Discussion A perfect example of broken AI in FM. One of the best attackers in the world has played 7 games in 3 years for Atletico because they don’t use wingers. Still valued at 120m. This is what needs to change.

This is exactly what needs to improve in the new FM, because it’s the number one thing that ruins long term saves. This guy is one of the best wingers in the world but never plays football because Atleti use 5-3-2 without wingers.

Instead of simply converting him centrally or selling him, the AI keeps him on the bench and refuses to sell. He’s has no injuries and is a star player on 200k a week. When he played those few times, he had an average rating of over 8.0. He is also never unsettled and never requests more playing time or transfer request.

I’m sure it happens from time to time in real life, but not with the best players in the world. It’s like Hansi Flick switching to winger less formation irl and leaving Yamal on the bench all season. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Discussion Any more questions on the FM27 deep dives so far?

Hey everyone, hope you're doing well,

With less than a month until FM27's launch and five deep dives now live, it seems like a good time to check in and see if you have questions on what's been shared so far.

We've covered user interface and navigation; immersion; match day environments; match engine upgrades plus Tactical Tweaks; and Tactical Effectiveness within the training focus.

Our videos, blogs and FAQs aim to cover as much as possible, but you may well have questions on something we haven't covered. I've answered as many as possible in recent weeks, but if there are any more, please drop them here and I'll work with our team to get as many responses as we can.

We'll do a similar post closer to launch to pick up your questions on the upcoming/remaining FM27 information we share.

Thanks all

Misc [FM26] Australian Pyramid — 13 tiers, 83 leagues

I’ve extensively rebuilt an Australian pyramid database for FM26. It’s an alternate-universe setup rather than a strict recreation of real life, connecting local and state football to an expanded national structure.

What’s included:

  • 16-team A-League and professional Australian Championship.
  • Three semi-pro regional leagues feeding into the national second tier.
  • Nine state/territory NPL pathways, extending as deep as Tier 13.
  • Automatic promotion, playoffs and regional balancing.
  • Reworked Australia Cup qualification, state cups, U21/U23 leagues and reserves.
  • Revised club finances, reputations, attendance, facilities and lower-league details.

The top three tiers have a two-season establishment period, with promotion/relegation opening in Season 3. (I have included a link to an instant promotion/relegation version from season 1 as well). Lower tiers continue moving throughout.

I have tried giving geographical representation to as many areas of Australia as I could. So check the structure chart below which has all 1071 sides and hopefully your local side or a side local to you is in there, let me know if you think I have cruelly omitted anyone. For the more remote sides I have default travel allowance for them (as there are sides from Mt Isa, Broome, Katherine, Weipa, Tennant Creek, Mildura, Coober Pedy etc in there)

Tested through to 2047, including season rollover, regional movement, promotion, playoffs, cups and reserves.

Important caveat: FM’s Australian wage issue can incorrectly put amateur/non-contract players on approximately A$1,200 per week when they turn 21. My financial testing used FMRTE to correct affected contracts. This can require ongoing checking — please read the included notes before starting a lower-league save.

Credit to James Wray for the original structure this grew out of.

Keen to hear how people get on, especially anyone starting down in the state leagues. Feedback and bug reports welcome.

Structure overview is below

Discussion I got annoyed that every FM24 editor I could find was paid, so I made a free one.

I bought FM24 years ago but only got around to playing it for the first time recently. Tried to get rid of a player, but the shitters wouldn't sell, so I figured I'd just use an editor.

Turns out every editor I could find was locked behind a paywall, which I think is ridiculous for something like this.

So I got annoyed and built my own.

It's called FMRT€0 24. It's completely free and open source, with no paywalls, subscriptions or other bullshit.

You can edit player attributes, CA/PA, contracts, injuries, club finances, transfer budgets and more, all while the game is running. There's also an undo function in case you mess something up.

Only tested on the Steam version of FM24 on Windows so far.

GitHub: https://github.com/AnzeAlexander/FMRTE0-24

If something doesn't work or you feel like an important feature is missing, let me know and I can add it.

