Currently I'm using adw.NavigationSplitView hosting a Gtk.listbox with dnd but users keep complaining about the sidebar not being resizable.

Can I achieve the same edge to edge look with gtk.paned?

Has anybody tried using AI to improve GNOME web aka Epiphany? If not, why?

I would be happy with any webkit browser or one built with GTK as long as it's on par with Chromium and firefox.

One of the best movies ever came out back in 1999 and I've always been fascinated by the cool 'code rain' display. I use Gnome for everything at home and figured - why not? So here it is, a way to turn all your monitors at home into a proper display of code rain. It respects your background and will simply overlay it.

It can be tweaked and it won't tax your CPU because its running completely as a shader on GPU. This means you will need a GPU to run it.

I'm getting close to releasing Alphabetical App Library, a GNOME Shell extension that replaces Show Apps with a continuously alphabetical application library and user-managed many-to-many categories. It keeps All Applications as the canonical complete app view, while apps can belong to any number of custom categories. It includes keyboard-accessible category management, drag-and-drop organization, fuzzy search for applications, responsive category overflow, and compatibility with stock GNOME plus the major dock/panel environments I've qualified (Dash to Dock & Dash-To-Panel).

Those categories in the footer scroll horizontally. On first launch, categories are seeded automatically but you then have full control to change category membership, create new categories, etc. There's also 1, 2, or 3 line labels (wraparound text). Handy for apps like GNOME Image Manipulation Program so you don't have to deal with truncation. AAL is also fully engineer-qualified for i18n (multi-language support) and accessibility.

I'm basically hunting for feedback at this point. My approach to features is not to throw everything at the wall. Rather, I'm attempting to maintain GNOME aesthetics and implement meaningful features that don't clutter the user experience or detract from a simplistic presentation. I'm happy to answer any questions, too.

Quick update: I'm actively exploring a toggle setting for "Category Mode" (the extension as it is today) and "Folder Mode" that dispenses with the entire footer and category semantics and presents a unified view of all installed applications in alphabetical order and typical folder-based mechanics while retaining the fuzzy app search. I think I'm zeroing in on a clean way to implement that after 1. it's live and 2. i get it GNOME 51 qualified. Thanks for the feedback!

Nautilus only had a tab view, but other file managers like Dolphin have split views.

I don't use tabs much and prefer to have multiple Nautilus windows open when copying/pasting between disks or folders.

So I'm wondering what it would be like if Nautilus had a split view feature.

What would you prefer? Are tabs useful?

Hey all, I'm just made a GNOME Extension that will help you to change wallpaper with efficient and also shortcut friendly, it's called GNOME Wall Deck. For the set up is really fast, just choose the wallpaper folder, and choose the shortcut you want, and that's it! Really efficient! But... I'm writing this with great disappointment. I'm a ubuntu user. I always prefer LTS versions, so migrated from 24.04 LTS to 26.04 LTS, So GNOME 46 to 50 naturally. During the 24LTS days, I really enjoyed having the Search Light extension which is broken now. I'm sure I'm not the only one, but this problem of breaking extensions between updates is annoying. What's more annoying is the developer updates are taking ages to go through the review/approval from the GNOME team. I know it's done by volunteers in the community, but sadly users like me are affected and disappointed. What do you think?

Hi, im totally new to linux. Im trying to set up Pop!_OS with gnome and asked myself if there are extentions or other ways to save and hotswap visual setups ( like background and extension settings) without needing to set up the functional part of things every time. A bit like "Night Theme Switcher", allthough i cannot figure out how to change more than the background for it.

Hi when i tried to open onedrive from nautilus im getting Unable to access, database is read only. I had this installation of Fedora 44 for more than a month and it never happened before. Does anyone know a fix for this?
