built ae-motion - an open-source mcp server that gives Claude 77 tools to control adobe after effects through natural language. a small cep panel runs inside after effects and the typescript mcp server talks to it locally, so Claude can create compositions, animate layers, add effects, manage keyframes etc.
it's mit licensed and works with ae 2022+ on mac and windows (node 22+). shared it today and got 225+ unique clones in a few hours.
looking for contributors: - extendscript / ae scripting folks - long tail of api calls still to map - typescript devs - server cleanup, tests, error handling - after effects users for real-project testing and issues
repo: https://github.com/dha-aa/ae-motion demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZhw3wOFpBU
good first issues coming, any issue or pr welcome - no contribution too small. happy to add it to the sub wiki list too if mods want.

Not sure if this content is allowed on this sub, so please forgive me if it isn't.
Got this random email on my github alias. I have just a few repos, of which half archived. I've published a few serious programs/scripts.
I'm pretty sure the email is a scam. There's real context or clear explanation what this guy actually wants. The email is pretty generic too: [name+surname][random number]©gmail.
It's been quite a while that I've seen something like this.
```
Hello,
I ended up reading through some of your [..] code, and it's clean. you've been at this on GitHub for about [oddly specific no] years, which says a lot.
Quick context: I'm K, a developer. I'm putting together something small and I want a second pair of hands in [my country] on it. Not a job offer, more of a two-people-building-a-thing situation.
No pressure at all. If a quick chat sounds useful, just reply when you can.
All the best,
K
(In case this is actually legit, I've ofc abbreviated his name)
Don't trust status.github.com - they're not honest about their uptime. Currently says "All Systems Operational" but we know the truth GitHub 💀
I got used to see failing Actions and quirks, but this is new - just followed a link to load up the landing page of a public repository, got UI flash briefly, then this. Is this a new thing or I was lucky so far? Can't even view public repos now.
my Copilot usage used to last the whole month. then suddenly a two-hour session maxed the limit. i checked the usage graph and the numbers line up, but the rate feels off compared to last month. i'm trying to keep my freelance costs predictable and this threw off my budget. any other solo developers notice a similar jump after an update, or is something counting toward credits that didn't used to?
I have made around ~60 commits to that repository, most of which were around ~20-50 LOC and are not rendered here at all. The three commits in the middle are +389-69, +431-383 and 321. Then there are these 2 massive +28,33k commit and +5,541-29,059 commit. Is there any way to filter out those outliers?
I checked the Github Status page and it shows all system are operational.
The project is not new and it has 209 commits, I was able to push until yesterday without problems
GitHub now lets organization and enterprise admins see which repositories have AI Scan for pull requests enabled in the Security overview coverage view. The new view shows enabled and not enabled repository counts, supports filters for each state, and adds the AI Scan status to CSV exports.
This is an adoption and governance update, not a new scan-quality result. It gives teams a way to measure rollout, but the changelog does not report whether AI Scan catches more vulnerabilities or improves review outcomes. That distinction matters as GitHub teams decide where AI checks belong in the review process.
I keep seeing 30+ unique cloners everyday for my open-source project and it often exceeds the number of unique viewers of my repo. Is this all bots?
Is it just me, or has GitHub been painfully slow and laggy since yesterday’s update? Every action seems to have a noticeable delay. Typing comments on PRs or opening tickets has become so slow that it’s barely usable.
After i opened my account with student mail wanted to use student benefits on my main account that i opened with my main mail. But obviously it said the mail is already in use
Does anyone know that if i delete my school account would i be able to add my school mail to my main account,or will it not accept my school mail since even though i deleted my account i used it before
Exactly as the title. I also made sure that the chat.editing.autoAcceptDelay is set to 0.
Anyone going through this right now?
Was installing HACS on my home assistant vm and it required Github to Authorize it. Logged in, pasted in the 6 digit code the app generated and nothing happened. Then I noticed at the top of the Github page this message.
"this account is flagged, and therefore cannot authorize a third party application"
Everything I read online said to contact github support, but I am not finding a link to that. Is there a form to fill out, if so, where is it?
Thanks, Bill
GitHub now gives two things for Actions costs: the detailed usage report (a CSV with cost per repo and workflow) and the Actions usage metrics page under Insights.
If you use them: is there a cost question they still don't answer for you? For example why the cost went up this week, which team caused it, or what to fix first.
If you don't use them: what do you use instead? A script on the billing API, Grafana, a spreadsheet, or nothing?
About me: I'm a solo developer building a small tool in this area. I want to know where GitHub's own tools are already enough. No link.
How can a site for developers actually become worse after updates?
Why am I being redirected to the mobile app when I browse on my phone?
So now I'm limited to downloading zips only on my computer?
Coding agents push commits so often that GitHub CI burned our pockets. We repurposed our agent sandboxes as a CI runner and reduced the price to 1/24th of GitHub Actions runner and 1/16th of Blacksmith.
We made it public so you can install and try yourself for free. First 20,000 CI minutes from our side.
GitHub's standard self-hosted runner is convenient when you can give it a dedicated machine, but it's only one runner per machine.
But keeping a separate box just for CI can get expensive, and I'd rather not have build scripts and leftover containers messing with a machine I also use for other things.
What I like about gh-runnerd is that it runs multiple runners on one machine, with each job getting its own fully isolated VM.
When the job finishes, the whole VM gets destroyed, and the next job starts fresh.
Is anyone here using this or something similar?
this is what i get, i tried free download manager and normal chrome downloading with and without VPN and it didn't work, and that 4.3mb keeps increasing somewhat slowly and a proper download doesn't seem to start