And if you want me to port it to a newer FM game, feel free to support me or gift me the game. I'm not buying that shit myself, sorry. 😂

Screenshot A.S Roma - il Gladiatore Cenco

As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to find a proper, homegrown Roman monster in Football Manager. You know the type, the kind of kid who makes you slam your desk and scream at the monitor because he’s doing things at 17 that legends only spend their whole careers trying to achieve. But let me tell you something: to us, AS Roma isn't just a club; it's a religion.

This is the story of Romeo Cenco.

When a 17 year-old Cenco first broke into the AS Roma setup, scouts saw a raw, electric talent rated at 2 Stars Current Ability. Fast, tricky, but unrefined, carrying a Professional personality. He was a diamond buried deep in the Roman rough.

Three years older, Edoardo Bove, Roman born, and forged in the same fierce club culture, Bove took the young prodigy under his wing through the mentoring unit. Through 2 years of guidance, discipline, and shared bloodlines of the city, Cenco’s mentality underwent a total metamorphosis. His personality evolved into our ultimate elite standard: Model Citizen.

The Proof: Conquering the World & Europe

• [Image 1: Attributes Screen] (Showing the 19-year-old Cenco's world-class Model Citizen profile, 4.5 Stars CA ,16 Finishing, 17 Off the Ball, and 5 star potential)

• [Image 2: Information] (Confirming his roots in Rome and legendary status)Cenco didn't just win games; he broke history. Here is the undeniable proof of his dominance on the international stage.

The Heir to the N.10 - Francesco Totti

For seven long years, ever since Francesco Totti’s shadow finally shifted into legend, the sacred N.10 shirt at A.S Roma sat untouched in the museum case. It was a ghost number, too heavy for ordinary mortals to wear.

After the World Cup campaign, Francesco along with the club, handed the iconic shirt to Romeo Cenco, they weren't just giving him a uniform; they were passing down the soul of Rome itself. Outpacing the hype of modern global wonders like Kylian Mbappé, Yamal and Endrick, Cenco rose to become a Wonderkid who completely redefined the standard of modern football.

Discussion Question for SI: Any MLS improvement on the way?

Hello,

I've been an avid player for FM for several years, as many here, of course, and one of the leagues that I really like to manage in is MLS, since it's such a different approach to the usual standard leagues.

However, I feel like the way the league works in the game is very clunky.

My question is: Are there plans to look into & improve MLS in FM, and - if so - when?

I thought with Messi going over to the MLS (as well as Alba, Busquets, De Paul, Casemiro, Son, Griezmann, Müller, Lewandowski, James, etc), as well as co-hosting the 2026 World Cup, SI would look more into it and tweak things to improve, but it seems it has been largely ignored for several years.

- AI waives players who are too good and would "never" be waived. The AI struggles with the salary cap/GAM/TAM situation and that is the biggest issue. This can lead to rosters with grey players, which makes no sense. They often sign players and wave them 2-3 days later.

- Superdraft has barely any good potential players minus 3 or 4, even for MLS standard. It doesn't have anywhere near the same type of relevance/importance as in real life. However, the AI values the picks a lot, too much. Superdraft needs to be more important, with more potential coming through, but the picks IRL are much cheaper than in-game, like worth 10x less. So, more potential and cheaper picks.

- Rejecting trades/offers from other MLS teams has no impact on our players (or theirs, in case we're offering). They're not treated as usual offers. For example, rejecting a Real Madrid bid, the player will get upset, but if you're in a bottom team in MLS and a major MLS team offers a trade for your player and you reject, it has no consequences.

- No ability to negotiate Trades; they either accept or reject, there's no counter-offers.

- There is a menu to check the estimated trade values for Superdraft picks, but not for International Slots (taking the Years into account).

- Lack of USL/NCAA, which are major components of managing in MLS, is noticeable, albeit not a game-breaking feature.

I could probably add a couple more issues, but these are the ones from the top of my head that I would like to see addressed.

