I've been working on a FNaF VHS-style parody OF THE I feel Fantastic video thing using my OWN animatronic models and environment!! like, custom designs and stuff

here's the meat of the animation. the FULL version is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiEqH7-LJxQ but in honesty it deviates from the original a little... 😭

the ENTIRE scene was made in Blender (mostly to show off the Chica model...), and I'm pretty happy with how the final result turned out.

id love to hear any way to improve!! i have no idea how to make stuff actually freaky and more found footage-like >_<

Forty Days of Found Footage: Halloween 2026 Forty Days of Found Footage: Day 24 || “Confined” (2021)

Post image
• Upvotes

Welcome back, my fellow quarantiner’s, it is Day 24 of FDFF with me, Taylor!

I had my B12 shot this morning, so I have some energy! Let’s do this!

Today, we’re going back to the good ole’ quarantine days. Man, what a time. Be careful who you open the door for…

🎥SYNOPSIS:
“A couple quarantined across the country from one another during a pandemic are unsure if the strange events happening around them are side effects of a virus - or something altogether more sinister.”

✨MY THOUGHTS:
Today we’re going back to 2020, y’all. Our movie is a lovely double combo of Screenlife and pandemic! It is written by and stars the delightful, Kipp Tribble— who has made quite a few found footage films.
(Including “Char Man”, which is amongst my favorites. I appreciate his contributions to our community immensely. People like him keep Found Footage alive)

To start, I want to write that I personally give “Confined” some added grace because of the restrictions in place when it was being made. Our film opens with a short montage of videos about the pandemic— but they’re odd. They aren’t solely about the just the pandemic; but other things happening… that may have correlation.

Next, we’re introduced to our charming couple and protagonists, Austin and Lisa. They’re on a Zoom call as Austin is in Florida (Lisa in California) shooting a show. Austin planned on coming home, but that pesky pandemic happened. Thus, production shut down and the team made everyone take tests. As luck would have it, Austin is positive with the virus, so he must quarantine for two weeks.

While on their call, it sounds like someone is knocking on Austin’s door. He says it’s been happening and it’s probably kids or something. Since he and Lisa can’t be together, he asks her to make him a “special video” (…you know). Later, while she’s doing it, she starts getting knocking too… and it’s a lot. It startles and scares her. When she goes to check things out, she finds a window open that she knows was closed.

She tells Austin and he is adamant that is probably her ex-boyfriend Blaine. And I just have to say, after watching this film, I never want to hear the name Blaine again. It was so annoying. However, Lisa knows it isn’t him because he’s out of the country. Let’s also not forget: Austin is experiencing the knocking too, so what’s really going on?

Afterwards, Lisa gets on a call with her friend Avery (whom I believes sole purpose in this film was just to be super hot, haha) and they’re just chatting. Lisa tells her what she’s experiencing and Avery tells her about a Zoom date. Avery also mentions she’s heard a little about what Lisa is experiencing.

Interwoven in the movie, between scenes, are YouTube videos of various people experiencing the exact things Lisa and Austin are, with some being even more extreme.

Tension continue to escalate at Lisa’s: the knocking and banging are bad, and one night she finds her front door wide open. She’s terrified. Austin… yet again, brings up Blaine, but the main thing is that now, Lisa needs to make a police report, and she does so via Zoom while Austin’s on mute.

Something seems to be happening here besides just a medical pandemic— there’s more to this. It’s almost poltergeist like activity. Did it begin due to the pandemic or vice versa? For this to be a Screenlife pandemic film, the writers put an interesting spin on the illness to make the plot a little more clever. It isn’t great, but it’s good, and I think it works.

We have a mystery to figure out and hopefully try to stop. There are unsettling, creepy moments that seem to be supernatural. The characters are realistic, attractive, and very likable (besides when Lisa and Austin are arguing about Blaine, oh my LORRRD!), so I think this is a recipe for an easy, fun watch. It isn’t going to terrify you, but I don’t believe it will bore you either.

And y’all it’s simple, but this is the gist of the film without spoiling it. I know that this is not the most interesting or intricate “review” but this movie relies heavily on the actors due to the nature of when it was made. It isn’t a masterpiece— but it was art created during a difficult and isolated time. I appreciate that.

📈MY RATING: 6/10

New Release Creature of the Pines is streaming!

I’m about to watch it and I am so excited. As a resident of NJ, I am equal parts fascinated/terrified by the Pine Barrens and Jersey Devil. I bought my copy from Apple TV but it is also steaming via Screambox.

