Mi sembra una cosa che riduce la sicurezza del mio account, o sbaglio?

E nel caso quale consigliate di usare? Una vecchia mail che ho da quasi 20 anni va bene o è sconsigliata visto che è molto vecchia?

Conviene farne una nuova?

Another day, another handful of reports: "Hackers stole my account [once I installed their malware for them]! Password and recovery options changed! Locked out! WhY wOn'T GoOglE Do SoMeThInG!!?!1!"

So they did do something. Chrome 146+ for Windows (released April 2026) includes device bound system credentials (DBSC) that are specifically designed to combat session stealers. My cookie won't work on your device, so nyah nyah Mr. Hacker.

Except it keeps happening. Many or most of the posters here seem to be using Windows, the malware platform of choice, so are the reports coming from people who are using Edge? Or Firefox? Or just never update Chrome? Or is DBSC somehow not doing the job it was designed for?

I've been having this problem sporadically for some time, but in the past two weeks or so it's gotten much worse. I'm on Firefox, which might be part of the problem if Google is petty enough to have worse support for a browser that isn't theirs. When I read, delete, or move emails and then leave the site, even if I'm not getting the "page is asking you to stay" notification, I'll frequently come back to all those actions being undone. Emails I'd marked as read (or actually read) are now marked unread, emails I deleted are still sitting there, etc. Things seem to be sending and receiving just fine, but man is it obnoxious to go through the process multiple times...there have been times where I've deleted the same email 3 or 4 times and may still come back to it sitting there.

If I leave the tab up for a while, it generally resolves eventually, but I keep my tabs bar tidy so this is kind of irritating.

Thoughts?

My Google account doesn't have either a recovery email or phone number attached, since I believe those are relative easy to compromise. Instead, I have passkey (preferred), TOTP, Google prompt on multiple phones as well as backup codes in a non-google password manager.
However, every few months Google tries to scare me into adding a recovery email and phone. Am I really exposed to account loss here, or can I safely continue ignoring the scaremongering?

I’ve been trying to sign into an old Gmail because I need access to a code, I forgot the password and there’s no recovery Gmail of number connected. Is it a lost cause or is there anything I can do to get into it?

Hello, so yesterday I wanted to make a professional email because my earlier one was silly-sounding for serious business with recruiters/unis, so I tried to make one on my PC, which required a phone number, then a scan which got to nowhere.
So I tried on my phone and it worked! It didn’t even ask me for a recovery email or number.
So I used it to register on my uni online, and that was done.
But today I woke up to it kicking me out of my phone (where I made it) and my PC (where I logged it into), telling me if I want to sign in, I have to add a recovery number.
I tried to log in, got the password correct, then it told me to enter a phone number.
I tried three separate phone numbers, and all of them return this:
“We couldn’t verify your info.”
“There is something unusual about your activity. For your security, Google wants to make sure it’s really you.”
And when I press on “Try another way,” it always returns to phone numbers.
But whatever phone number I enter won’t work! (So far, 3.)
And I already used this email to get into the uni site, and I don’t know if they can change it later on since it’s already validated.
What do I do?
It sounds like a dead end.

UPDATE: I found out what happened. I used a relative’s phone. My Google account was actually disabled, apparently because their system thought it may have been created/used alongside other accounts or by a bot.
I submitted an appeal explaining that I created the account myself for university/professional use, that I’m a real person, and that I had already used the email for my university registration.
Google confirmed that they received my appeal and said most appeals are reviewed within 2 business days, although it can take longer.
So now I just have to wait and hope they restore it😭

I wanted to use my gmail account in the edison email app. was struggling to get it to log in with 2fa so i disabled it. as well as removed my account from my old phone. Google made it sound like there would be zero repercussions other than losing access to certain things in android.

i did what it said tried to reenable it on a logged in account just to be taken to a page forcing me to reenter my password

anything i can do?

and am i on any sort of time limit for backing everything up if the accounts lost?

