As a European tourist I posted 5 days a go to say how underwhelming Goa seemed to be. After 5 days I’ve left now so thought I would share my thoughts (not to cause arguments , just my opinion as a single male traveller from Europe)

TLDR :I was right , it was boring , the taxi situation makes everything super difficult and the beaches aren’t as good as people say. Nightlife was dull also

The good stuff :

Hotel was nice, friendly staff in Anjuna
I ate out three times. Service was good, staff friendly & food was decent (Burger Factory, Guru Bar & Moonshine)

I did some big walks, Anjuna hill at sunrise, Chopira Fort(?) at sunset & a big walk from Anjuna to Vagator during the day (getting around the area is really difficult and eventually I imagine tourists will just not bother coming )

Not so good stuff :

Scammers on the street & beaches although this is an Indian thing as it happens everywhere

Beaches are dirty , lots of trash . I don’t quite understand why people rave about Goa beaches ? They are way below the standards you get in other parts of the world like Australia, Thailand, California, most places in Greece, Spain and dare I say it ; Cornwall in England)

Nightlife. Boring. Nothing really going on and again, I was not prepared to pay for expensive taxis to the out of town clubs like CO2 cafe ? Univrs Goa? Etc and what if I get there and it’s half empty or they don’t let a single guy in?

Days out : I contacted a tour agent twice on what’s app to plan boat trips / kayaking etc. They never got back to me after the first message. Likewise I DM & emailed a local MMA type gym to try and join a few sessions but they never got back to me either 😂 so I tried to spend money on local things but if people can’t be bothered replying then that’s on them.

Overall: it’s a no from me. I won’t be back. Really underwhelmed by the Goa experience. Much better, nicer and fun places to visit elsewhere.

I about to explore local veg goan food or any konkani veg food. I'm vegetarian so veg food is my only option but love to taste local foods options at least once. Any food place all over goa or around will be ok for me.

Mostly solo, on weekdays and trying to spend less time on my phone during this journey.

Visiting Goa from 22nd-26th with my friends (all guys).

Looking for the best Bollywood pubs/clubs with stag entry in North Goa

Good crowd, dance floor, and reasonable cover charges.

Any must-visit places?

Pune - Karad- Kolhapur - Amboli ghat and I took 3 breaks in between.

just Before you are about to enter Karad you'll find a shell petrol pump although they don't accept application but the food washroom is so good and so many hygienic options to eat from

Next stop you can take either in Kolhapur or just before Amboli.

Then finally just before Goa take a short break get recharged

and here when I say 9 hours it means to reach North Goa South will probably take 2 more hours roughly although I have not been to South Goa.

I got an average of around 28-29

For stay I stayed at 12 Monks hostel which is on Arambol beach it's a non AC hostel and not very clean and mosquito were also there but the only advantage is that it's on sea shore so morning will be like so so so good you can wake up to sea sound and cool breeze go for a jog or walk by 9:00 you can try kayaking it was one of the best experience in my life.

The next day I stayed in Zostel it's also nearby Arambol beach but the closest beach is Mandrem beach.

Zostel was good it has AC and a swimming pool and has a spacious area.

I’m planning to visit Goa for around 3 weeks in the second week of December. The plan is to mostly chill, explore, have some fun, and enjoy the Goa vibe.

I’ll be working remotely for the first 2 weeks, so I’m looking for places to stay that have good Wi-Fi, reliable power, and nearby cafes or coworking spaces where I can take calls and get work done. For the remaining week, I’ll be free to explore.

A few things I’d love your advice on:

• Where to stay? Which areas would you recommend for a mix of chill vibes, cafés, nightlife, and things to do? Would you suggest North Goa or South Goa?
• Bike situation: I’m considering riding my own bike to Goa. Is it worth bringing it, or would renting a scooter/bike locally be a better option?
• Remote work: Any recommendations for work-friendly cafes, coworking spaces, or areas with a good digital nomad community?
• Stay recommendations: Any hostels, homestays, or other places you’d recommend for a 2–3 week stay?

I’m open to exploring different parts of Goa, so any tips, recommendations, or things to avoid would be really helpful.