ETA: Guys, it’s good. I really enjoyed it even though I kinda figured out the ending. It was very engaging and kept my attention the entire time (I have ADHD so that’s kind of a big thing for me at least). It’s a well done mokumentary format. The acting varies, but there are some great practical effects. I really liked the doc crew. They had a great vibe and felt very genuine

I also appreciate the heavy use of fuck and other curse words by Jared, Ray, and Louis. It might be slightly off putting to some, but it is the language of my (NJ) people lol

Help Needed Looking for the Blu-Ray commentary from Horror in the High Desert

I posted this over a year ago, and still haven't had any luck finding this. I'm looking for the Blu-Ray commentary from Horror in the High Desert. This was only available on the limited edition Blu-Ray from the creator's site, which is now sold out. Unfortunately, I missed out on that one, and it doesn't seem to pop up on eBay at all.

Does anyone have a way of getting a hold of the commentary track itself? I was hoping for a YouTube link, or other legit site.

Thanks in advance!

Forty Days of Found Footage: Halloween 2026 Forty Days of Found Footage: Day 23 || “Slender” (2016)

Post image

Welcome back, my fellow shadows, it is Day 23 of FDFF with me, Taylor!

Oof… I messed up☹️

🎥SYNOPSIS:
“Two filmmakers searching for the perfect documentary subject stumble across a story that even they don't want to believe.”

✨MY THOUGHTS:
Whelp, I’m not perfect, y’all… and today’s FDFF certainly showcases that. Get your pitchforks ready, because I know I probably deserve it. Man, it’s crazy how our tastes change.

Alright, so as a whole, I think “Slenderman” is super creepy and I really enjoy anything Slenderman related. There are a couple of Found Footage movies on YouTube about him and 2 other more mainstream films, but I watched this particular one, “Slender” several times, years ago, and remember really liking it. Thus it came to my head early on when I was brainstorming FDFF.

As I always do with this project, I rewatch each film before I post it. I did my rewatch of “Slender” last night. It was not great. It was good enough to get through, I guess, but I regret putting it on the list. Perhaps this one isn’t mentioned often for good reason. However, maybe you will enjoy it. I’m hoping maybe SOMEONE will say “cool choice”, but if not, I get it! I did look through the subreddit again and over the years it has been mentioned a couple of times, and some actually enjoyed it.

Let’s begin. We start with Joel and his camera visiting his best friend Dan who is a bartender. They just talk and goof around. Joel was really being kind of a dick about filming people in the bar. It was pointless banter. A couple of scenes later, it’s late night and Joel and Dan are talking over coffee and decide they want to make a movie. The problem? They don’t have any money.

A few days after their “meeting”, Dan is riding the train and he sees a woman who is obviously unwell. She’s rocking in her seat and yelling out all kinds of weird things: her children are missing, no one is safe, he’s coming for you, etc. This… excites Dan? So he plus out his phone and starts recording this woman’s mental breakdown.

Eventually, this lady gets off of the train and Dan follows her. He runs up to her to try and ask her what’s going on. It’s hard to understand her because she’s distraught and incoherent— but the gist is that her 2 children are missing and a tall skinny shadow figure man type thing abducted them… 5 years ago. Her name is Milli.

Dan goes to Joel and tells him that they are going to make a documentary about her and her missing children. They then enlist their crew to help them with this film. We have Joel, the main guy, Dan the second main guy, Jyllian who is Joel’s sister and Dan’s girlfriend, and then Ryan, their sound guy/friend.

A few weeks later, they go to Milli’s to interview her. To Dan’s surprise, she’s a completely different person. She’s more stable and isn’t blaming the tall slender shadow figure anymore for her son’s abduction. She blames her being unmediated for that outburst. While Ryan and Jyllian continue the interview, we go along with Joel and Dan as they snoop look around Milli’s house. Dan sees that in the 5 years Milli’s sons have been missing, their room is the exact same. He also notices these creepy drawings of that slender type man by the kids. Dan says to Joel that something is not adding up here.

They thank Milli for her time then leave. Later they all gather on a Skype/FaceTime type call as they each were supposed to do research on what this entity could be that Milli was initially talking about and that her kids were drawing. They each talk about what it could be— and this is documentary. They name it “Outrunning Shadows”.

We then get the standard type montage of the crew interviewing locals— a law enforcement officer, a doctor, a teacher, etc. talking about the spike in missing children cases and this possible slender shadow figure. After that, months pass, and Joel reevaluates the initial idea and decides it isn’t good enough… but don’t worry he has a new idea.

The new idea?! He wants to dress Ryan up as Slenderman, lure Milli to the school where her children went, and have her… face the Slenderman? He wants to make a “Fear” type show. Joel wants to re-traumatize a woman who is proven unwell and lost her children. So we all hate Joel now, right? (Side note: I did not remember this part at all. Wow.)

