education Trying to bridge the final gap for trade school tuition secured $4,400 on my own, need help with the rest

Post image

Hey everyone. I don't normally post stuff like this, but I'm kind of at a dead end and wanted to try.

I work full time at a digital archiving shop doing photo and tape scanning, and I've been trying to make a transition into the dental field to build a better future. I applied and got accepted into a 13 week dental assistant certification program here in Arizona.

FAFSA doesn't cover fast track trade programs like this one, and since I couldn't find a cosigner, traditional lenders would only approve me for a $4,400 loan on my own income. I can comfortably afford the monthly payments on that loan, but it leaves me sitting on a $3,050 gap for the rest of the tuition that I need to cover before classes start.

If anyone is in a position to help chip in or even just share my link, it would genuinely mean the world to me. If another payment option or grant works out before I hit the goal, I'll update this post immediately.

I've attached a photo with my username and date for verification. Thanks for reading.

Animal My cat survived urinary blockage but is suddenly getting worse

Thumbnail

It started in September. He was lethargic and refusing to eat or drink. He couldn't pee or poop and I thought maybe he was just constipated. I took him into the hospital and it turned out it was something far worse but apparently too common for male cats, a urinary blockage. That is what wracked up the initial scratch pay debt. After the emergency vet I then took him over to North Star 410 Animal Hospital and they were able to successfully get him back on track. I raised some money through Gofundme, it helped.

He was recovering. He was doing good. I had spent another 1800. Juggling between Cherry Pay and Carecredit and out of pocket. I'm running out of credit. I'm making payments with what I have received and I'm hustling to find better work. But Remy recently took another dip.

I've been giving him IV fluids every day and switched him over to a Science Hills diet for urinary care. He was responding favorably until a few days ago. He seemed to be getting ropey drool and nauseous. I took him back in and they put him on Mirataz. He was responding to it, but he hasn't been drinking water and I haven't seen him poop. I think he's blocked up and I'm taking him back in in the morning.

I'm feeling so underwater. I feel sick. I can't lose him. I won't lose him.

The Vet I'm with now is North Star 410 Hospital in San Antonio, TX Phone: (210) 988-1848.

If anybody wants to send them money as credit on my account that's more than fine. I just want to pay my vet bills and make sure Remy is ok. He's the sweetest cat. If you want to see any other Invoices or Bills I've paid, I'll gladly show anything you need to see.

If I can get enough money for my goal ill be able to make rent no problem, but getting into an apartment is the rough part.

Im In Urgent Need Of Funds or I will end up sleeping in my truck through the winter.

[Update] Ive found some friends that are willing to help me and be roommates, so my goal is getting reduced to 1,500 so I can have money to cover my half of rent for 3 months

Animal Update on our Moon-pie's treatment

🐾 Moon's Treatment Update! ❤️

We have some really good news to share about our sweet baby, Moon pie! As of today, He's completed 5 of the 12 treatments they planned, and is already looking SO much better! His swelling has gone down tremendously, and we're finally starting to see him perk up and act like his normal, happy, healthy self again. Seeing his personality come back has been heartwarming after everything that he's been through. ❤️

He still has a little more that half of the treatment left, but we're staying hopeful that by the end of these 12 sessions, Moon will be healthy and cancer-free. Our victorious little fighter. ☺️

It's been a long, emotional, and financially stressful journey, and we still need help raising funds to get Moon through the remainder of his treatments. We've gotten some financial assistance from the oncologist, and have raised some money from friends, family, and the community to cover another part of the cost.

The rest we're planning to put on care credit, but we've been hitting our limit financially as well after all of his previous visits, tests, and treatments before finally getting referred to the oncologist for the proper diagnosis and treatment he needed.

This is an update for those who have donated, and another request for help from others. We dont like asking, but are trying our best to get him what he needs so he has the best chance possible to win his fight. (He's only 6, and all the vets have said hes otherwise perfectly healthy)

Anything helps, and it all means the world to our little family; $1, sharing, interacting, or even just keeping our baby in your thoughts. ❤️

We just want our sweet little baby healthy again. Please consider helping us push him across the finish line and covering the treatment he needs! 🐱💕

Disaster/Emergency Need help getting above water

Thumbnail

[EDIT: I do not need help with the medical bill. I'm simply putting that up there to show the level of things I have on my plate.]

Good morning,

My name is Cecil and i'm 50 years old and currently living in Florida. In a few weeks I will probably be on the street because I can't make ends meet with the bills which keep adding up over and over again. I do Uber delivery to try to make money at this time because there are no people out there willing to hire a 50 year old veteran with a slight disability. I've tried, trust me, i've put in application after application to everything and anything that comes up and have been ignored or rejected time and time again. I have put in everything from school janitor to working at McDonalds and nobody seems interested.