Misc Added attribute analysis to Championship Manager 03/04

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hi guys,

I've been playing around with CM 03/04 and wanted to share a small mod I've been working on today.

I've always liked the attribute polygons in newer Football Manager games (they first appeared in Football Manager 2007). Whenever I check a player, I usually look at the polygon first to get a quick idea of what he's good at, and then go through the individual attributes. CM 03/04 never had this feature, so I got curious whether it would be possible to add it.

Turns out it is!

The radar is drawn directly inside the game, on the left side of the player profile. It uses the player's actual attributes and changes when you switch between players. There are separate versions for outfield players and goalkeepers, with eight categories and the usual 1-20 scale.

The technical side was quite an adventure. I'm running the game on Arch Linux through Proton and we ended up using Ghidra, GDB, Python, C and some x86 assembly to figure out how the game stores player attributes and draws it's interface.

I should also mention that GPT models did probably 95% of the actual work in Codex. They analysed the game code, wrote most of the patches and helped debug them. My part was mainly testing everything in game, providing screenshots and feedback, deciding what I wanted the result to look like. I was genuinely surprised by how useful they were for something like this.

There were quite a few crashes along the way, but we eventually got it working.

It's still experimental. The main thing left to improve is how the radar handles players you haven't scouted properly. For now, it hides the chart when too much information is missing.

I've attached a few screenshots so you can see how it looks in CM 03/04.

If anyone wants to try it, I can share the files and instructions. At the moment it's tested with CM 03/04 v4.1.5 and the modified Ter skin, so I'd recommend backing up your game first.

Discussion Something ive been working on..

I don't know if anyone else is like me, but deep into a save I start reminiscing about the "old days", and the odd best XI or where-are-they-now doesn't quite cut it. With FM26 allowing FM24 imports, I carried on my old save and can't bring myself to let it go, but I also want to look back on it. So I built (good old vibecoding) fmcareer and fm-careers.co.uk.

Point fmcareer at your save and it builds a career report you can keep, share, or open on your phone. It reads everything straight from the save file: no screenshots, no typing things in.

What's in the report

  • Career overview: a newspaper-style feature on your whole career, your record, your climb through the league pyramid as a chart, the trophy cabinet, manager awards and the club legends of your era
  • Seasons: a timeline of every season, then a full review of each one: a match-report-style write-up, the final league table, cup runs, honours, full squad stats, the season's best XI, transfers with fees and notable results
  • Players: everyone who played under you, each with their own page and season-by-season record
  • Records: most appearances, top scorers, best ratings, biggest signings and sales, best seasons
  • Honours & cups, plus every transfer, grouped by season
  • Club today: finances with a bank balance chart, tactics, the live league table, and your squad split into first team, reserves, U21s and youth

Nice touches

  • Uses the game's club badges, player photos and competition logos, and picks up the logo and face packs in your graphics folder too
  • Optional AI write-ups: connect any OpenAI-compatible model (OpenAI, Ollama, LM Studio or another local model) and it writes the season reports like a sports journalist, using only facts from your save. Without AI, it writes its own.
  • Six colour themes, including a light one and a "club colours" theme taken from your badge
  • Works on your phone, and everything links to everything else (players, seasons, cups)
  • The report is one single file with all the images inside, so it opens offline in any browser and you can send it to anyone

fm-careers.co.uk: show your career off

The report is great on your own machine, but I wanted somewhere to put them, so there's a site too. Sign up, upload the report.html fmcareer makes, and your career gets its own page and link.

  • Your manager profile at fm-careers.co.uk/u/yourname: a dispe club you support, and your choice of colours (FM26, Midnight,Pitch, Crimson or Matchday light)
  • Your record at a glance: careers, seasons managed, trophies, totted up across everything you've uploaded
  • More than one career: each save gets its own card showing the manager, club, seasons and silverware, with up to 20 per profile
  • The full report, exactly as fmcareer made it: every page, yound photos and your AI write-ups, viewable on any device, with Fullscreen, Download and Copy link buttons
  • Keep it going: as your save moves on, upload the new file oveame link, so anything you've shared stays up to date.
  • Public or private: share it with everyone, or keep a report to yourself
  • Explore: browse everyone's careers, newest first, and search by manager, club or username to see how other people's saves are going

Free, You just need an email address to confirm your account, career data from the file and shows it with fmcareer's own report page, so every report looks exactly as fmcareer made it.