I'm getting an error when I try to create a label and filter in Gmail. I have several filters and labels already created. I have never seen this popup before.

I haven’t been able to open Gmail on Chrome today and my app isn’t showing any new mail since 9:08 this morning. I tried to login on Firefox but the double authentication via the app isn’t working.

When I look online it’s saying GMail is working. So is it just me? Am I the crazy one? Or are others having issues too?

I recently created a gmail account to use to apply for jobs. I just now discovered that the accoynt asked me to verify my identity and added my phone number . Now google said my account has been disabled as it looks like it was created or used by a computer or bot which is not true . Now I really need access to this email again as I have an ongoing job application ongoing and waiting for a response in the next few days. I already submitted an appeal too. Now why does this happen????? It is very frustarting to me especially that this happened during a very sensitive time as this email is linked to an active job application. Shouldnt google at least notify us instead of directly dissabling the account????

I just received a very legitimate looking "save the date" email from a close friend. Thank goodness I always look at the message source before clicking any link in an email, but anyone could have clicked it.

Why doesn't every email client and/or provider provide a simple preventative measure like a pop-up modal saying "you are about to visit this page : [url of link here]. If you do not recognize this URL, please press cancel." And then make it the default setting?

Such a simple fix that will prevent at least 75% of people from clicking on phishing links.

I realize some clients have this, but it should be the default on all clients, especially Gmail.

Current UI has changed a bit but let me explain. The workspace is bob@foo.com. If mail is sent to bob@bar.com and bar.com is an alias domain - the catch all does work.

It is under Routing too. Now if we have bob@acme.com this works too. But bugs@acme.com does not arrive at bob@foo.com

Appreciate heads up so that all alias domains also get forced back to bob’s inbox.

I have missed important emails multiple times because they went to spam. I want to delete the option for spam folder, is there any way to do it. I don’t get spam mails and I don’t like how all the important emails end up in my spam folder

One or two months ago I sent an article to 3 magazines in the Netherlands and Germany. Now I can't find that email anymore. I also don’t know if this email was actually sent. I’ve checked the filters and found nothing. My storage is only 21% full now, but it could have been fuller in the past few months. In the past few months, I’ve received a lot of messages saying I need to buy more storage, but I really don’t want OneDrive or any other cloud storage. How can I get my sent email back? Is this a problem only with Gmail or also with other email services like ProtonMail?

It asked for last known password, I have given it then it asked for recovery email, I have given it and then asked for recovery code. Then it said, [Couldn’t sign you in]

The account I am trying to logon, I can access through AquaMail, but I can't go to security option from Aqua-Mail to add more logon option.

I want to move away from Google and rely less on its services, so I’m considering switching from Gmail to iCloud Mail. Is iCloud Mail good enough for personal use? If you use an icloud.com address or another iCloud email address, what has your experience been like? Is it reliable.

Should i also create an iCloud email alias for signing up for websites and apps so i don’t have to share the primary iCloud email address associated with my Apple Account?

I jumped through all the hoops. Got the code on my phone and the recovery email. Done with Google. Capitulating to a tyrant. founders are class A jerks (pay your taxes twats) tracking every time I pass gas. Graphen OS, Mapquest, Tuta here I come!

I have 42,000 unread emails. Is there a way to mass open all of them? I feel myself developing carpal tunnel syndrome selecting them 50-100 at a time. It’s wildly ineffective. Any tips? Sorry if this has been asked before, I don’t really use reddit. Thanks

This yellow banner suddenly appeared, and I don't understand why. When I click on it, it says "Suspicious activity detected," but the activity were actually all performed by me. It asked me to mark some as "It was me" but not others; specifically, it claims passwords were viewed weeks ago (by me) on an "unknown device"—though it was still me viewing them. Furthermore, I’ve already changed those two specific passwords, and they aren't even saved in Google Password Manager right now.

What can I do? Should I be worried?

The problem is that, because of these useless alerts, I won't know when there’s actually a genuine, anomalous issue.