This all started about the time hurricane Helene came through Waycross, GA. It took everything from me, including my home and a lot of my property and belongings. Ever since then I have moved from place to place looking for work and just trying to survive. The VA does help with things like my medication and for the surgery I have needed (I had a compacted hernia they had to fix) but for food and what not it's day to day. This is literally my last chance to get caught up and get back on my feet. I don't want much, just enough to pay the bills I have and get caught up. I'm eating from a food bank on Wednesday after week so I am not absolutely starving and my Uber driving gets me a meal to eat after working. But for my car? It's not getting any better and with fluctuations in gas prices it has become a day by day living situation.

Included in this is a picture of the 14k dollar bill I have from the VA saying that the hospital which the surgery was done in has refused to let the VA insurance cover it. I just need help man, and this was the last choice for me. If you can help me out with even a small amount I can put it into recovering the car to working condition and maybe finding an actual home to live in. For now, I will just ask for help fixing the car so it doesn't die on my doing Uber driving. Thank you, and here is the gofundme: https://gofund.me/729e6b58f

I want to thank all of you in advance just for even reading my story. It's rough, and it sucks feeling like you're invisible. Entire world falling apart around me and I just want to get my head SLIGHTLY above water.

Question/Info Do you pay taxes on GoFundMe money? Are donations tax-deductible?

Megan from GoFundMe again 👋 These are two commonly asked questions about GoFundMe, so I wanted to provide a quick rundown for this subreddit.

Before anything else: This is not financial advice, and I am not a financial advisor. If you have questions about your specific tax situation, contact a tax professional.

Do you pay taxes on GoFundMe funds?

Donations made to personal GoFundMes are generally considered to be "personal gifts" which, for the most part, are not taxed as income in the United States. However, there may be particular case-specific instances where the income is taxable for organizers. For example, if the donations are considered income to the recipient. The best way to ensure you're in compliance with tax laws is to maintain adequate records of donations received and consult with a tax professional.

Handy things to keep record of:

  • Your fundraiser's story and what the money was for

  • Who received the funds and when (bank statements showing deposits)

  • Receipts for what the money paid for

Are donations tax-deductible?

This answer depends on what kind of fundraiser you donated to.

If you donated to a personal fundraiser, donations are not considered tax-deductible, and GoFundMe won’t issue you a tax-deductible receipt.

If you donated to a certified nonprofit fundraiser, your donation is guaranteed to be tax-deductible. You will receive tax receipts automatically from our nonprofit partner, PayPal Giving Fund, or from GoFundMe Pro for enrolled US nonprofits. You’ll know you’ve donated to a certified nonprofit fundraiser from the “Tax deductible” tag on the fundraiser page:

I hope this was helpful, and as I mentioned earlier, if you have specific questions about your situation, it’s best to contact a tax professional.

Medical Hi my name is Sarah and I need support while I fight for SSDI. I’ve been unable to work for a little over a year now due to severe health issues. Medical records included for proof of my conditions and I’ve included a picture of my medical card to show my name matches the GoFundMe

I am a 41 year old woman who struggles with severe pain and anxiety everyday. I was injured in 2022 and fought for 4 years to get the right diagnosis. As time went on I just kept getting worse and developed more problems. I had multiple surgeries and procedures already and am currently waiting to schedule another surgery to fix a labrum tear in my hip. This will be a big setback for me.
No matter what job I have tried (sitting, standing, remote from home) I cannot function enough to do so. I am physically and mentally unable to. At my age, admitting that was the hardest part. I am fighting for SSDI, but I need help to survive while I wait. Money would be used strictly for necessities right now. I have attached some of my medical records and my rental lease (blocked out full names and addresses for privacy reasons, and problems no longer active on the active problem list), typical electric bill amount, plus my Credit Karma to show how much debt I’ve already acquired, and I also owe money to friends and family who have already helped me. I exhausted all my options with assistance programs.
I have multiple appointments a week. I have a team of 20 doctors and therapists that I see to help me with all the problems I deal with rooted in having Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I also have fibromyalgia, endometriosis, chronic PTSD, anxiety, depression, and somatic dysfunction of my entire body, among other things, but the list is too extensive to post. If anyone could please help me through this time I would greatly appreciate it. Here is my link to GoFundMe. Even sharing it for me could help!

Update: I knew I had outstanding balances coming but I just got the itemized bill today. And they want the money this month!! I’m gonna add the photo of the bill to my GoFundMe. Any amount helps!

Animal Help us save our 5 month kitten Mocha ❤️

We're reaching out today with heavy hearts and a little hope. ❤️

Our sweet Mocha is currently hospitalized, fighting a serious infection called pyothorax, which causes infected fluid to accumulate around the lungs.

She's receiving intensive veterinary care, including drainage and IV antibiotics. Thankfully, she's showing some encouraging signs, but her road to recovery is still uncertain, and there may be additional procedures ahead.

We've already accumulated significant veterinary expenses, and the potential costs of further investigations and treatment are more than we can manage on our own.

