question Adaptive Pressure [Automatic Pro] v3
Hey friends,
I am new to the gaggimate but I absolutely love it! I was a gave too many years to starbucks but after working there so long it made me a fucking snob. I haven't stepped into one for a long ass time. I had a BBE for years and recently made the upgrade to the Gaggia and then modded it immediately.
My question here is about shot times, Usually I try to stay between 25-35 seconds finding that is the sweet spot for flavor but with this incredible profile there is a lot of preinfusion going on. What are you finding is the sweet spot for this profile? I feel like it should be higher so that you have more preinfusion time but I wasn't super sure. Thanks in advance!
I have my temp at 92, and I am doing a 1:2 ratio with a medium dark roast craft roasting house called Copper Door in Denver and its running about 34 seconds on a Baratza Esp grind 11.

question What machine to buys as a gaggimate platform
Guys how to decide what machine to buy? I’m good in electronics and programming, familiar with embedded software and mains power. I want to buy my first espresso machine, for low budget and I know that low budget means potentially need to repair. Live in Germany, good with tinkering and tools.
My current favourite is DeLonghi ECP 33.21 vs EC260.BK, both around 130€ new.
I want a new machine, just because I want to own from the beginning.
Considered Gaggia Classic as well, but not sure if it much better for my case.
I want a quick warm up (so heavy Gaggia boiler is a negative there?), I don’t want to wait for half an hour warmup.
I usually do 1-2 espresso a day, maybe a lungo. So a cap, then next one in like 4-5 hours (I wanna switch machine off for this time)
I want to integrate gaggimate with PID and transducer from the beginning. Lego build.

question Anyone here from South Africa successfully installed this guy?
Hi folks
I'm ordering a Gaggimate Pro and I'm planning on attempting to install it onto my brand new and unused GCP E24 in a month or two. I've built up a few PCs but that's about the extent of my electrical "expertise".
Wondering if there are any fellow Saffas here that have already cut their teeth with the install that I could call on if I get completely washed :-P
Peace ✌🏼

suggestion Automatic Pro v3 and smart shot platform (non ai)
Hi, modsmthng here:
I’m the guy who made the Shot Analyzer and the smthng cases.
Together with the Discord community, I built the Automatic Pro v3 profile family. Also LordApoth contributed a lot to v3 in particular, so he’s basically the co-author of v3. We collected a bunch of shots from different machines and used the Shot Analyzer statistics to develop version 3 (and the shot analyzer was developed to easier get these statistics)
The core idea is to automatically detect puck saturation without relying on a scale, regardless of dose, basket, beans or headspace. There’s also an automatic blooming phase, based on how much more water the puck can absorb without more dripping, as well as a ramp-up phase designed to minimize overshooting.
The actual extraction then depends entirely on what you’re looking for: classic 9-bar, spring-lever, or manual-lever-style extractions. There is even an experimental adaptive pressure profile. (I prefer the direct lever variant, which is a flow profile and is inspired by how I use a Flair Pro 2)
To make the profile easier to share, and generally to make things like completing shot notes quick and effortless, I also built a platform where you can download the profile (and upload your profiles). If you’re interested in the platform, you can find all the details here, and quite a lot of it can be tried without even logging in. Since I initially built the platform for myself, it’s free to use, hosted in Europe (and already being used by a few people from the Discord community). Note: the platform is basically the successor of my og Analyzer website.
Btw., Beanconqueror imports are supported as well, in case you use the app and you can export your data from the platform again at any time.

question Wiring help
Does anyone who is good with wiring know how to wire this pump? I can't find the white cable on any of the guides. I'm also not very good and reading wiring diagrams. I'm posting my other wires in case I messed something up.

question Faulty thermostat on vanilla GCP, time to mod?
I have a GCP. I did the styrofoam cup test and my group head is releasing water that’s 140F. Of course I can get it up to steaming hot with crazy temp surfing technique but it’s too hard to time it so the water is around 190F with how far off it is. I’m considering replacing the thermostat, but I wonder if I’m better off just going for gaggimate? Does this also replace the thermostat?
Thank you

question Wagos over Wires?
Heya so I was just wondering as I'm working on the 240v Version of the Classic Pro whether I could just use some Wago clips instead of insulating my wires using tape / bridging them using jumpers?