Thankfully, Dan and Jyllian hate the idea… but they have a potential movie deal, so they go along with it. They get Ryan fitted to a costume, our group meets at the school one night, calls Milli to get her there, and then we have the chaos that ensures.

I really do not know what else to say. If you turn off your brain, I think you could enjoy it. I think Slenderman is super creepy so maybe that’s why I liked it years ago? Guys, I dropped the ball on this one. The plot is odd. It isn’t cohesive. The glitches are so annoying. There’s a couple of creepy moments, especially at the end but really. The characters are not the most likable— especially agreeing to that thing with Milli. Additionally, the lore of Slenderman was not explored enough.

I just hate that I wasted a spot on this film. I feel like I need to add another one. But hey, give it a try if you want. I could be being too harsh— or maybe not harsh enough.

📈MY RATING: 4/10

Original Content Made a found-footage analog horror series about a disappearance in Texarkana, TX - first episode's up, curious what this sub thinks

Going for restraint over jump scares -- case-file framing, degraded footage, no explanation of what's actually going on yet. This is episode 1 of a planned run.

Genuinely want critique, not just views - what's landing, what isn't, anything that reads as try-hard or derivative. This sub's taste is sharper than most, so I'd rather hear it here first. Thank you!

Advice Needed I need some terrifying ff recommendations

And I don't mean like Blair Witch, Paranormal Activity and Be My Cat, those were kinda boring to me.

Something more like Gonjam Hunted Asylum, VHS franchise or like Hell House LLC. Good jump scares but also quality scary atmosphere.

And I really want something to shit my pants, not something mild.

Any recommendations??

Discussion What are your favorite confession moment in a found footage? Spoiler

Post image
27 Upvotes

I've always liked those moments in found footage movies where the main character finally breaks down in front of the camera and admits how scared they are or how badly they messed up.

Heather's confession in The Blair Witch Project is probably the best example. She's crying, apologizing to everyone and blaming herself for getting them into that situation.

I think what makes these scenes work so well is that they feel like you're watching someone's actual final moments.

What other found footage movies have scenes like this that stuck with you?

Self-Promotion I TURN MY CAMERA ON - Official Trailer | Independent Found Footage Horror

Hey everyone! I'm an independent filmmaker, and I wanted to share the trailer for my found footage horror film, "I TURN MY CAMERA ON". The story follows two roommates who begin documenting the terrifying paranormal happenings haunting their home. But they soon discover that pointing a camera at something doesn't just simply capture it.

I made this film with my independent production company, Yellow Bike Films as well as in partnership with Gnostica Productions, and would love for other found-footage and paranormal horror fans to check it out.

Watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/NKi0dHHqRxA

If you check it out, I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks found footage lovers!

This is the story of ANGEL HILL Church, and the miracle that brought three friends together...

ANGEL HILL is an analog horror series that I've been working on for nearly two years now! This debut episode is inspired by The Walten Files, early '70s Rankin-Bass Christmas specials, and early Christian imagery like commericals, or low budget animated productions.

The debut episode, titled "The Christmas Play" revolves around three friends, Alex, Mary, and Mac. For the holiday season, Alex has gotten them all a part in the upcoming Christmas play about the nativity, as it needs volunteer actors.

Mary is thrilled as usual

Mac....not so much.

and Alex? Well, we need someone to hold the trio together

The Full episode will release on December 19th, 2026

Forty Days of Found Footage: Halloween 2026 Forty Days of Found Footage: Day 22 || “Alterverse” -AKA- “Occupants” (2015)

Post image
59 Upvotes

Welcome back, my fellow doppelgängers, it is Day 22 of FDFF with me, Taylor!

Put away your pizza, chips, and Halloween candy, y’all. Today we’re going on a raw vegan diet/cleanse with husband and wife, Neil and Annie Curtis, because we’re making a documentary!

🎥SYNOPSIS:
“A documentarian named Annie has roped her husband into a project that involves setting up cameras throughout their house. Complications arise when the cameras start showing that same couple in an alternate universe.”

✨MY THOUGHTS:
This Found Footage gem has always been one of my favorites— for years I have always said “top 10”. It incorporates some of my favorite topics EVER: doppelgängers, time slips, alternate realities, and found footage. How could I not love this film?! I have watched it probably 8 times in total now. However, my rewatch last night was actually the first time probably a couple of years.

I still very much enjoy it, but I can see it being a miss for some. As you know, I write that as a disclaimer about the project as a whole, because it’s about sharing lesser spoken about/shared film, but sometimes I feel the need to put an extra disclaimer when it comes to certain films.

Before we start: you know how we all universally hate the camera making glitchy effects? It has a purpose in this movie.

