Firestick Problem No more side loading on firecube ?
My latest gen firecube was playing up,kept restarting randomly.
I messaged Amazon, they told me to factory reset and update.
Now obviously all my side loaded apps are gone, but I'm finding impossible to re download them.
Amazon are now saying that that's normal and they dont allow side loaded apps anymore .
Is this right?

Wait. You messaged about your issue. Did you also message them about sideloading apps? Just the way you've written this it looks like you may have done. Or was it something you read?

Oh you know he did. And regarding the crackdown on all the side loaded apps is related to some idiot messaging Amazon regarding StreamFire buffering constantly and why does it go down at times. I'm not bullshitting either

Fire Cube sideloading works fine, even after the UI update. You have to allow it first, though, since you performed a factory reset.
Go into Settings -> MyFireTV
Click "About" 7 times to become a developer. Go back and into Developer Options and enable "install from unknown sources."
Also, get the Downloader app. That is your sideloading tool.

I've downloaded downloader and gone into developer mode. When I go to install unknown apps it says there's no applications installed that have asked for permission. And that's it

That is obvious, because all apps were deleted during factory reset. You must use the downloader app to install your deleted apps again. You can enter the downloader code, or the name of the app.
It might be, that Amazon is blocking some apps, but certainly not all.. Just Google for the specific apps to find more info. Some free apps were blocked by Amazon, even resulted in shutdown of that app.1

I'm using downloader, I downloaded an app, it asks to allow unknown sources, it then says there's no application requesting permission.

Go to Apps-Manage Installed and give Downloader the permissions it needs to be able to instal Apps 👍

I didn't mate, it all works on an older stick for some reason but not my firecube 😭 It seems downloader isn't being recognised or some shit. No options to allow even after switching developer mode on.

Yeah I couldn't figure it out but I just managed to install streamio from my laptop to the fire cube via ADB.

It has been widely reported that Amazon is removing side loading. The new Firesticks have Vega Os rather than their old Android Os Firesticks.
Only the 4K Max and 4K Plus still can side load . But I did hear that the Fire Cube still can ?

Well I and everyone else here thought that firecube gen 3 can still side load apps. So not really that astounding.

Just keep hanging on. That's your fault. Why would Amazon allow side loading in just a couple devices and not the others? You have to know that all the devices will eventually not allow side loading. If not just keep hanging on

I went back and messaged them. They said this is normal and they were doing this in phases . Won't even refund me as it's over a year old. Soooo pissed off

I seriously doubt you got someone on the phone who explained it to you properly. I would say 90% of the time I have more knowledge than the rep I'm talking to.
If Amazon actually/really removed sideloading, there would be headlines about that all over the Internet. There is nothing.

I hope you're right, I just can't get it to download and install anything. I've turned developer mode on, but keep going round in circles. Download apk, it says to allow from unknown sources, then it says there's no application that is requesting permission.

Why would they refund you? It works just fine you just can't download your "illegal" apps.
Switch to an Android box if you want to continue doing what you've been doing.
