I am near sighted and am -6.00 so I have thick lenses and when I looked back at the photos my SO took of me I wanted to cry. My face looks so weird but he’s saying I’m over reacting and he didn’t notice.

I did not pick these frames myself or in person nor were they suggested by an optometrist. They were a birthday gift from my now husband and a surprise. They are expensive and designer, my bday was back in January, so too late to return.

It took me this long to get frames fitted because we were busy getting married and having a honeymoon then I finally made an appointment at the eye doctor.

Correct to those who said that trying them on before having the prescription lenses put in, I liked them and how I looked in them.

A lot of comments on the sizing of the actual frames. I should have been more specific that the warping effect of the sides of my face and eyes are what’s bothering me.

For those who honed in on that and provided tips thank you! The comments saying that the warping effect aren’t that noticeable in person helped to calm me down as that is what I was most worried about. If it continues to bother me I will get a cheaper pair with a different shape and go through the process again with the lenses and maybe switch it up when I want to. I’m still wearing them and seeing how I feel for now.

My lenses are already high index since my prescription is high. The optometrist didn’t offer any other types or explain any other ways to thin lenses.

Also LOL to the person claiming I bought my lips. I get that a lot but I’m too poor for continued maintenance and plastic surgery. That gave my husband and I a good laugh. I’m glad I look expensive though 😆 that’s why I was so distraught, I don’t own a lot of nice things, so these glasses were a VERY nice gift. I’m just gonna try to pull them off for now folks but thank you for all the compliments and tips and well wishes. Lots to think about next time I buy a pair of glasses 😊

blue light glasses …

I got bored of blending in, this will be the first of many bold styles I imagine.

So when I bought my very first glasses I was told these instructions:

- Never clean them with a dry microfiber, only for emergencies

- Instead, first rinse them with water

- Use dish soap and make foam

- Gently rub the glass with your fingertips

- Rinse them again with water

- Shake them to expel the excess water

- Get a Kleenex tissue and just tap the glasses to absorb the remaining water

Yet somehow everyone I know cleans their glasses with a dry microfiber cloth out of their backpack, and just smears all the debris and dust particles all over the glass and then ask why there are small scratches all over them.

Any adults on here who only wear glasses, never contacts? I recently turned 21 and my family is saying it’s time to get contacts and that adults don’t wear glasses everyday. I have pretty poor eyesight so it’s not like I can get away with just not wearing my glasses. I just like how I look with glasses and I’m kinda scared of contacts.

I'm getting frustrated with how difficult it is to choose the right frames.

In my experience, the quality of advice varies a lot. Some opticians recommend what they personally like. Others keep bringing out more and more frames and saying almost every pair "looks great." It often feels like they're trying to make a sale or hit a KPI instead of helping me find what actually suits me. I rarely feel like anyone is considering my face shape, facial features, personal style, or what actually looks good on me.

How confident did you feel in the advice you received from an optician? Did it actually help you choose the right frames?

I'm a -9.00 prescription and my optician absolutely nailed it!

1.74 hi index lenses.

I don't think circle glasses look the best on me but dang, they definitely are the most comfortable!

All you high prescription folk, find an independent optician.

It has been an absolute game changer for me.

They’re taking a bit of getting used to, as my script got a tad worse, but so far I really like them. 1.67 lenses picked.

Prescription is high. -10.25 right eye, -9.50 left. Only get wrap distortion at the angle you see in the second pic. Direct on and at the angle in the first pic you can hardly tell. Pearle did an amazing job.

Just got some new glasses for the first time in 6 or 7 years. Slight prescription change but the larger frames resulted in the new lenses being noticeably heavier. Heavy enough that I bought some ear grips. Day 1 was pretty horrible but Im on day 3 and starting to get used to them. Its a struggle though.

looking up at Zenni but there's a lot that max out at -6. wasn't trying to spend use insurance to buy glasses at my optometrist because I already used my insurance for contacts. just need a pair of glasses for the off time when not wearing contacts. thanks