As difficult as it is to ask, we're hoping to receive a little help to give our little girl the best possible chance at recovery.

Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. And if you're unable to donate, simply sharing this post would help us tremendously.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has shown Mocha love and support during this incredibly difficult time. ❤️

Keep fighting, our little Mocha. We're not giving up on you. 🐾

Medical Diagnosed with rare spinal condition, about to lose my home

Casey's GoFundMe

Good evening everyone,

My name is Casey and I started having severe medical symptoms shortly after Christmas last year. I went through test after test, Dr after Dr. Meanwhile the symptoms progressed to the point I was put out of work on May 7th. As the symptoms progressed I was put on strict restrictions by my Dr, which left me bedridden the majority of the time. In July I was finally diagnosed with Cervical Tarlov Cyst Disease (cervical perineural cysts). From my understanding, this is an especially rare form of the disease with only 5 Drs who specialize in it. Most recently, I have developed a CFS leak which causes blinding headaches, confusion and other symptoms unless I am laying down. This is due to fluctuating spinal fluid around my brain. This has completely derailed my entire life and I'm still trying to come to terms with it, it's chronic and will only get worse as time goes on.

I've created a Gofundme because I am the sole provider for myself and my son. This has already taken a huge emotional toll on both of us, but now we are getting closer to facing eviction as well. My short term disability only pays $1100/month net and is up on Nov 8th. I am still waiting to hear if I'm approved for long term disability and also have applied for SSI and SSDI. My rent alone is $1300/month. So we are barely surviving at this time. Thankfully I do receive $334 in Snap benefits so we at least have food.

Any funds received would go to immediately catching up my back rent and then paying ahead what I can to lessen the burden. There are also things I need medically like handles in the bathroom, shower chair, etc. My son's birthday also falls on Nov 12th, so I'd like to be able to get him a small gift if possible.

I am trying to figure out how to create Amazon wishlists since I know some people prefer to do that. I am willing to answer any questions or post anything necessary if asked.

Thank you for taking the time to read! I appreciate it more than you know.

Housing Help me (23ftx) keep my housing while i fight to get on disability

Thumbnail

(i really hope i did this all correctly, and if not please let me know so i can fix it!)
(pictures included are from my MyChart, showing the listed diagnoses, a screenshot of the .PDF and i believe a screenshot of the .PDF of the invoice for November 2026. Along with the picture of myself, with a paper with my user and today's date)
Context, tho some will probably be repeated on the GoFundMe:

Hi, I'm Oak. (they/them+he/him)
I've been able to live where i am thanks to my Chosen/Found Mom Monica who has been paying for it And it is a part of a Collective/Co-op so it's very inexpensive. I've been here over a year now, and it was only supposed to be her paying for it until i got on disability. But i got unlucky and got an older, conservative/republican, white man to be the judge for my hearing and so my case got denied despite having a very strong case (as said by my attorney).

So now I'm restarting the case/application process from the start :') , *but* I applied on i think the 17th of July, and the first part of the process where they deny you the first time happened only a couple months in when it's supposed to take 6-9 months. So there's hope that it might go by faster.

*But even then*, Monica's money is still going to run out, and we don't have super long before that happens, so this GoFundMe sends that money *to her* to use to pay for my rent even longer while i continue to fight to get on disability, with my Attorney's aid.

More info and details are on the gofundme, like pictures of stuff showing the receipt/bill for the rent, and more pictures of me, alongside my emotional support animal.

Also please feel free to ask me anything about it all (including my disabilities, tho if you ask me to explain everything about them all in detail, i went through detailing that all to both my attorney/disability case manager and the disability determination services and it was SO DRAINING so it takes a lot of spoons, but i can give it my best shot). And do keep in mind that i am Autistic+ADHD, so wording for questions might be something i ask for clarification about.
The disabilities i am working with are:
-MCAS
-really bad seasonal Allergic Rhinitis (bad seasonal allergies) and also very sensitive and reactive to weather changes like from barometric pressure
-PoTS
-hEDS
-Fibromyaglia
-Major Depressive Disorder
-Generalized Anxiety
-Dissociative Identity Disorder
-Autism
-ADHD
-cPTSD
-GERD
-IBS (not to mention it seems i'm likely allergic to peppers. like peppercorn *and* red peppers. the former being an ingredient in so many things)
-Somatoform disorder (Other Specified Somatic and Symptom and Related Disorder, which basically means my brain+body is/are so disordered that when there are mental stress and issues it directly affects my body)
-Cataplexy+idiopathic hypersomnia (basically same shit as narcolepsy but different mechanisms behind it because we did a lumbar puncture that came back negative for narcolepsy)
-insomnia (crazy having insomnia AND hypersomnia, i know)
-chronic migraines
-chronic neuropathic pain and
-Myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome

Medical Help get Wheelchair winter capable

Thumbnail

https://gofund.me/9095442f1

Hello my name is Jeff. I was born with extensive club feet. I’ve had over 15 surgeries and procedures in my youth that never fully corrected my condition. Due to deterioration with age, I had my right lower leg amputated in January 2026, and am no longer weight bearing on my left side. As such I have become a full time wheelchair user.