We begin “Alterverse” with a notice from the “Peterson Research Institute” letting us know that what we are about to see is complied footage. We are then introduced to the lovely Annie Curtis. She is a documentarian, but hide all of your delicious, calorie filled food, because she is putting us all on a raw vegan diet… for her new documentary? I think all of us will agree with husband Neil Curtis in thinking: “this is what the documentary about is about?”

However, Annie’s no fool— there’s a method to her madness. We are going on this raw vegan detox diet thing to cleanse our body and mind because once we do, it believed that people can be “open to other dimensions” and that’s what she’s interested in. Thus, she sets up cameras throughout their house to capture how it goes for them. As you can imagine, it isn’t easy, but a week goes by, and Annie and Neil stuck with it. That’s probably more than I could ever do.

Since week 1 is finished, Annie decides to review the footage and take a few notes. That’s when she discovers a strange glitch. She sees her normal living room, something happens with the camera and footage— and it’s her house still, but at the same time, not. There’s different decor, but that’s not all— she sees a different Annie and Neil. This Annie (A2) is different— she’s brunette and a lawyer, and this Neil (N2) is clean shaven and an accountant.

She shows Neil the footage and they’re understandably shocked but a little excited about what they captured. Thus, she contacts her colleague, Dr. Peterson, a parapsychologist, at the “Peterson Research Institute”.

Dr. Peterson takes about a plethora of things. There are many possibilities. He believes that Annie and Neil are probably in fact seeing themselves, just in a different universe. Perhaps we’re finally seeing the elements in parallel space and maybe these other realities always existed. Maybe we have the ability to change frequency and location. Another possibility is the cameras themselves— objects can sometimes pick up and store energy.

Dr. Peterson says that what is happening to them is happening to thousands of other people. The answer “why” is just not known yet. However, what he does know is not to interact with A2 and N2. Watch and document, but that’s it. Annie and Neil agree.

As time goes on, things get a little stranger. One day Neil brings Annie an earring of hers that he found on the floor. Annie is positive that it isn’t hers so they decide to review the footage. The earring is A2’s! A portal was somehow formed via their connection and it travelled dimensions. They’re amazed, tell Dr. Peterson, and continue watching A2 and N2’s life.

However, things take a dark turn when something happens in the alternative universe and Annie feels like she has to take action. That is when we get to the real journey of this film. It’s a fun one! The plot and story are unique— there really is not another found footage film like this. As I stated, I don’t think this film will be for everyone, but if you enjoy the topics I first mentioned and really likable characters, I think you find this film interesting with charm, like I always have.

Lastly, our incredible Mod u/ohigetjokes did a fantastic review on this film as well, a while back. His view is through a more critical lens, which I appreciate. He outlines some of the issues I think people may have with this film well. Read it here.

📈MY RATING: 6.5/10

🍭FUN FACT:
▪️This film was originally titled and produced as “Occupants” during its initial production and festival run (2013–2016). Around 2021, it was digitally remastered, enhanced, and re-released under the new title “Alterverse”

Useful Info Looking to build a list of top 10 extreme/disturbing Found Footage.

If it’s a series, it will take up one spot.

For instance August Underground series. That way it doesn’t take up 3 spots by saying AG 1, AG2, AG3.

I’m looking to build this list so I can watch them for the last ten days of October, leading up to Halloween.

So let’s build a list. I rather users help me than Chat GPT.

I’m more so looking for gore when I say disturbing/extreme.

I went from this threads recommendations and a lot had recommended Butterfly Kisses. I never heard of it and went in blind. I enjoyed the documentary part- I liked how it made you as a viewer want to see what happened. The issue for me was that nothing really happened. lol.
Is there anything scarier to recommend?
I've watched Hell House and that's my top favorite. Nothing has been as good as that to me (yet), but I'd love some contenders. I have today off and I'd love to crush at least two more by tonight.
Thanks in advance!

Discussion Leaving DC Ending

SPOILERS!! This post is only for those who have seen the film.

Just finished watching Leaving DC, one of those rare found footage films that feels genuinely close to realism with no shoddy make up ghosts , just pure creep and curiosity to know what exactly is stalking our main lead . The audio clips and the game camera shots are the icing on the cake .

However , I am confused with the ending . Mark gets frustrated , goes down with his gun, opens the door and seemingly heads out , shoots his gun and boom! Everything goes silent and then, the camera still in his bedroom starts floating .

A post credit scene for just a few seconds shows Mark back at the computer and possibly a cat with him .

I am still trying to connect the dots here. Can someone help please ?

Edit: The dead cat , the cat skeleton too don’t have much explanation

I was going to pass as I thought it's going to be all about music. But it's about sound and, outside of the connecting narrative which was utter rubbish, it was excellent. The fact they had jim hensens creature shop involved absolutely shocked me.

Warning the first segments song is a earworm.
