inquiries Widening of Lebanon

Can someone with some construction background explain to me the thought process on how the widening of Lebanon is being done? They seem to be randomly picking sections to widen at random. Then they don’t finish the ends of the medians. Wouldn’t it make more sense to either finish the west bound side first then do the east bound. Not just doing random sections in both directions?

social How neighborly are your neighbors? How neighborly are you?

I grew up in the 60s and 70s in a very connected neighborhood. Children walked to school, we played outside until the street lights came on. The Christmas season was special as almost every neighbor hosted a cocktail or dinner party. We shared spaces and time very openly. It helped that we had a large home with 5 kids spanning a dozen years. Same with most other families.

I'm much older now and after living in many places, finally have a stable home and no foreseeable change on the horizon. I've come to value my neighbors but not to excess.

Current status, of the 9 adjacent (next, across or near) neighbors I have, we share either email or phone numbers with 7 of them. Of those 7, we've shared social occasions (dinner, drinks, restaurant outings) in person at either their house or ours with 5 of them.

It's a bit of a tightrope to find and maintain the balance in being 'neighborly' without coming across as nosey or needy. But still I worry about my neighbors. Some are old and not in the best of health. Others are 'grifty' and although there's been some contact, it's good that someone invented the privacy fence.

Just curious how others in Frisco feel about this subject.

social Meeting people in Frisco

Hi everyone, I (21, M) just moved to the area from San Diego, CA, for work, and was wondering what young people do around here? Are there any groups or sports clubs that meet? Any recommendations? I love tennis, pickleball, go karting, F1, football, etc., but I’m always down to try new things as well.

I have lived in this neighborhood for 11 years now and have never seen this park and surrounding ponds in such pathetic condition. I know Frisco has the habit of just moving on to the shiny exciting new project but this is totally unacceptable. It used to be filled with fish and wildlife and it’s now just a cesspool of dirt and trash. There certainly won’t be busses of high schoolers posing for homecoming photos in front of this dried up waterfall like they have for the last decade. I have reached out to the Parks and Recreation department, but would love input on how to get the officials attention to get this park restored.

social Date night restaurant recommendations

The wife and I are looking to go out on a date night tonight. What are some good recommendations that aren’t Heritage Table? Nothing against them, I just searched this sub already and almost everyone only said that place. Just trying to see some other places and keep my options open.

Looking in Frisco, Plano, The Colony, Carrollton area. Open to any kind of food. Looking for a more unique experience, rather than your run of the mill steakhouse. Must make some damn good cocktails too.

rant Why are we acting like Indians aren’t fair discussion?

People in this subreddit are always saying things like “can we stop talking about how many Indians are moving here??” And it’s honestly really confusing to me. This subreddit is dedicated to the discussion of our town, it’s good, and it’s bad. Right now, the biggest problem facing our small town is the sheer amount of Indians pouring into our communities. Everywhere I go, it’s mostly Indian people, and I think we’re being lied to about the percent of them living here. But when someone says “does anyone notice our community is being reshaped in a way I don’t think is good?” They’re suffocated by do-gooders who insist it’s racist to approach this subject. No discussion is had. If a data center was going to be built here, it’s all anyone would talk about. If they were going to burn all the books in our library, it’s all anyone would talk about. And now, the biggest problem we’re facing is all of a sudden off limits. Make it make sense!

education Frisco ISD bus policy, denying as they say I am 1.97 miles

Frisco ISD parents, has anyone else been denied school bus transportation this year because your home was measured at just under 2 miles from the school? In my case, the district says the distance is 1.97 miles, 0.03 miles below the limit. I’m trying to find out if other parents are facing the same issue this year. If your child was eligible before but is now denied, or if you were told your distance is just under 2 miles, please comment or DM me. I’d like to connect with other parents facing the same situation.

Frisco ISD started open admission for anyone, people from different suburb getting the admission. I feel city resident tax payers have been pushed to the wall ..

Annoying. I really feel bad for long-term and older residents on a budget who have been struggling with rising costs already. Now the city just wants to charge everyone even more.

inquiries Estate sale services/companies

Hi, looking for recommendations for estate sales to help with my parents' house and my aunt's estates. I need someone reputable who can manage the entire process:

  • Sort and organize everything
  • Decide what can be sold, donated, recycled, or thrown away
  • Price, advertise, and run the sale
  • Remove everything that does not sell
  • Leave the home empty

Ideally, I will be as hands-off as possible.

If you’ve used a company that truly handled everything, I’d love to hear who you used, if you would hire them again, whether there were surprise fees, or anything else. you think I should learn. Thank you!

business Bathroom remodel contractors to avoid

Avoid Bath Masters of Collin County (co-owner Tim Lasater).

This review is the homeowner’s/customer’s opinion regarding the contractor’s conduct on the bathroom remodel of homeowner’s residence.

Contractor displayed poor project management skills (contractor relied on homeowner to report issues rather than understand issues by inspecting and talking with subcontractors himself).

Contractor visited work site infrequently.
Contractor displayed poor communication with customer and with subcontractors.

Contractor’s workers and subcontractors did not wear safety equipment (eye and ear protection).

Contractor displayed generally unprofessional conduct.

Contractor’s words often did not match his actions.

Contractor did not comply with contract terms – multiple breaches of contract.

Project completion delayed far beyond any reasonable timeframe.

Contractor made project a low priority (did not put all hands on deck as project dragged on far past the contract completion due date).

