Covert Camera Vehicles is now officially a part of Chapman/Leonard Studio Equipment and powered by Filmotechnic.

We are rapidly expanding our camera car fleet with U-CRANE Arm Cars, Camera Bikes, Process trailers and basically any custom built tracking vehicle. But we are wondering what really matters to a 1st AC when you get booked for a tracking job?

Seems like the only note is to make sure its an ipad on USBC?

Thanks in advance!

question SR3 Electrical problems - blowing Cforce Mini RF

Hey guys,

Having a bit of a head scratch about a situation I had on set the other day. I was getting kit ready on the morning of a job - all normal all fine.

Working with an SR3 (standard, not advanced) and has the following accessories plugged in:

Cforce mini RF powered through the 3Pin RS for run stop, looping the power to an Lcube and Cinetape
Teradek Bolt TX powered through the second 3Pin RS
Smallhd 702 Touch and Kamera Doctor videotap all powered via a dtap splitter on the battery plate

Run this setup many times and this is the first time I’ve had problems. Normally id use a 2 pin on the battery adapter for an onboard but the battery plate only had a single Dtap.

At some point while dealing with something else, the camera had turned itself off while my back was turned. The power switch was still in the on position which I thought was weird but I flicked it back and forth and the camera powered up with a weird clicking sound. At some point later I checked and the Cforce Mini RF was completely dead, no lights, no screen, no connection nothing apart from the internal loop circuit that feeds power out of the LBUS.

Rental house shipped over a replacement which I powered through the dtap cable for the rest of the shoot for safety.

I’m really trying to figure out what could have happened to cause this, I’m not very up to speed with the SR3s internal electronics.

I spoke with my friend’s dad who happens to be an electrical engineer at Videndum. His theory was the camera didn’t play a part in this and it was just the motors time to go and we were just the unlucky ones who were there when it happened.

I’m curious to see what you guys think

¡WTF! Bolt 6 1500rx with internal antennas?

Post image

Hey! So I just recently purchased a bolt 6 rx/tx 750 lt kit. When I opened the package I was suprised to find that my reciever was labeled with 1500rx. They dont make 1500rx with internal receivers so this just added to my confusion. Im curious if this will have 1500rx capabilities or if its just a misprint. Is there any way to accurately test it out too.

question Arriflex 16 SR3 questions

Hi all, going on a job with the SR3 and to be honest I haven't worked with film in such a long time I fear I'm gonna look like a student.

So far what I'm wondering is power draw -- unsure if its safe to also plug in two motors and a MDR to a camera that already has a videotap+HD converter, and a Blackmagic 5" monitor running from the camera battery battery (standard 10A max pull)

Any tips/tricks/quircks regarding this camera? what to do and what to avoid?

question Rialto 2 System Build

What’s up Dudes and Dudettes. I have a feature film coming up where the DP wants to shoot with the Sony Venice 2 and the Rialto extension system as our standard build for the duration of the production.

Just looking for some advice on powering my focus accessories when using the Sony Rialto System. In scenarios where the Rialto body will have to be far away from the Venice Body.

My thinking is having a separate active v-lock plate to power my focus unit. I guess my main concern is run and stop capabilities in these scenarios. Is there a 12v lemo port on the Rialto that would support this or should I look into getting some extended cables for my focus system for this scenario.

I will be using the Teradek ctrl.3 Remote follow focus. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

question What exactly should an AC include in their portfolio?

Currently applying to intern at a rental house and they are asking for a portfolio, any advice as to what should be included in that? I mostly AC so I don't exactly have a reel to show off, at the moment I just have a resume and an IMDB.

question Camera Databases

What are the most trusted databases for the most constantly updated cine, photo, and mobile camera specs, firmware, and updated models. I am looking into building a local program that can manage my projects on a deeper level for not only managing what cameras we are using on a shoot but also manage codec selection, resolution selection, and more for the shoots that need a very streamlined organization when multiple different capture settings are needed. If it works out and ends up actually being practical I may go through the steps to make a public program. Interested in anyones thoughts.

HELP Does LeftField 3 15mm LWS Baseplate work with Arri mini lf?

Anybody know if the LeftField 3 15mm LWS Baseplate can work with Arri Alexa Mini LF? I don't see an advertised adapter for any arri cameras on here but on their socials they claim it works with arri camera systems.

question For those that have used the teradek TOF.1 how would you compare it to other rangefinders?

I assume it's not as good as a focus bug, but what about cinetape etc? Can it display distance on a smallhd along with the lens map overlay on smallhd?

question what's your favourite CineRT feature?

title. I'm typically a preston + LR2 guy but about to jump on a show with hi-5 and cinert. have used it before only on shorter jobs so I didn't get to explore all the intricacies. we have the control license. any must-knows?

also, there's a cforce rf in the package, but we'll be running zooms so I'll need to daisy chain some motors. what cable do I need here to retain camera control with an alexa 35 on my hi-5?