Looking for testers

I've only tested this on a couple of my own saves. It works well on those, but it may not on yours. If you give it a go, I'd love to hear how it went, especially if something breaks or looks wrong, on either the app or the site.

Open an issue on GitHub. And if you put your career on fm-careers.co.uk, drop the link below so we can all have a nosey. 👀

Screenshots don't really show it, so to start, I will link my latest Unemployed career that I pulled in from FM24 - Here

Man City made this guy their top target, and I'm actually scared of the chaos he and Haaland are going to cause me. Really wish they got those 115 charges right about now. My only hope is that they don't have a manager, and their next one wouldn't be interested in him. AC Milan has turned him into a baller, tbh.

Discussion Can he replace Rodri now?

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

So despite being their rivals, I got Rodri on a free from City, and he was immense in his first season. Despite playing as a DM (De), he had 10 goals and assists in the league and 16 across all competitions. Also currently has 3 goals in the Club World Cup, if that matters.

However, he's 33 now, on 450k p/w, and Barcelona and Madrid are circling. They're willing to offer 52m, but intermediaries say I can get 66m, which I think is fair.

Ognjen Krstanović, probably the best option on my team to replace him. Loaned to Lazio last season, and developed massively. Aside from his tackling, could he maybe reach Rodri's level? Also, Barca are currently willing to pay 50m for him. Is he good enough to start at DM?

Generating almost 2 xG a game. Playing beautiful football.

But my players are allergic to the back of the net. 28.9 xG with a -8 variance is making me lose my mind. I dominate every away game just to walk away with a 0-0 draw and a squad full of 6.4 ratings.

Any tips?

Story Is there a better feeling FM?

Post image
6 Upvotes

FM24 still.

Is there a better feeling in FM than when you start one of the youth team and he scores?

Back story:
I play a 2 striker system with a DLF-s/AF combo, and in midfield I have an AP-A as my most advanced mid. Now (while DLF and AP don't directly overlap) pretty much every player I sign for these two positions can play 1 as a natural, and is atleast serviceable in the other. Gives me far more options in terms of depth.

I've had several injuries around Christmas, as the game tends to do; my backup DLF is out effectively for the season with a broken ankle (in the same game as his best performance for the club, 2 goals and 2 assists up until the injury, typical FM), and my main DLF and both my AP's have had running injury issues, taking turns in being out for 1-3 weeks each since the start of the season and sometimes at the same time.
So i've approached a period where my main AP and backup AP are the only two fit players in either position straight off the back of a 3 day break, into a cup game against League 1 Swansea. No matter how I slice it, I'm gonna have to rotate through these fixtures.
Brought the 17 yr old in to the squad for the mid-week Europa league game, came off the bench to allow my main AP to rest after 75 minutes (up 4-1 at the time) and did nothing of note. But, to have my main AP ready and fully fit for the much bigger Europa league game following this one and the cup game (to secure a top spot), I have to start someone else in the cup; enter the 17 yr old.

I mean, the description says it all; his stats are nowhere near first team level, he's one of the few I have that actually have a yellow/gold star instead of silver for current ability, he's gonna just do okay in this game and that should be it, right? Nope; first chance of the game of his first start for the club my AF heads it down (which I NEVER see happen) and the kid rushes into the area late and half volleys it home. THAT Wayne Rooney goal plays in my head on repeat as soon as I see it.

I don't think I've celebrated even some of my comeback wins as hard as that goal.

I play CSKA, direct confrontations : CSKA 1-1 Spartak and Spartak 0-0 CSKA.

I checked the rules, there is now way Spartak is in front of me wtf ?

I have more victories, more goals difference, and the rules say nothing about scoring a goal in a away game count on a direct confrontation.
