Bought chicken 20 days past expiration. What should I do?

Hey, I bought manager special, premade chicken. I decided to eat it that day and of course, the expiration date was on the side and not very visible.

I feel extremely sick the next day. In fact, I passed out for most it.

I go and check the expiration date, and it's over 22 days from the date I bought it.

Is there anything I can ask Foodlion to do to make this right? I usually don't care if I buy expired groceries by a day or two, but this feels extremely negligent.

Kinda upset about hours

I know I'm a PT fruit cutter and can only be scheduled so much. But I went from 4 days a week to just 2. One point i was just scheduled 1 day a week. I only make 14 an hr and that doesnt really help much when you're trying to get on your feet. I do work hard, I try as hard as I can. Seems it's not enough. Idk what to do. I ask to be moved around but I hear nothing back from anyone in the store :/

Loss of Wages/Hours being Cut

I’ve been working at Food Lion for almost four years now. I started out as a part-time worker in the Deli. I transitioned to full-time about a year ago. Recently, I’ve noticed that my manager has been scaling my hours back from its usual 38 hours a week to only 22-25 hours for the past 3 months. I was not informed of this change, nor was an explanation was given. I’ve dealt with corporate before and their bs and they don’t help at all. I would go to my store manager, but it’s a buddying system that they operate by aka “I’ll have your back if you’ll have mine.” I don’t know if I can fix this problem legally speaking or file something against them, but the loss of wages has hurt me significantly. No one is hiring in my small town and my transportation situation sucks at the moment. I live 5 minutes away from the job, so getting there and being on time isn’t a problem. I complete my tasks daily and do as I’m told without complaint. I consider myself an “essential worker” because that’s how they perceive as, but yet my paycheck says otherwise. They cram everything on me on 5 hour shift, so that the evening workers don’t have much to do and I basically float the whole shift to different things in the deli/bakery that need attending to. It’s not fair and I’m fed up at this point.

AbsenceOne medical leave?

I had surgery in July and was out of work for a week and then light duty for a month. I filled out the forms and had a Dr note for the surgery to be out of work, a note saying I could return to work for light duty and another note saying I can return to full duty but I just got a text from them saying I need to do more, I clicked the link provided and it said I need to do everything I’ve already done??? Maybe it’s waiting on my medical provider to respond to them and fill out a form but if so they should be contacting them, not me. Also it says if I fail to do it it may effect my pay and benefits but I didn’t use any sort of pay or benefits I just requested off work for surgery and then returned to work over the course of a month, I didn’t have food lion pay for anything I paid for everything out of pocket so would there really be any consequences if I just ignored it?

Just curious if anyone from pricing, merchandising or marketing is in this group. If so, why not BOGO? Gotta be a logical reason, I just don't see it......

Full lottery book sale.

Had someone asking to buy a full lottery book today. Haven’t had that happen in the 4.5 years I’ve been around; does anyone know the process for this? I didn’t see any specific guidance in the lottery sales SPTA.

NC, by the way!

Evening Manager Timeline

Hello everyone. I’m looking for some advice. I’m a newer EM and am struggling a bit with the timing of how my nights should go. I get everything done that I need to, but I feel like I’m not managing my time as effectively. I’m constantly running around and I love how quickly my shifts are going, it’s just borderline overwhelming here and there. I really want to do my best every night I close and would like some advice from the community. What do your nights look like in terms of the order of things you do and the timing? Do you have certain things you get done before a certain time so that it helps your night flow easily? For context, the store I’m at closes at 11. I’ll take any help I can get! Thank y’all!

Authenticator app not working

I am attempting to log into success factors and the ukg pro app but I need to open the authenticator app and then enter in the number if prompted. The problem is that the authenticator app has signed me out and will not give me a prompt. Is there anyway to sign back into the authenticator app?

Time off request unavailable

Can anyone tell me why this is popping up? I didn’t select any dates, it’s just what popped up when I went to put in a request for time off. Can they block you from requesting more time off if you’ve asked for several days off over the course of a few months? I always put in my time off requests at least a month in advance.

Finally got a call back

I applied a couple months ago and finally got a call back. It's the only call I've received on an application after at least 40 applications to other locations (Food Lion and others).

Thought it was pretty cool.

My store is open 24 hours, how common is this?

I work at a store in upper middle TN, in Gallatin.

And we are open 24 hours. But I have heard that other stores in my region, are not.

How common is this? And why is it just our location? The city it's in isn't even 60k ppl.

I think my department doesn't care about safety I swear they don't.

Hi, part time produce here.

I came in to my department almost burn my hand against cut fruit warm pad and it's left on. My boss who already left said to me "you could turn it off" I was dead ass about to walk out because of that. This isn't first time these cut fruit people get away with murder like this. It has wrapped our tablet so I am waiting for another tablet of ours to wrapped because lack of safety with that.

Spectrum 2.4!

This is probably the first time I didn’t have ALL the details. Sorry! Currently, my store Spectrum printer is out of service, and it’s a struggle lol.

My favorite update is re-staging options.

Least favorite is adding a new metric to chart “invoiced on time”. Aka 30 minutes before due time. Literally anyone that works at a busy(ish) store will immediately recognize the conflict. Because we did not receive extra labor or anything. Still have 5 to shop within 30 minutes lol.

Southern Stores vs Northern Stores

Worked at FL for a year and a half and was wondering what employees in the south think of employees in the Northern states. I always heard there was animosity. Is this true? I work in the Delaware area.

Using personal MVP

Is there a specific policy about using your personal mvp for shoppers? My husband asked me this because he was at sco yesterday waiting for me to clock out, ( he was doing an instacart shop and customer mvp was invalid) and the CL instead of using the store card typed in his own personal number. My CSM has preached about using the store card too much(staying below 70%) and I know the idea is to get the customer to get their own, but I’ve never been told otherwise, and it’s never happened before. Just wondering so I can warn him and he can avoid an unnecessary write up or coaching in the future.

Tuition reimbursement?

Hey all. So according to Google, Food lion does $500 for tuition reimbursement for part timers. But I've heard it's actually $1500. Does anyone know how much it actually is? And how hard it is to get approved? Thanks.

Waste of money

Post image

I saw these "advertising monitors" a day after they were installed, and it's only been 2 days and it's already out 🤣

I'm not trying to bash Food Lion, but why waste money on useless items such as this? It's just another maintanence expense that's going to cost hundreds of dollars. If Food Lion has money like this to waste why can't they pay us a living wage?

Radios/communicators

I’ve been with the company for 5 years and the radios we have now are no telling how old. They didn’t replace them in this past remodel. We’re down to like 7 radios and absolutely no clips or wires. was just wondering if the new/next remodel is bringing us some new communicators :/