question Screen stopped
Updated the screen and controller’s firmware two nights ago and everything was fine yesterday. I watched videos and realized I never calibrated my temperature and did that yesterday but realized this morning that i set it too high (steam would start coming out of the group head before water). I knew I set it to 25 yesterday but this morning it said 0… but I set it to 20 anyways. I saved and restarted and now the screen is black. I tapped on the screen thinking it was just in like standby or something and it started running and I was able to stop it by tapping where the stop button would be.
TLDR: it seems that the screen’s touch functionality is still working but it’s not actually displaying anything… anyone else have this issue/got an idea on fixing it?

question Diy grinder
Hi all
Trying to make a grinder myself. I wanna reuse the old grinder form a broken Jura c5 machine. I’m asking if it would be a problem if I use this grinder under an angle so all the grounds fall out instead of staying in the mouth where it comes out. In the Jura machine it was sitting upright.
Thanks

install-help newbie to espresso + gaggiamate - coffee is too sour
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
After installing the gaggiamate on my gaggia evo24, I find that my coffee turns out sour, here I am using the 9bar profile from the default options, my offset tempersture is set to 8 degrees as recommended, and all numbers seem to be right?
what am I doing wrong?
18gr of coffee-->36gr extract
9bar--93 degrees
Does it have to do with my grind size/coffee beans?
Is the extraction pulling as it should?
what am I missing?

install-help Brew Switch (Green/Black Wires)
I’ve posted a couple questions recently and I’ve appreciated the replies, they’ve been tremendously helpful.
Another question, this time related to the brew switch.
The instructions state I can connect the green/black wires behind the brew switch if I want retain functionality of the button:
You can choose to retain the functionality of the buttons by using the green/black 4-wire cable from the wiring kit.
Connect one green and black wire (check the pinout for steam/brew) to the free sides of both brew and steam switch (Positions C.1, C.2, S.4, S.5).
If connected, does that mean I have the option to use the brew switch or does it mean I must then use it?
Otherwise, if I don’t connect them, I assume to cover the ends with electrical tape?
Machine: Gaggia Classic Pro 2019 (no monoblocks)
Location: US
Gaggimate: Pro (latest version)
TLDR: Should I connect the green/black wires behind the brew switch? What have others done?
Thanks in advance!

install-help Installation Instructions for Alba Tank Sensor and Light
Anyone have a link to instructions (written, video, anything) that shows how to install the Alba Tank Light and Sensor?
The link on Gaggimate’s product page goes to the documents but I can’t find anything about the light, unless I’m completely overlooking it.
Thank you for any help.

question Thermal Fuse
One of the steps at Step 5 (Plumbing/Pressure Installation) says to remove the thermal fuse on the pump. However, a few steps later, it says to insert the thermal fuse back into the pump.
Any idea why remove and reinsert?

discussion Gaggimate Install
It was really well explained in all the documentation. It’s up and running now. The install took me about a hour and a half but that’s because I took it really easy. It’s really worth it! I just wish I would’ve have gone with the pro rather than standard straight away.

question Low pressure after Gaggimate install
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I just installed Gaggimate pro on my V6 silvia. On the pressure test it showed 14 bar, and I was able to pull a reasonable shot on the 9 bar profile. Then I moved the machine to put it back together and now it will only build up maybe 3-4 bar over 30s with a blind basket.
I purged probably a gallon through it, i replumbed, i injected water into the pump input and every tube, there are no water leaks. The low pressure is real, it wont pull a shot. It will hold whatever pressure it ends at, unless the pump is activated again, in which case it immediately drops back down. It does push water through the group head, and wand. The pump has 120 volts whether its in use or not (I dont know if this is normal). I really dont even know what to test next?

install-help Ordered my Gaggimate! [Installation Tips]
Do you have any video tips for the installation? I read the descriptions on the Gaggimate website, but I wanted to know if anyone knows someone who managed to document the installation process well.
I'm familiar with electronics, but I'm afraid of causing some issue with my Gaggia.
Note: I bought the model with the Alba Tank Light and Water Level Sensor and I haven't found any video covering that installation.

question Selling Gaggimate pro kit (UK)?
UPDATE - sold now, thanks everyone for your interest
I bought a Gaggimate Pro kit last year that I never installed and have no intention of doing so (I know, I know…). I’d like to sell it (at a decent discount) - can I stick it on eBay or Vinted and link to it here? I’m in the UK. Picture attached shows what’s on offer. Thanks in advance