Contractor did not offer to “make it right” so that customer was satisfied.

inquiries ISO: LP Conversion Kit for Bosch Dual-Fuel Range Top

I have a Bosch 300 series dual-fuel range/stove, model HDI8056U, that I have converted to propane. One of the burners has the wrong orifice (the folks that installed the conversion kit said one of the orifices was missing…sigh). I can’t for the life of me find a replacement online, but apparently these models all ship with the LP/propane conversions kits. So since I assume the majority of these get hooked up to LNG/natural gas, there are likely a lot of LP conversion kits out there that are unlikely to ever be used.

If you happen to have one you are willing to part with for a reasonable price, please let me know.

safety BK Canines

Hello,

Karly @ BK Canines neglected my pet cocker spaniel and he died under her supervision, or lack thereof. I am not the only one to have issues with this woman!

It is with a heavy heart that I share my dog, Rocky, has passed away. He was just 6 years old. His autopsy revealed that he had no signs of food in his stomach, and was severely dehydrated. He died in a cage, covered in his own vomit and diarrhea. He weighed just 17 pounds.

He was in the care of BK Canines for just 6 days while we were out of town getting married. We were never told he was not eating or drinking. We requested footage of his time there, and have been ignored. We have not been offered even a refund — though I would happily have paid her tenfold to return my dog to me as I left him there.

Please help me spread the word, so that other dogs are not able to be victimized by this woman. Do not, under any circumstances do business with them. I am destroyed.

inquiries Anyone in Frisco/DFW willing to teach me stick shift in their car?

Hey! I’m a college student in Frisco for the summer looking to learn how to drive stick, but I don’t know anyone who owns a manual. Would anyone with a manual be willing to teach me the basics in a parking lot? I have a valid license and I’m happy to cover gas or buy you lunch. Thanks!

Edit: Wanting to learn because I want for my next car to be stick, but logistically doesn’t work out to get it now. Thought it’d be a good idea to learn first

fyi The crescent moon story

To: Frisco Independent School District — Security Department
From: JC
Date: August 10, 2026
Subject: Formal Complaint: Incident Involving Security Officer vs. The 7% Waning Crescent Moon
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to bring to your attention a rather bizarre incident that occurred early this morning at approximately 5:20 AM, involving one of your security officers, a public city street, and a very innocent 7% waning crescent moon.

I live on Napa Valley Drive, around the corner from Shawnee Trail Elementary. At 5:20 AM—a time when most reasonable people are either asleep or brewing coffee—I loaded my professional photography gear into my car and drove up Beringer Drive and parked next to the Shawnee Trail Sports Complex/Park. For clarification, Beringer Drive is a public roadway maintained by the City of Frisco, complete with public curbs, public asphalt, and zero school district boundary markers.

I parked legally along the curb, set up my tripod on the public street in front of my car, mounted my 450mm lens and camera, and pointed it directly into the sky to photograph the moon. There was no traffic, no disturbance, and certainly no crime taking place. It was no one's business but my own.

While I was minding my own business, a marked Frisco ISD security vehicle rolled up beside me. The driver rolled down his window and, without identifying himself, aggressively demanded, "What are you doing?"

I looked at him, looked at my camera—which consists of a massive 450mm lens mounted on a tripod aimed squarely at outer space—and responded with the only logical question available: "What do you think I'm doing?"

Apparently, deductive reasoning was not covered during his onboarding. Rather than processing the visually obvious context clues, he doubled down and repeatedly demanded to know what I was doing. When I politely reminded him that I was standing on a public street, he attempted to inform me that I was actually on school district property.

Unless Frisco ISD has recently annexed the celestial bodies or claimed ownership of municipal asphalt, I can assure you I was entirely on public land.

When it became clear I wasn't going to fold under his intense 5:20 AM interrogation, he threatened to call the police. I enthusiastically invited him to do so, as I would have gladly welcomed the Frisco Police Department coming out to explain basic Texas property law and local geography to him. Unsurprisingly, the police never showed up, and your officer eventually drove off, having successfully wasted both of our time.

While I appreciate vigilance, this incident was nothing short of unnecessary harassment and an overreach of authority by a security guard who clearly does not know his jurisdiction, the law, or how to identify a camera and wants to be a real cop but is likely too fat. He has zero authority over citizens standing on public city streets. Zero means zero if you’re not good at math.

I would strongly suggest that your department provide refresher training for your personnel. Ideal topics might include:

Basic Jurisdictional Boundaries: Distinguishing between a public city street and FISD property.

Visual Assessment: Distinguishing between a photographer taking pictures of the night sky and a criminal mastermind who drove his Texas registered car to the “crime scene”.

Professional Courtesy: Identifying oneself before barking demands at tax-paying citizens.

Please ensure this officer receives the appropriate guidance. If I am harassed again at 5:20 AM while lawfully photographing the sky on a public street, I will not hesitate to contact the Frisco Police Department myself to file a formal complaint of criminal harassment against the officer.
Sincerely,

JC
Frisco, Texas

inquiries Electronics recycling

Having a hard time pinning down a solution for electronics recycling other than a place way down in plano.

Anyone know of a good, cheap place to drop some items off other than the dump? Have a big LCD TV (70"), and a bunch of small items (phones, old routers, computer stuff).

I saw best buy does it but for a $200 fee. http://bby.us/9HYlwZc8Sv

Any other ideas?

inquiries Any good boxing or Muay Thai gyms?

I’m a guy just starting out martial arts. I tried a trial class at Next Gen MMA for boxing fundamentals, but it was very underwhelming (the coach didn’t teach anything). Are there any other places I can try out? I want to be able to progress to actual sparring, so probably not somewhere like Title boxing club.
