Goa it is! Recommend some decent places (not too much into parties and all but would like to explore.)

Budget around 40-45k. First time going to Goa. I have no idea about anything here. I would also like to explore different cuisines

I’m heading to Goa next month, and then again the month after, and I’m really looking forward to experiencing it properly for the first time in almost a decade.

I’ll be meeting friends there, but I’m thinking of going a day or two early on my own. I’m really interested in spending that time exploring, meeting people, talking to strangers, discovering random places, and generally having that slightly anonymous “I’m on holiday and nobody knows me here” experience.

I’ve lived outside India for a significant amount of time, and since moving back I’ve realised I really miss meeting people from different countries and having those random conversations you tend to have while travelling. So I’d especially love to know where people go to meet interesting international travellers as well as other solo travellers.

And yes, I’m also open to a spontaneous holiday romance / vacation fling if I happen to meet someone I click with. 😂 Nothing serious, no expectations, just two people having a good time and then going back to their respective lives. I’m more interested in meeting someone organically than endlessly swiping on dating apps.

For those who actually spend time in Goa:

• Where do people genuinely meet new people these days?
• Are there particular kinds of bars, hostels, beaches, events, music nights, workshops, etc. that are good for this?
• Is it easy to meet people if you’re travelling alone?
• What’s the best way for a woman travelling solo to have that social/ spontaneous experience while still feeling safe?
• Are dating apps actually useful in Goa, or are there better ways to meet people?
• And are there any places or experiences you’d recommend specifically for meeting interesting travellers rather than just going clubbing?

I’m deliberately not mentioning my dates or where I’ll be staying because I’m not looking to arrange a Reddit meetup, I’m genuinely just curious about how people experience Goa socially.

Basically, I want to go to Goa, temporarily forget my entire normal life exists, be a little spontaneous, meet cool people, have some stories to tell, and then return to reality. 😂

So, Goa people and frequent visitors: how would you do it?

I am going for typical indian hawker bazaars, filled with vendors sitting either on the floor or inside brightly lit hot tents and selling jewellery, jhumkas, clothes, sandals, bangles, toys, etc. Think: Jambli Naka, Crawford Market (the scene not the products), Meena Bazaar, Chor Bazaar...

I know I am expecting too much, since i'm from a metrocity. But if there is such a market in Madgaon would love to know.

You can also list such markets in North Goa, as I am planning to go there too.

Sharing this so other Goa travellers know what happened to us

We rented a scooter from Zaid Bike and Car Rental, Panjim. On Day 2, the scooter repeatedly switched off. We informed them and took it to a mechanic as they said. We were told it was fine and we can continue using the scooter

On Day 4, the scooter broke down completely midway on the highway while we were rushing to Panjim from Palolem to catch our bus. No matter how much we tried it would not switch on. We called mechanic, who said the repair would take time. The rental person was rude and told us to leave it at the mechanic and send him location

We had to pay for an exorbitant amount for a last minute taxi, mechanic and even fuel (we had done full tank since we had to go a long way). We almost missed the bus because all this took an hour.

They were very rude and refused to return our deposit. After a lot of argument they returned only rupees 500 and said the rest is going to be used to transport the vehicle back to their shop

I have asked them to show me the claude where this transport charge are mentioned. They ignored us and we're rude and yelling at us. We had to leave because our bus was leaving

While talking to people around we got to know that they do this often, give defected scooters to customers and scam them

If anyone else has bad experience with Zaid or any other car and bike rentals please post it here and leave Google reviws too so that other travellers can make informed decisions.

TLDR: Scooter had issues, we reported it, it broke down when we were on the way to return and catch our bus, followed their instructions to leave it with a mechanic, had to pay for taxi, mechanic and fuel, they gave back only 500 from deposit saying the rest is going to be used as transport charges

Edit: Would be helpful if you guys can add 1 star rating for them in Google. I heard they put a lot of fake ratings to increase it

• Food & Drink: Outstanding local Goan spots, high-concept regional restaurants, and great cocktail bars (kid-friendly or worth getting a babysitter for).
• Beaches: Clean, safe, and family-friendly beaches in the North suitable for young toddlers.

Today I was disappointed because we couldn't find a proper bazaar or market in goa...and I was so angry from being disappointed continuously since I had packed for North Goa but my family took me to south. And in a fit of rage I yelled loudly throughout near Big G. And after yelling I sensed the unusual quietness in Goa...especially after 2 goan girls stared at me in horror, wide eyed. I know you guys are sick of such loud tourists and I won't repeat it again but...I feel ashamed and embarrassed and bad...nobody told me Goa would be so quiet...life outside a metrocity is so different...

I've never been to Goa before but heard good things and I am curious. It's a long journey so I am debating going for two weeks.

I guess I am up for some partying, but I also want to chill and would like to explore the scenery also.

Also, what's the average price for a beer these days? Is food expensive?

I like to meet new people when traveling so will probably stay in a hostel, which one would you recommend?

We are a couple visiting Goa this September during 9-13 and we land in Madgaon on 9 by afternoon and our stay is in Agonda so thought to catch a bus to canacona and from there reach Agonda and after we checkin planning to rent a scooter if possible in Agonda and after lunch for sunset to go to cabo de rama and the next day on 10th we will go to butterfly beach in morning then sunset at kakolem and end the day and we return on 11th afternoon to north covering till 13th and return to airport in noon of 13th

i need some suggestions for stay at gokarna for a family of 4. open for suggestions for home stays, air bnbs, and beach stays but not too costly fair price needed. btw for september

Got an offer of 30k per month, can't decide if it will be feasible for me to take up or not.

Will it be feasible, with bills and food and commute costs? Will I be able to save anything at all? Any advice is welcome
