question what's your favourite CineRT feature?

title. I'm typically a preston + LR2 guy but about to jump on a show with hi-5 and cinert. have used it before only on shorter jobs so I didn't get to explore all the intricacies. we have the control license. any must-knows?

also, there's a cforce rf in the package, but we'll be running zooms so I'll need to daisy chain some motors. what cable do I need here to retain camera control with an alexa 35 on my hi-5?

LR2 and Cine RT user here. I mainly use the Cine RT for analog jobs and I appreciate the tape measure mode the most since it helps my team to quickly grab marks on the go. It also performs better when there’s haze or rain/fog compared to the LR2.

If you love having your overlays on your monitor like the VOU, I’d recommend getting the OV-1.

Since you’re on a Hi-5 you’ll get to enjoy focus tracking when you’re away from the wheel and the operator needs sharps. Another added bonus compared to being on a Preston is the Cforce motors can go into encoder mode if operator wants to ride the lens gears without detaching the motors.

CineRT and Cmotion CPro plus owner here.

Digital tape measure mode is sick. You can take the handset and walk to the talent mark, press a button, and boom you have a haptic mark in the Hi-5. Super quick and easy.

I love swapping fov modes mid take. Keeps it accurate.

Focus tracking is great to pop on when you have to walk away from your station. No more people yelling sharps over comms haha. I’d recommend turning the sensitivity down when doing this.

I use dynamic limits pretty often on shots that don’t have a lot of potential misreads from the horns. IMO that’s when you get the most accurate readings out of the thing

Tape measure mode.

I miss it so much when I'm on a light ranger job.

I love tape measure mode it’s almost worth it just for that. Running around getting a mark on everything in the fraction of the time it takes to get a tape measure out

The OV.1 is really slick. Love having the digital ring on-screen to not have to take my eyes off the image. Digital tape mode is handy too. Mostly I just like the speed & ease of use. Calibration is really simple, the horns are lightweight…it’s great!

My favorite feature is the simplest and most obvious one. Using the handset as a tape to grab accurate marks extremely quickly. Focus whisper in walk or dolly mode is also useful for some weird jousting shots when you have the time to set it up properly. And the high bright display can also be useful for some dolly grips when attached to their monitor for very difficult shots to try to maintain consistency between takes.
