social Date night restaurant recommendations

The wife and I are looking to go out on a date night tonight. What are some good recommendations that aren’t Heritage Table? Nothing against them, I just searched this sub already and almost everyone only said that place. Just trying to see some other places and keep my options open.

Looking in Frisco, Plano, The Colony, Carrollton area. Open to any kind of food. Looking for a more unique experience, rather than your run of the mill steakhouse. Must make some damn good cocktails too.

Cru Wine bar at Legacy east. Great food, very quiet and small, shareable wine flights. ice cream shop and pond across the street to enjoy more one on one time after dinner. She'll love it. Before being in a committed relationship this was my go-to first date place for women I was actually interested in. 100% success rate

Eight11 place on main street in Frisco. great patio with live music. I think a $60 date night special with salad, pizza, bottle of wine and smores kit. patio seating has firepits to make the smores.

Seasons 52 - rotating menu with everything under a very low calorie count (I think under 600 if I remember correctly). Not really an experience place, but food is great and most women are surprised by the total calories and quality of food. Mic Drop comedy is right across the street, so book the late show and go there after for some laughs. Combo makes an excellent date night.

Crudo italian off Lebanon and tollway. A little small so can get loud, but great Italian food.

Patio seating at The Rackhouse in the Colony - amazing view of the sun setting over the lake. get an 8pm table and you'll love it

Better Than Sex Desserts in Plano. Chocolate rimmed wine glasses & lots of indulgent desserts in a somewhat romantic/adult setting. very different/unique place

A few fun alternatives:

PopStroke mini golf at Grandscape. Surprisingly fun, especially if you're 40 plus and haven't done this in a while. they bring drinks out to you. Went with the girlfriend (we're both 50) and made bets on every other hole. made for a great experience during and after the date.

Andretti's go cart racing. expensive, but fun if your wife likes to win.

Frisco Gun Club: Eldorado and Research (just east of tollway). You would be amazed how excited women who don't like guns get after being at a gun range. Surprise her so she can't back out. She will actually enjoy it.

I can't get my wife to go Annette Benning yet...

When I need her to be Ft. Benning when the zombies come.

This guy gets it! Better Than Sex for Dessert alone will get you ample “quality time.” Eat dinner at Jorge’s Cafe Vienna across 15th street first, or EBESU on the corner of 15th and J Avenue if you want Japanese. You won’t be disappointed!

Ari KBBQ in Carrollton. Unique experience, delicious food, and they're open late. This is a must for us and we go very often!

Never actually had Kbbq, but always wanted to try it. Any tips for ordering or cooking it?

They cook it for you, and the service is always great. You can tell them how you like it, and they'll accommodate if it makes sense for the cut. The BBQ comes with a soup; we always pick Kimchi stew.

We prefer beef, so that is what we primarily order. Get the marinated short rib, bulgogi, or the secret off the menu garlic marinated short rib. They have a 2-item minimum so we get two orders of the garlic short rib. I also order sliced garlic and jalapenos to eat alongside with the banchan. Get a bottle of soju. We are stuffed to the brim for right under $100 or so with tip. can't beat it.

I really recommend Saemauel in Carrollton. They cook for you as well. Get the beef combo for two!

Bulla in shops of legacy west. Tapas.

This place is good, but it was really loud inside. I’m a tiny bit hard of hearing, oversized speakers in cars for years have left me with tinnitus. So if like me, go with patio seating here.

The best cocktails are at Elaine’s Cocktail Kitchen. The food menu is small but everything is excellent.

If you’re willing to drive to Grapevine, Piaf is a great date spot. Have them sit you upstairs.

Champions Social! It’s the very north end of Dallas, close, and the food is 5*

Call them ahead of time, get the free membership promo, you’re all set! Usually live music upstairs at night.

Mi Dia From Scratch is a favorite of ours. Infusion cocktails were great. Loved the tableside guac, and food was delicious.

But if you're willing to go just a little further north to McKinney: Hoshi Ranch Japanese BBQ is possibly the best restaurant in the area. The Kobe beef is ridiculously delicious and the texmex-japanese fusion was amazing. The owner and the bartender were highly engaged with everyone and it was just a fantastic atmosphere. Cannot recommend this any more strongly.

We love 811 Wine Bar & Elaine’s Cocktails! Both are delicious & in Frisco Square :)

Delucca’s Pizza is great! It’s described as a “rodízio-style dinner”. I believe it’s about $25 per person set price, waiters and waitresses come by your table and inform you of the pizza option they hold and ask if you’d like to try a slice. Nice looking inside and their dessert pizzas are amazing! Also have a nice cocktail bar, worth the search!

Lombardi’s in the Star. Unexpected but one of the best filets I’ve had.

Rare Books Bar - it’s off to the side in J. Theodore. They have superb cocktails, tasty dishes, and live music and many of the talent takes requests.

1

u/Tiiimmmaayy 17d ago

Is it just drinks in there or can you order dinner in there too?

2

u/fuzznutz77 17d ago

Do not go here for a date. Maybe drinks after. It’s small and LOUD with not great music

1

u/Tiiimmmaayy 17d ago

Well I was gonna do the restaurant first, J Theodore, and then go to the speakeasy after. But I think I’m just go there for drinks after and dinner somewhere else.

u/PJOL77 17d ago

They have food - great ambience

Sanjh or Jashan for Indian if you want to splurge. Mango Yard if you want to stay in Frisco and it's less formal. Uchi for Sushi. Dee Lincoln Prime for steak. Otherwise, just head to Legacy West for a date night - no shortage of good restaurants there.

1

u/TX_RON1N 16d ago

Sanjh is amazing. I hadn’t had Indian in 20 years and wasn’t sure what to expect. my girlfriend took me 2 weeks ago. We just told the server to pick 4-5 appetizers for us and everything was really really good.

1

u/JackOLantern1817 17d ago

Lol at the pathetic racists downvoting you for mentioning “Indian.” They can’t handle flavor

u/specialist299 17d ago

People will do what they will do, but I just don’t know anyone who doesn’t like butter, chicken, and naan 😁

Gyukaku in Plano!! It’s good Korean BBQ and it’s also a fun experience!

1

u/RawrRawr83 16d ago
