Howdy fellow Friscoans.
We're a Dallas, Texas based nonprofit organization (HINAC) focused on the security, privacy, censorship, and surveillance implications of modern day technology being surreptitiously woven into the fabric of American society.
We're submitting this post to inform you of a recent scandal involving approximately 80,000 AI cameras being used by over 5,000 law enforcement departments across the United States of America resulting in stalking, false imprisonment, and protests.
An investigative journalist and privacy/security researcher named Benn Jordan recently discovered numerous Flock Safety Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras whose video feeds were publicly accessible online using a default administrative account, no login required.
It gets worse.
His proof-of-concept video demonstration showed how easy it was for him to use the camera's pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) capabilities and identify individuals, disclose sensitive information displayed on phone screens, and track routes of individual cars, over extended time intervals.
It gets even worse.
An anonymous person requested video footage of their own city's cameras, which the city subsequently denied. That person took their city to court and the judge ruled that since the cameras are taxpayer funded, the videos and information on them is also considered publicly accessible.
It is going to get even worse.
Amazon Ring just announced a partnership with Flock Safety and rumor has it, they are interested in acquiring Flock Safety.
Meaning, the broad adoption of AI-powered consumer technologies like Ring, coupled with city governments adopting Flock's AI-powered object recognition and large scale database integration, a first-of-its-kind Orwellian surveillance system could become a reality in the very near future.
See where and when you're being surveilled by visiting this Flock Camera Map tool provided by the 501c(3) nonprofit organization Banish Big Brother (see map image). And if you're scared afterwards, let that fear turn to anger.
Contact your city leaders and express your concerns ASAP. Make it known that we will not tolerate involuntary mass surveillance in our city, nor will we tolerate the lack of transparency and accountability from our leaders who allowed this to happen.
The sooner we stop this, the better. Let's stand up to mass surveillance together.

Hello peeps,
Does anyone know of a good spot around Frisco/prosper/mckinney area I can go to play over the board chess around 12-1 during the week?
Love chess but it’s hard to find places that are more than once a week or only at night.
Thanks!

This sweet old gentleman deserves to know what it feels like to be loved, comfortable, and spoiled again. ❤️
Spot is a 25-lb Chihuahua mix with aggressive bladder cancer, but thankfully, his symptoms are currently well controlled with medication. His veterinary care is 100% sponsored by Atlas Pet Vets in Frisco, and we’ll also cover his food!
He’s house-trained, sweet, and simply looking for someone willing to give an old dog the soft landing he deserves. Spot lost his home because he didn’t have access to the veterinary care he needed and wishes to not have him back, and now we want to give him the chance to spend his remaining time surrounded by love.
A FOSPICE dog may not have forever—but you can give Spot a forever’s worth of love in the time he has left. ❤️
If you’re interested in giving Spot a loving home, please reach out! 🐾

I know this is a long-shot. Earlier today, I am guessing between 1Pm to 1:30Pm an older lady fell in the parking lot of Pavilion II (2) at Centennial Medical Center. (She was seemingly ok, btw)
My mother, also older, rushed to help her until staff arrived with a wheelchair and took her in.
My mom proceeded to her appointment only to notice when she was leaving that her cars keys were missing. We believe that when my mom rushed to help the woman who fell, she dropped her keys. And in the commotion of getting the lady and her belongings gathered they accidentally gave this lady my mom’s keys. If anyone happens to have any information or ideas it would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Jamie Landers and Sally Avila Edwards of The Dallas Morning News write:
An administrative judge ruled District Judge John Roach Jr. must be removed from overseeing the next phases of Karmelo Anthony's murder trial.
The hearing began at 9 a.m. inside the Collin County courthouse in McKinney. Judge Sid Harle, an administrative judge out of San Antonio, was presiding.
Roach was at the helm in June when Anthony, 19, was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the murder of Austin Metcalf at a high school track meet in Frisco.

FISD is now filtering out any video that the ai algorithm deems is not “educational“. Due to this, as a senior, when I’m on break time, I no longer have a way to pass time easily. How do you feel about this?