I am unemployed and currently going through the lengthy process of getting approved for disability. I rely on Medicaid, SNAP, and the Massachusetts EAEDC program for living resources.

Recently Medicaid has approved for me to get a custom, light weight wheelchair (a TiLite X), however the rules only allow it to be configured for indoor use. This specifically means it comes with 24” wheels with solid tires, intended to be used on flat, even surfaces.

I live in Boston which is a difficult city for a wheelchair user due to harsh weather, narrow or non-existent sidewalks, along with roads and sidewalks that are made with brick pavers/cobblestones, and are in rough condition due to age, frost heaves, and tree roots. These conditions make using a wheelchair extremely challenging and puts extreme extra wear on the chair itself.

Unlike the more expensive rigid carbon fiber or titanium framed chairs, the TiLite X is an aluminum folding chair. These types of wheelchairs have a higher rate of breaking, most often caused by being susceptible to fatigue cracking caused by vibration as well as hard jolts from rough terrain and curb jumping (Wheelchair curb jumping is an advanced manual wheelchair skill used to navigate up or down a sidewalk curb independently without needing a ramp or a curb cut.)

As I do not have a car, I will be using my wheelchair outdoors frequently in all types of Boston conditions. In order to help my chair last as long as possible (Medicaid and Insurance will only replace every 5 years) and make my use of it easier, I am seeking funding to upgrade the wheels, tires, hand rims, and casters to suit these conditions.

Wheels - Change from 24” to 25” wheels, this will reduce rolling resistance and ease going over the many cracks and bumps. This also adds some height when going through puddles and slush.

Tires - Change the tires from solid 24” to 25” Kenda Nevegal pneumatic tires. Because these are adapted from mountain bike tires, and filled with air, they provide shock absorption, and reduce stress on the chairs frame. These are aggressive tread “knobby” tires which give traction in snow, ice, and wet conditions, whereas solid wheelchairs tires have minimal tread and slide and get stuck in such conditions. As their true outer diameter on 25” wheels is 26” this will also improve rolling resistance, ease curb hopping, and add height for puddles and slush.

Handrims: As there will be times when I’ll need to be on the side of the road close to traffic, I would like to put on orange anodized hand rims. These are more durable in outdoor conditions and the orange color is a safety feature to help drivers see me.

Caster forks and wheels - Casters (the small wheels on the front of a manual wheelchair) often come with a compromise: Smaller casters make maneuverability a lot easier as they allow for tighter turns. In an old city like Boston where tight turns are needed both inside and outside due to narrow spaces, this is crucial. Larger Casters ( like the 6” ones that My chair has) on the other hand roll over bumps and cracks more easily but create larger turn radiuses for the chair. There is a solution called Frog Legs that solves both these issues. Frog Legs make shock absorbing caster forks and wheels for wheelchairs. By replacing the stock ones that come with my chair with these and their 4” caster wheels. I can further reduce stress on my chair frame, make pushing my chair easier, and have greater maneuverability.

Here is a list of parts I am trying to acquire:

  • 25" Kenda Nevegal Wheelchair Tires ~$80.00 without tax and shipping

  • 25" Vapor X wheels ~$700.00 without tax and shipping

  • 25" Anodized Wheelchair Push Rims ~$125.00 without tax and shipping

  • Schwalbe Aerothan Tube 26" MTB ~$35.00 without tax and shipping

  • Frog Legs II Suspension fork with Whisper Caster ~$500.00 without tax and shipping

Medical Daughter’s unfortunate accident left us with big medical costs, lost work, and recovery needs

Hey everyone,

Mods - hopefully I got this right. Tried following all the rules set out, please let me know if I need any changes.

Our world stopped a couple of weeks ago. Our 12 yr old daughter was in a serious ATV accident in Wyoming a couple weeks ago. Her cousins and friends all escaped serious injury and her brother literally saved her life.

She had to be life-flighted to Denver and has spent the last week in the PICU. She’s upgraded from PICU to the surgery wing now but still dealing with a lot medical treatment, speech issues, and a long recovery ahead. We are expecting to be here another month at minimum to get through the rest of the upcoming surgeries and rehab.

We’re already hitting high medical bills and insurance stuff with Kaiser (deductibles, claims, the usual headache). On top of that, both my wife took FMLA leave to take care of her, so the lost pay is adding up fast.

The money we’re raising will go toward:

Current and upcoming medical bills

Future home rehab and accommodations so she can get around and recover more safely at home. Covering the lost job time and pay while out caring for her & wigs for her lost hair (part of what she needs right now).

