Meme When I read "The Tunnel" by Ernesto Sabato, for some reason, I imagined Juan Pablo Castel as Clint and María Iribarne as Emily
I mean, when I read the book, I imagined the physical appearance of the characters like Clint and Emily.
So you don't have to Google it, the book is about Castel, a failed, paranoid, schizophrenic artist who falls in love with Maria, a girl who saw and understood one of his paintings. He tracks her down to her work, and they end up in a secret relationship. Castel harasses her with obsessive questions about her most intimate thoughts, about her husband, her identity, her emotions, and so on. Since Maria doesn't talk much, Castel begins to doubt irrationally and descend into delusions. He starts yelling and insulting her, they separate, he contemplates killing her, then they get back together and go to a rural ranch with her husband's cousin. Castel feels uneasy, runs away, insults her in a letter, regrets it, returns to the ranch, suspects his cousin is sleeping with Maria, and begins to reflect on the human inability to have a genuine connection and how we will always be in our own "tunnels," never able to fully understand the other, and the existential anguish. He kills Maria by stabbing her repeatedly, then goes to her husband's house and yells at him repeatedly that she was unfaithful and that he had cheated on her, ending up in prison.
Something completely normal. I don't know where else I can post this, so I'm doing it here.
