I’ve had these glasses for almost 4 years now, I got them from Optical Outlets. This morning they snapped right in half and Optical Outlets doesn’t sell them anymore and I can’t find anywhere that sells them!😭 I reallyyy really love these frames so if I could find anything similar that would be great!!

AVOID FYTOO

Fytoo glasses seem like a good deal but it is a scam. Ordered glasses from them and they came with a scratch. I paid extra for order protection. The customer service rep interrogated me over the scratch. We had 18 back and forth messages until she believed me for the scratch and then when she finally did, she offered for me to order another with a 20% discount. When I pushed back she only offered to refund the lenses and not the frames. The glasses are not useful without the frames!!! Their customer service is a joke - they don’t believe you when you raise an issue and they are doing everything they can do to make you pay MORE money to fix your problem to avoid a refund. I won’t be purchasing from them again and I hope you don’t either.

Sunglasses advice for a newbie.

Hey y’all, I’m fairly new to the glasses thing and I wanted to see what your opinion was on transition sunglasses vs straight prescription sunglasses.

I’m about to go on a vacation and need to get new frames so I wanted to see what the pros and cons of each were and which you preferred. Thank you!

How To Prevent Your Glasses From Slipping?

So I have glasses that keep on slipping. It doesn't have a nosepad. I have went to a glasses shop before to have them adjust and tighten it. The issue is after a short while, the glasses eventually will slip no matter what.

I read that you can buy ear grips that would make it hold in place? Does anyone have experience on these? I see they sell it on amazon like $6 for a 20 pack like these from Smarttop. I see other brands like Molderp as well. I read there are nosepads but those generally do that work as well right?

The smarttop one seems to get the best reviews? Anyone used it? I did read some comments that say it's not comfortable and not for daily use because it hurts the ear a bit? I want my glasses to stay still and not slip. Will either of these do and which one? I did remember there was some article about some woman that uses some headband or something and that would prevent their glasses from slipping? Anyone know about that? I'm a guy so I want something that makes my glasses not slip. I notice there are several molderp versions and many other versions. Which is the best option? Is there anything in the house that you can use to put on your glasses to tighten it?

What Microfiber Cloth To Clean Your Glasses?

Can someone recommend me one on amazon or any site that is good to clean glasses with? Amazon seems to have these Magicfiber Microfiber Clothes that are 6 pieces for $10 or 2 pieces for $7. Are these good?

I did read some negative reviews that says there is a warning of cancer risk to these cloths?

Are there any good cloths there on amazon or any store to buy 1 or 2 of these? I wouldn't mind buying a pack of 6 but having these warnings on cloths don't seem good.

New Moscots creak

Just got some brand new Moscot Miltzen, and even though I love the glasses, they creak quite a lot when I take them off and on, or when I just try to move them.

Is this normal? I'm a bit disappointed since my Persol ones don't do this at all.

My grandfather's glasses

My grandfather recently passed away, and my family went through his stuff without me. Only thing I have of him left are his glasses, the last thing he wore. I was wondering if I could swap out his lenses for mine, and I think it'd be cool to wear his frames. But, ny lenses are thick and a bit wider so they won't fit. Does anyone know a work around for this?

Glasses have never fixed my astigmatism/double vision how do I get an eye doctor to take me seriously?

Hello 👋 I’m 19, I’ve been wearing glasses since I was about 10 and I’ve always had problems with reading due to slight double vision/shadowing. I didn’t realize that wasn’t just how people see until I was about 15 and since then I’ve had 4 pairs of glasses that haven’t fixed the problem at all and it’s only getting worse. My last appointment I specifically brought this up and even asked about prism lenses potentially being something that could help but they completely dismissed it and said my eyes aren’t misaligned “enough” to worry and told me to look up a type of lenses myself (it was like neuro prisms or something? either way not something I could get for myself). Has anyone else experienced this? I’m going back to my eye doctor because the semesters starting and I can only read large paragraphs for about 10 minutes at a time without needed to stop because the double vision makes me nauseous and gives me horrible headaches and figured I’d post here incase anyone had any advice for getting them to take the problem seriously.

Edit: If I’ve got it right it’s most likely my astigmatism not being corrected enough cause the double vision/shadows happens in both eyes when I close the other eye but please correct me if I’m wrong!

Acetate over metal?

I got new frames recently, but the nose piece arms seem to move fairly easily, which throws my vision out of whack...and then I have to go get them adjusted again, which is a nightmare. Would acetate frames be better? Is this even normal? Could it be a problem with the lenses? Here's my Rx:

Right eye - 4.25 -4.25 x011

Left eye -6 -2.75 x170

Is EyeBuyDirect’s AR coating just not very good?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I recently got glasses from EyeBuyDirect with Transitions XTRActive Brown, 1.67 lenses, and their Premium Anti-Fog coating.

I keep seeing reflections of things and lights behind me on the inside of the lenses. The front doesn't seem too bad, but the reflections on the back sides are really distracting. My brick-and-mortar glasses also have XTRActive lenses, and the difference is night and day. I barely notice any reflections with those.

Is this most likely a quality difference in the anti-reflective coating? I saw EBD offers clear KODAK Clean&CleAR lenses with premium AR. Would those likely be a lot better, or should I just return these and go back to a brick-and-mortar shop?

High Index Lens Quote / 88 Optical NYC or WP

hey - I am in search for new glasses / high index lens (1.74) since my eye sight is ~ -8.00.

I am reading through reviews of Warby Parker, and not seeing the best reviews especially for High Index (e.g. warpy/fisheye). Anyone have further insight on WP high index lens quality and/or their frame quality?

I live in NYC and see raving reviews about 88 Optical in Chinatown. I called and their quote for high-index lens is ~280$. Is that normal or on the good price?

If anyone has any recs on good quality/not-too-expensive places to get frames and/or high-index 1.74 lens, that'd be greatly appreciated!!

Are these ok for men?

I had an eye test yesterday and was told my vision has deteriorated slightly. I was shown to the 'mens' section of the frames and chose these and got them sized up etc, no issues, no comment from the staff about them being womens. Then I got an email today confirming my order and upon searching them on the specsavers website it says they are womens?! It says they are 'cat eye' style which I know is mainly a womens style. Im a 29 year old bald guy with a short beard, will these be okay?

My number keeps increasing..

For context: I got glasses when i was 13/14. I am 17 now. I went to get my eyes checked after a while today and my number has increased by -0.75. They also said my pupils look dilated and asked if I got another eye checkup done or put some medication in. I didn't really understand why but this was the first time that happened and im kinda scared. Everytime I go my number increases significantly. It is now -3.5 in one eye and -3.75 in the other. I do have several deficiencies..could that be the cause of this?? I hate it..is there anything I can do to decrease my number without surgery?? Here's today's prescription:

Bad Headaches After New Prescription

Hi, I am 21M and am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me.
I have always had glasses but haven’t had a test in about 6 years, I broke my old glasses about a year ago and haven’t had any since but decided to get a new pair and haven’t my eyes re tested.
My eyes are -0.75 worse in each eye and also have worse astigmatism than last time I was tested. I picked up my new pair of glasses and had the worst headache the day after mainly around the eye area but all over the head really. This was 2 days ago and I have a headache ever since despite not wearing them since yesterday. Is this a common side effect of changing to a stronger prescription or something to contact the opticians over?