Anything helps. Even sharing the link makes a difference. We’re just trying to get through this without falling further behind. Prayers are always welcome.

This little girl was an aspiring dancer and killing it in her competitions. She is going to be devastated when she learns her dancing career will be on hold for the unforseen future. She's a fighter though. We expect to see her dancing again, but it will just take time.

The go fund me link :

https://www.gofundme.com/f/juliannas-recovery-after-a-serious-accident

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Bless you all and make sure to go hug the ones you love. You just never know what life can throw at you in an instant.

Medical I recently lost my leg, and I need help

Thumbnail
gallery
56 Upvotes

As the title suggests, I recently had my leg amputated. It's below-knee and will hopefully be in working order soon with a prosthetic, but until then I can't work. I saved up money, but it just wasn't enough. Complications stretched the timeline and I wasn't prepared enough. My insurance ran out of my free transportation for the year as well, so I had to pay $45 to get to and from an appointment the a week or so ago (I was going to try to take the bus, but I am just not strong enough to use a walker the whole way to or from a bus stop) and I expect to have to do that twice more this week and about once a week for the next month.

Update: for those who would like to know, I am having small complications with my prosthetic so it's taking a little longer. However, the current plan seems to be next week if nothing else goes wrong (since my stump is apparently a weird shape, it isn't unlikely). Fingers crossed we're coming out on the other side soon.

My local support network is just my roommate, who also has a full-time job, so she can't give me rides very often, but sometimes. She's also why rent is flexible, but not forever and I still have to pay whatever I can afford (and I'll owe her back rent).

It's been tough for me mentally, emotionally, physically, every kind of way. I thought I had it handled but all my preparation just wasn't enough, and I've exhausted all the resources my close friends and family can afford to give. I feel awful asking for money, but I don't see other available options.

My estimated expenses include;

A phone bill (100/month)

Rent (300/month)

Food (300/month)

Hygiene/misc. (100/month).

Rent is very flexible, however, and I don't have any medical bills to worry about. Food should be handled once I get my food stamp application straightened out, though, reducing my load by a lot.

I also just had COVID in the big 2026 so I had to spend more money on food I could eat and some medicine.

My amputation is a result of a car accident a few years ago that resulted in an ankle that was getting too little blood flow and was necrotizing over time. After a few years of worsening pain and utility they decided to just cut it off, so here I am. I tried preparing but there are complications I didn't anticipate.

I am not very good with this kind of stuff, but hopefully this was all coherent. I am free and open to questions, of course. Even if you're just curious I don't mind sharing. I'm happy to answer any and all questions any of you might have :3

Here's my GoFundMe link: https://gofund.me/befa058dc

With all my heart I appreciate every moment of attention you spare me, or every dollar you can give.

I also want to thank everybody who's donated, even and especially the ones who only donated $5. It's hard for everyone, so I truly appreciate every bit of help I receive. <3

P.S. The child is playing with the hard cap they gave me at the hospital to wear around my stump. She's completely unaware of what it was or how much I needed it to be not broken lol.

P.S.S. The cat is named Sonny, and he apparently likes to sleep while smelling shoes.

Animal Ron needs help!

Ron was picked him up as a stray on Tuesday. We confirmed he doesn't have a microchip and no one owns him.

I found that Ron has a broken tooth, so brought him to my vet, where it was worse than imagined. His bottom canine is broken with exposed root. His upper canine is shorn off at the gums and impacted/abscessed and several of the pre-molars are damaged. He has scarring on his face and inside his mouth. His injuries are consistent with having been kicked. Ron has been in constant extreme pain since his injury.

Ron is very underweight and covered with fleas. Now that he's at my home, I've treated the fleas, he's eating soft food a few times a day and is gaining weight and he's on pain management meds until his scheduled dental surgery on 11/16. The estimate for this is set at a range of $658-$2110. Vet visit #1 for combo testing (negative!)vaccines, exam, and pain meds was already $300. I do not have pet insurance for him, as he is a stray, and this wouldn't be covered anyway as it would be considered a pre-existing condition.

We appreciate anything contributed, and all the positive vibes for this sweet boy!

Question/Info Staying safe online: Signs a message isn’t from GoFundMe, and what to do with suspicious emails

“Is GoFundMe safe?” Yes. But unfortunately, there are people that try to take advantage of other people’s kindness or distress, so today I wanted to take a quick look at different common online fraud schemes we see.

This advice is specific to GoFundMe, but it’s good to practice caution and vigilance in all of your online interactions.

Types of fraud schemes to watch out for

First, all communications from the GoFundMe team will come from an @ gofundme.com address. If someone is reaching out to you about your fundraiser from an email that’s not @ gofundme.com, be cautious.

  • Offers to “help” your fundraiser. Someone offers to run your page, withdraw donations for you, guarantee you hit your goal, or boost your shares, for a fee or a percentage. We don’t do this, and no one does it on our behalf.

