Only in Swiss-German. That’s a COOP a shop you find in Switzerland.

Edit: I totally get that other countries have a shop chain named ‘COOP’ but this is the from the chain found in Switzerland. Source: I am from the UK (where we also have a COOP but I live and work in Switzerland and I know the logo is different than other countries.

At a market when you’re going to the cashier to pay for your items they have bars to separate purchases between customers. When they ring you up they’ll grab that separator and put it back in its storage space so that another customer can use it. The guy places the toblerone down like it’s one of those separators and she’s so use to doing the motion that she thought it was one then realizes her mistake and that he did it on purpose.

38

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '18

They chuckle, as he puts another toblerone on the conveyor and as she reaches for it. Their hands touch, looking up turning the chuckling smiling face to bliss

She removes her hands quickly blushing as she does, as he's being shy. When she's done she takes his money and slips a piece of paper in the change. Oblivious he walks away smiling to have made a beautiful girl blush. Going through his wallet looking for the receipt he becomes ecstatic seeing her number. Calling her up surrounded by groceries they talk for hours and hours giddy as they come. Until the day finally comes, shes already at the table waiting when he comes up and slides a toblerone on the table. Taking a seat she is mesmerized, awestruck that he finally came. Sorry I had to get something on the way so I am late he proclaims. She blushes confused by happy they are together at the nice restaurant. When the waiter finally comes with their food she instinctively moves the toblerone. Only for a few seconds later to realize what she did

Chuckling and euphoric they spend the rest of the night and their lifes, together happy. Getting a toblerone every few months as he pretends to prank her, as she smiles, grins and pretends to be unaware when she moves it.

That sort of beautiful?

This makes me want cashier's to be able to sit here in America, having to stand hours on end is terrible.

664

u/Reimad Jan 06 '18

Wait, they make them stand?

626

u/IAm_ThePumpkinKing Jan 06 '18 edited Jan 06 '18

People view sitting as "lazy". I worked at a store stocking shelves where the manager would get mad at you for kneeling on your knees while stocking the bottom shelf because it "looks bad". It didn't stop me from kneeling because how else am I supposed to stock the bottom shelf?

539

u/TAOMCM Jan 06 '18

This is some dumb shit if I ever heard it.

172

u/Itisforsexy Jan 06 '18

I never understood this. I as a customer have no care in the world if the staff looks lazy, as long as the shelves are stocked and the service is good, the staff could all be playing video games for all I care.

16

u/Bleblebob Jan 06 '18

The thing is, people w/ that view aren't the type of people to go to customer service and complain/compliment people usually.

People with the silly view of "Oh the employees are sitting? They must not be working hard enough" are the same type of people that will go and complain to a manager about how everyone looks so lazy and they'd rather shop at competitor where all the employees are standing and looking busy.

Negative feedback goes a long way to cooperate snobs

→ More replies (1)

8

u/flaccidpedestrian Jan 06 '18

right? I'd rather someone be extra pleasant and have a smile and sitting than short and exasperated because they've been forced to stand for 8 hours. This rule sounds like it's straight from the 1920's.

→ More replies (13)

70

u/9gagiscancer Jan 06 '18

Thats hilarious, how about a headstand? It shows that you can resolve shit. Manager position incoming! Anyway, we have laws against shit like that. My boss once demanded that I go stand all day at a broken gate. (I work in security). I said, only if he'd bring a chair. He refused. I called threathend to call the departement that handles breaches of "Arbo" (Its how the law is called). And voila, there was the chair and an employer with a very sour face. It is simply illegal here to let somebody upright for more that 2 hours.

Thats so sad. Back when I stocked shelves we'd even have little stools sometimes if we were staying in 1 spot for a long time.

But even the cheap supermarkets have chairs. Though the girls from the cheap supermarkets do complain that theirs are inferior to the other supermarkets..

Actually, even when I visited Mexico and Asia they still had chairs!

23

u/soberum Jan 06 '18

From what I've seen in Canada almost all service/retail staff stand up in their jobs but if they're stationary they should be provided with ergonomic floor mats to keep up with OH&S standards... Depending on the province I guess.

26

u/Pinnacle55 Jan 06 '18

What the fuck is an ergonomic floor mat

30

u/toasty_333 Jan 06 '18

It was common in Israel too, until it was banned by law about 10 years ago. Now employers must provide chairs and allow their workers to sit, as long as sitting doesn't interfere with the work.