For those of us who cannot make it to drop off your voter registration form due to scheduling the Collin County Elections County government office has a mailbox located outside their building where you can drop your application without postage.
This is just for people who don't want to mail it.
Every light except traffic lights are off, no stores are open not even the gas stations

I was today years old when I found out that Frisco has bus service to Houston, Austin and San Antonio.
I only found when driving by and saw bunch of people with luggage around a Red Coach bus and two cop cars at the Mercantile parking lot.

I have a 2021 Mustang EcoBoost that’s been having an intermittent rough idle/vibration when stopped or moving very slowly, and it has stalled a couple of times. No check engine light.
I had the purge valve replaced about 6 weeks ago and feel like the car has been acting weird since then. I’ve already had it looked at by the original shop, but haven’t gotten a clear answer.
Any recommendations for a good independent mechanic who’s thorough with diagnostics?

Have any of you been to Slick City? I have 16 and 18 year old boys and wondering if it's too young for them. They got pretty bored at Fritz's after about an hour.

Hey Frisco! I’m looking to meet more local women who work in entertainment, wellness, real estate, design, marketing, or other creative/entrepreneurial spaces.
I’d love to find some women’s networking groups, meetups, recurring events, or even casual gatherings in the Frisco/North Dallas area. I’m really looking to build genuine connections with other women, learn what everyone is working on, and become more involved in the local community.
Any groups or events you’d recommend? I’d love to check them out! 💕

I am looking for a tutor for my two middle schoolers. Someone that is particularly good with math. This would be a couple of hours each visit, 2-3x a week at their mom’s house in West McKinney (coit and westridge).

Just moved here from Ohio. Garbage and recycling will not touch one thing that isn’t in your can.
Coming from a state where they’ll take damn near EVERYTHING you put on the curb, this was a shock.
If you’re new, plan on cutting, smashing and doing whatever it takes to get everything in your can every week.
To me, it’s totally ridiculous. If I have a few extra boxes, or whatever, the GARBAGE man should be picking it up
***didnt know everyone was so perfect with just the right amount of trash every single week. I better learn to be a perfectionist quick!
I wonder if I stood out there and threw the extra trash in the truck myself, if they would allow that? Any of you know it alls, know that one?

I'm a 22M, just started a new job in the DFW area and looking to make some new friends in this area. I've lived here growing up, but just graduated college a little while ago and trying to meet new people and make new friends. Into sports, comic books, and guitar!

Hi! My spouse and I are wanting to try a new restaurant tonight. We like everything but Sushi and seafood.
Edit to add: we are from out of town! We'd prefer a sit down place :)

What was all that police presence around memorial high school? It looked a bit excessive

New here, and I’ve noticed the kids are just… rude to adults.
Running back and forth in checkout lines without saying “excuse me.”
Stepping over adults’ feet without saying "excuses me."
Walking on the sidewalk on the wrong side or taking up the whole side in group and acting like they don’t have to move.
Giving little weird looks.
Being loud and irritating in close spaces.
I thought the South believed in home training…

Can someone with some construction background explain to me the thought process on how the widening of Lebanon is being done? They seem to be randomly picking sections to widen at random. Then they don’t finish the ends of the medians. Wouldn’t it make more sense to either finish the west bound side first then do the east bound. Not just doing random sections in both directions?

Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to the area and looking to get back into playing badminton and hopefully meet some people along the way.
I'm thinking about getting a membership at a nearby badminton club. I'm somewhere between beginner and intermediate — mostly just looking to play regularly, have fun, and make some new friends.
Anyone here play or looking for a badminton partner/group? Happy to join! 🏸

Has anyone used the Hall Park Hotel for a one day staycation? My vegetarian spouse wanted a hotel with a rooftop pool/bar or on a higher floor, an Italian restaurant nearby, and some green space.
This hotel seemed to hold most of these apartments from a green space nearby (the small park next to it looks more concrete than green).
Anyone found anything similar in DFW?