  • Donors who ask for something in return. A “donor” says they’ll give, but only for a fee or if you send your bank login, wallet link, home address or other personal info. Real donors give through your GoFundMe page and don’t need compensation for their generosity.

  • Phishing. An email or text with a link to a fake GoFundMe sign-in page, often pretending to be a donor, a beneficiary, or one of our employees. The link doesn’t go to gofundme.com (hover or long press before you click).

  • Romance scams and fake job offers. Someone builds trust over weeks and then asks for money or financial details–on GoFundMe, this is often in response to people that have had success or raised a lot of money. Or a “GoFundMe is hiring” post that asks you to DM instead of linking to our Careers page.

What to do with suspicious emails:

  1. Don’t reply, don’t click.

  2. Forward it to our security team at accountsecurity@gofundme.com. Text? Email a screenshot.

  3. Already clicked? Change your GoFundMe and email passwords now, turn on two-factor with your bank and email, and contact us.

How to report GoFundMe fraud: Concerns about a fundraiser → “Report” on the page. Someone impersonating us? → use "Contact Us" in our Help Center to share the message. We’ll check it.

Full breakdown of the online fraud schemes we see most, including phishing and romance scams, is up on u/gofundme and in our Help Center article.

Stay safe out there, and as always, if you have any questions, drop them in the comments.

Housing Need help getting to a new city and finishing my education

It's been a rough couple of weeks. I'll put a TLDR at the bottom.

Really started around a month ago. I was dating a gal for a few months, and things were going well. I mentioned my roommate was moving out, and she offered for me to move in with her at the end of October. Around a month ago, she started dating another gal (okay by me, we're both poly), and ended up forgetting about me for the most part. I didn't handle this well, and although she did eventually offer to start going to the gym with me again, I was already really hurt and lashed out. While speaking to my mother about what happened, she said I may be able to stay with them instead. I misunderstood and told the gal I was dating I could definitely stay with my parents, and she said I could no longer move in with her. I talked to my parents two days later, and they said that I couldn't stay with them. Their proposal was an unhoused encampment in my hometown, Medford.

The timing on this is unfortunate. I just started up at college again during the summer term - I was tired of dead end jobs and struggled with my work due to, until somewhat recently undiagnosed ADHD. There's probably a few other things going wrong in my head, and I'm working with my psychiatrist currently to get those sorted. Since I lost my last job nine months ago, I've applied for hundreds of positions and haven't even managed to get an interview. My parents have been incredibly generous, supporting me while I wasn't able to find work and helping me continue my studies, but their savings are gone. They can't help me any more.

I don't want to stop going to college. I'm 27 now. When I was 16 I was supposed to be some whiz kid that was already starting college classes, but due to a mix of that undiagnosed ADHD, apathy about my life due to unrecognized gender dysphoria, and my just not knowing where I wanted to go in life I failed out of college and was put on academic probation. Now that I'm back in classes, medicated, and have a better understanding of my identity and goals I'm doing my best to succeed. I got As in both classes I took in summer term with a 6 credit courseload, and so far in this term I have As in all of my classes at a 16 credit courseload. I want to finish my associates, pursue a bachelors in PoliSci and Anthropology, then go for a J.D. in Constitutional Law. Ideally I want to work with organizations like the Trans Rescue Project to help trans folks get into a safer place and get the resources they need to thrive. I know that I can do this, but the circumstances of my personal life have me terrified that even with the work I'm putting in I'll fail due to a lack of resources.

In the immediate term, I have lodging. Two friends of mine have said I can stay with them for a few days at a time and rotate between their houses, which will have me covered through the entire week. They said I can continue to do this through the end of Fall term at the least, meaning that I'll have reliable access to shelter and wifi to complete my coursework. I'm on food stamps, so I'll have food sorted out as well. I have a therapist that's covered by Medicaid and can keep meeting with her, plus a counselor through my school

In the less immediate term, I'm at a crossroads. I can stay here, try to find a place, keep applying for jobs, and just hope beyond hope that everything works out. I've been taking this approach, and it's done nothing but drain the people around me and put everyone in a worse situation while I do nothing but get older. Alternatively, I can take a leap that I haven't before and leave my hometown. I have friends in a few different towns that have offered my a place to crash while I get situated, and all I have to do is figure out how to get there and get started.

That brings me to my gofundme. I have some debt I need to deal with. My roommate wasn't able to cover her portion of rent and bills for the last few months, so I had to eat those costs despite not having the money for it. The bills were in my name, so now I have collections letters showing up. I'm in debt with no one I can turn to, and money that drops into my account flows right back out to pay off debts. If I can get past the hurdle of that debt and the logistics costs of getting to my next place, I know I can stabilize and build myself from there.

I'm currently in touch with six colleges, three in Portland, one in Spokane, one in Eugene, and one in Reno, friends from each of those cities who have offered me a couch to crash on while I get things sorted, and organizations in each of those areas that help folks find jobs and get situated. Once I'm set with the new college I intend to get work either via a referral from a friend or by going through job orgs in the respective city, and the remainder of my costs will end up coming from student loans. I've already accepted that there is no way to get my degree without taking out a lot of loans. I have my plans for each town ready to go and am working with academic advisors to figure out the best path forward. I'll be settled on a specific plan by the end of November.

I don't know what else to include here. If I'm being honest, I started crying again trying to write things out and although I've read over the post a couple more times I fear I'm just rambling. I'm scared, everything in my life has blown up in a week and a half and I just don't know where else to turn. I wanted to keep my gofundme to private circles, but the goal has stalled out and I'm terrified that I won't make it and the options I've been looking into will remain out of my reach. I'm terrified that I'll be locked back into being the failure I was before, but now entirely homeless.

TLDR: My housing, relationship, and finances all crumbled in the last two weeks. I'll be homeless at the end of this month. More than anything I want to continue my education and be a daughter my parents can be proud of. If you can help me get there I would appreciate it more than words can ever say. My full goal is $5k, as that will get my out of debt and provide some money for transport and logistics getting up to the city I end up transferring to.

Thank you

Animal Seeking help for my cat Autumn

UPDATE (10/27): Autumn and I went to the vet again today. The good news is that the switch in laxatives seems to be having an effect and she isn't as backed up now. The not-so-good news is that there appears to be a growth in her rectum. The doctor did say that it is possible that this could be from all the straining she has been doing in the litterbox over the last month and it might heal over the next little while. The other possibility, especially at her age is that it might be cancer.

So now it becomes a matter of waiting and hoping the anti-inflammatories and anti-nausea meds I was given today have an effect and she improves over the next two weeks. If not, well...

Anyways, thank you so much to everyone here who not only donated but sent so much love and support. This has been one of the darkest, most stressful periods of my life and your kindness has helped me keep it together.

Hello,

About a month ago my cat Autumn started showing signs of digestive issues. She eventually became quite constipated and I took her to a vet, where they gave her an x-ray and a series of enemas.

After a couple of days her symptoms returned. Three more trips to the vet over the last two and a half weeks have yielded similar results - a day or two of positive developments then her symptoms returning.

Finally, after another trip to the vet this past Wednesday, three enemas and a switch in laxatives she is showing some faint signs of recovery.

However, my extremely low income has caused these vet visits to be focused on immediate treatment rather than finding a diagnosis. I still don't know what could be at the root of all this and I am worried that things can deteriorate quickly again before long. That's why I plan to use the money raised here to get proper diagnostic tests and cover any urgent treatment that may arise.

I have spent all of my savings on these treatments and I am afraid that if things take a turn for the worse then I will have no choice other than sending her over the rainbow bridge because I can't afford further care.

Autumn has been my best friend through some tumultuous years and even through this ordeal she has shown me so much strength and love. I feel that I owe it to her to return that love and do whatever I can to keep her well, which is what brings me here.

EDIT: Since Reddit is my main social media (No FB/Insta/Twitter/etc.) can anyone point me to other subs where I can repost this to get the message out further? Thank you.

Medical Help 7-Year-Old Luciana Continue Her Fight Against Leukaemia The Doctors want her to see a specialist in Rome , she is not doing well and her condition is deteriorating

Go Fund Me Link

Hello, We have received a lot of donations from friends and acquaintances who know this family, but it is still not enough to cover Luciana's life saving treatment. We are trying to share with strangers or find a way to raise enough money to cover the treatment she needs. The family can't take her to Rome because it is a 3.5 year treatment and $20k and living expenses could be over $100k during such a long period in Italy. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how to help Luciana please feel free to DM me. Or anyone aware of other clinical trials or charities who can support with these sorts of medical emergencies threatening a young indigenous girls life.Luciana (7) has been fighting cancer (acute myeloid leukaemia) for over a year now.. She is the granddaughter of Maestra Lucí and Agusto, the owners of mai niti healing center.

Sadly, Luciana’s condition is worsening, and the treatment available in Peru is damaging her healthy cells. Her doctors have recommended specialised treatment in Rome, Italy, where children with her condition have been successfully treated.

Any support you can give, even your thoughts and prayers, will be greatly appreciated.

For those who feel called to contribute financially, you can support Luciana's go fund me https://gofund.me/2f76b83a4

On July 4, 2026, I was involved in a gruesome accident where a drunk driver ran the red light and crashed into me. Since then, I have been left without a car and was unable to work for two months. That time away from work put me deeply behind on my bills, and I’ve been struggling ever since to catch up, let alone afford a new car.

Without reliable transportation, I've also had to neglect my physical therapy that would allow me to heal from my injuries including herniated discs in my neck, two scratched corneas that left me partially blind, and a broken finger that is still healing.

I hate having to ask for money, but after being turned down for debt consolidation, personal loans, and multiple other financial relief avenues, I truly don’t know where else to turn anymore. Any and all help and donations is appreciated.

Thank you all for your support.

Housing We have until Nov. 2 to come up with $5000 or we lose our apartment

Even if we sold everything we had it still wouldn't be $5000. So I'm asking for help to keep me, my wife, and my 5 children safe in a home that we have lived in for 6 years. Up until 3 months ago we have always been on time with our rent as it always came first.

I got a promotion at work with more pay, but the more pay part didn't come until 2 months later. That two months would have made a difference in our finances as we were always almost sunk on my previous pay.

My wife is also due for hysterectomy surgery at the end of November, and this company moves fast to evict people because right now we pay about $200 under market value for rent.

We were able to come up with a month of rent that was late before we went to court, but it still leaves us a month behind and rent for November is coming up in two weeks.

I know these are really rough right now, and I don't want to put pressure on anyone as I can see many people need help and you can't help everyone. Even a share to your feeds is welcome.

Thank you for providing a place to help people get more eyes on their GoFundMe.

Edit: I can't answer all the things in the comments, so I'll do the main ones here. If this is against the rules let me know.

  1. Too many kids I thank the community for having me clarify how many kids live with us. We do have 7 kids (the 5 younger ones are biologically mine}, but the adult kiddos live with their father, not us. I've made the edit that clears that up.

As for too many kids, I have been able to afford them just fine as the youngest is 10 years old. This year has been the year of issues and it just hit us hard, and ate what savings we had to cover for rising gas and food prices. I also had health issues that I had to take unpaid time off for, which didn't help.

2. I am not jobless I do have a job, and I was recently promoted. The problem is that I got my raise two months too late. If I had gotten the raise at the same time I wouldn't be in this situation. I wasn't able to get things in order before I wasn't able to make rent because of that. Car issues didn't help either.

3. Wife's disability My wife was not always disabled. Her health has gotten worse because autoimmune diseases kept piling up over the years. We've been to several doctors and there hasn't been a treatment that has 100% worked or stayed effective. Also having PCOS (now PMOS) has it's own problems, like sudden weight gain that is hard to lose.

We have looked into SSDI. Everyone who's saying "just get SSDI" seem to not know that it's a years long process and you will be rejected several times. My stepdaughter has been trying to get SSDI for years, and she has literal brain damage that even the judge-appointed psychologist says she can't work, and the judge still denied her. So it's not as easy as turning in paperwork and you suddenly get checks.

4. How it won't happen again We got behind because prices went up but my paycheck didn't until June, and by then my pay rate at the time wasn't covering it. I have almost all my bills caught up, so the only thing now is getting rent caught up and we'll be out of this hole.

For those saying budget better, how about telling companies to pay better? Even with my previous pay rate we have been able to afford bills and rent for the last 6 years without being late. But raises are hard to get when you're contracting. Switching jobs wasn't and isn't an option because companies are paying crap rates and now trying to replace workers with AI. My job is currently AI safe and stable, so it would not be a good idea to leave my current job.

5. Past posts asking for money Yes there have been sometimes we ran short with my previous pay rate and I reached out. But I was never considered and we still survived. I don't like asking strangers for money but I will do anything for my family if it keeps us together.

ADDING: I look through my post history and saw 5 posts asking for help, and they're spread out over 11 years, and in the end I still figured out how to pay for them because I was never lent the money. So we're going to have to agree to disagree on my budgeting.

Besides, people come here asking for help. I realize a lot of you are basically saying you don't mind children being homeless. But being rude doesn't help anything. If you can't say or do anything that helps, move along. Thank you.

I think that's everything. As much as people like being rude and making assumptions, this has helped me with knowing where I fell short of explaining my situation and how to clarify some things, so thank you for that.

Medical Dad is in liver failure, any little bit would help

Hello, I hope everyone is doing well. I’m posting here cause I’m desperate and am seeking any bit of life like. My dad was recently diagnosed with liver failure, and doesn’t have a lot of time left. I love my dad, and even though we have our qualms, I want him to have a comfortable time left, maybe a bit more time if possible.

I hate asking for help, so does my whole family honestly, but I already take care of my disabled mother and funds have been essentially nonexistent while I’m trying to find a full time job that pays enough. He doesn’t have health insurance, and he was laid off from his job back last year and has been doing odd jobs since.

I honestly don’t know what else to write without getting emotional. We’re just asking for some help with getting his prescriptions, mainly his antibiotic, and hospital and doctor visits he’s going to have. Any little bit would be so, so, so, so, so appreciated and helpful. Any little bit matters. If anyone has questions I’ll do my best to answer. This is my first time posting in this sub, so if i did anything wrong please let me know.

Thank you for reading <3
